  1. I've seen the ai do some cool things. One I remember was a squad crossing a dangerous street. The last guy went down. He was red. Under fire, another guy went out and tried to administer medical treatment. He was cut down. The rest of the guys decided to open fire in the direction of the enemy fire. They killed the enemy and were able to give lifesaving medical support to the 2 red wounded. It reminded me of "Full Metal Jacket", when 8-ball got shot and animal-mutha went off with the 60.
  2. It's as close as you can get until someone comes out with a more realistic modern squad based combat simulator.
  3. Wow guys. It was just an experiment that I actually had fun playing. I remember playing a cmx1 mission about a small unit action that had to take out a tiger tank stuck in the mud. So I wanted to make a small unit battle. I'm glad you guys like it though. The little gears in my head are thinking of some interesting new situations to send Team Flag into... more to come... I'm pretty busy lately and I'm moving to simi valley this weekend, but after that keep your eyes peeled.
  4. I'm not telling you to cheat uncle sam, but if you got hurt, you will get benefits. Slight recurring pain in your leg? Headaches that won't go away? Hell, even a mean scar. All of these factors can relate to lost wages in the future, therefor, you will be entitled to it. DO NOT just let it slip by. Pursue it. And the people at medical aren't the ones to talk to. Find a local VA guy, they are everywhere. They are the ones to ask. They can even help you get the ball rolling. I'm trying to give you good advice here. There are far too many veterans who don't get anything because they never bothered. Don't be that guy. Again, trust me, or at least remember this and contact the VA BEFORE you get out.
  5. First I would recommend playing the existing campaign that comes with the game. It's well made and has a lot of diversity. I would recommend just about any of those missions on cmmods. Some are more realistic than others, or more difficult, or more fun. But they all have some redeeming values. I would also recommend all of the very few campaigns you come across. Webwings Ghost campaign is great. Bardosy's campaign is very fun too. Mods? You're just going to have to look at the pics. Try to pick some that match the battle you are playing. For instance, there is an african union mod that goes with some african missions. Sound mods? There aren't many to choose from. Personally, I'm waiting for one of these modding geniuses to put out a better one, as some of the sounds from the existing ones didn't quite match. $6? Nice find.
  6. abneo3sierra, Thanks for your sacrifices. I really do appreciate them and I understand why they were important to make. As a disabled veteran myself, I HIGHLY recommend that you keep a copy of your medical records in a safe place. When you do decide to get out/retire, your gonna need it. The VA will give you what you deserve... some money, free healthcare, free college, and depending on what state you enlisted from, your kids may also get a free ride in college. Having been through the whole medboard process (for a whole freakin year), I might be able to help you out. If you need or want any info, let me know, even if it's 10 years down the line. ahindssolo@hotmail.com. Even if they say you're good to go and you do 30 years, TRUST ME ON THIS ONE, you will still be eligible for all or more of the benefits I listed above when you get out. Hoorah!
  7. No, I'm not nuts, just a dreamer who wants a bright future for all humanity. As far as the logistics goes, it's not possible for any 1 country to invade every screwed up place on earth. But I'm telling you, man, look how far we have come in the last 100 years. A century ago, we never would have dreamed of the things we have now. Hell, back then it would have taken months to travel to afghanistan. Now we can send a bomb there faster than Dominos can get me a pizza. All I ask for is for people to be ethical and nice. As for the ones who can't hack it... that's what $100,000 javelins are for.
  8. Yes Vanir Ausf B, we should. Another hypothetical... Your next door neighbor is getting raped and robbed. You go and rescue the neighbor or call the cops, who go and rescue. The next day, the neighbor across the street is getting raped and robbed. "Since the neighbor is across the street, it's not any of my concern." Does that make any sense to you? It doesn't to me. I'm gonna go over there and stop the friendly neighbor from getting raped. The longer humanity sits around idly, the longer these crapperheads are going to kill more people, ruin more lives, and destroy their own countries. Before long, their countries will be completely ruined, like Somalia. When that happens, it creates even more discontent, hatred, fear, and cold-heartedness. The kind you see displayed by executioners, terrorists, and serial killers. Global warming? Going green? Recycling? Providing healthcare? Equal opportunities? Racial equality? Laws that keep people safe? New medications for disease? Cancer research? Education? Peaceful walks through a park? Do you see ANY of these things being addressed in Somalia? Rwanda? Sudan? When's the last time you heard of a Nobel winner or a cure for some disease coming from Afghanistan? What kind of world do you want to live in? One where we section off certain peaceful areas from dangerous areas? Well guess what cowboy? **** rolls downhill, and the stink rolls downwind. We all live on this tiny planet together. Sectioning off certain areas for barbarians to rule over beaten people isn't going to work much longer. As the world shrinks due to population growth, ease of travel, and instantaneous communications, we just aren't going to be able to live with tyrants anymore. Either that or we're going to all be like somalians. Poor, malnurished, angry, and sad. Toss in a life expectancy of 45 too. And the best thing you could ever hope for your kids is to one day grow up and get rich: TWO whole cups of rice a day and his very own RPG launcher. 9. Because they did. Lots of it. They just used it all on their own people. If someone at your local mall had shot someone and still had ammo, would you try to take him out? How about if he expended all of his ammo on some more people? "Hmmm, since he's out of ammo, maybe we should just let him walk away. Oh he doesn't have any bullets, so he's harmless, and not guilty of any crime, so you just have to let him go". That's what I hear when people start bringing up the whole "no wmd's" thing. Grow up, man. This is a vicious world. Maybe you can sit around at Starbucks talking about who's going to get kicked off "America's next gayest supermodel", but a lot of people on this planet are vicious bastards, who will kill you and your family because "God" told him to.
  10. Yeah man, go for it. I just used paint but it could be done much better. Maybe make it look like a uav picture with the target reticle and all that. That would be cool.
  11. Hey, I'm glad you had fun with it. Normal Dude, you played it perfectly. That's why you did so well. That's exactly how I designed it to work out. The goal is a)don't die and b)don't run out of ammo. If you do run out, you need to pull off an escape and evasion. I guess you guys want more of a harrowing experience. You didn't mention the little surprise at the extraction, maybe you did it too quickly. Anyways, thanks for playing. It sounds like everyone who has played it feels about the same. But at least they all have said it captures some level of a special ops feel. That's exactly what I wanted to do. I may have make some enhancements.
  12. quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally posted by Cpl Steiner: birdstrike, I had a similar problem when replaying my "Kurds Attack!" scenario today to assess what changes were needed to it. I had a two-man RPG team advance up to a bunker behind a low wall. When the team was moving they had a clear LOS to the bunker but as soon as they stopped they dropped prone and the bunker went out of sight. It seems that some soldier types (RPG gunners being one) are unable to change their posture to fire at targets they can obviously engage but currently can't see due to being prone behind blocking terrain such as a low wall or the lip of a trench. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Great point. Hopefully Steve or someone will see this. I think this could be fixed somewhat easily... IF a squad is on the same 8x8 tile as a low wall, THEN they should be able to see over it, WHILE being hidden from enemies who are beyond the 8x8 tile. Seems like that would fix it. That's why soldiers tend to sit behind low walls, because they can see over and be hidden. ''Sorry for double post, didn't see this thread yet. -------------------- theFightingSeabee

  14. Thanks! Can't wait. But, do what you have to do first. Work and school are most important. Then women, then eating and drinking, then games.
  15. Sorry, Didn't mean to turn this into a bitch session. I just thought it was interesting that every single CMx1 veteran is wondering where those features are. I also meantioned that the game is still fun. I would recommend this game to anyone. Don't buy it if you can find ONE game that is better at modern tactical combat. I would urge Ooog to save his 33.14 cents worth until he had enough to buy the game.
  16. Ooog, you have just hit on several things that we have been asking for since day one... things that puzzled us as to why they would not include them in CMx2. On the other hand, the game is extremely playable and fun without that stuff.
  17. Don't forget beef jerky, a prc119, at least 2 packs of cigarettes and a lighter.
  18. ? There are 2 vbied's in my scenario "The Curve". They both dash toward the enemy and blow up as soon as they get close enough (I think, I usually am able to shoot them before they reach my guys). Now you got me wondering if they actually work right. As far as IED's go, I think that you have to put the spotter where he can see the IED. And I think if you kill the spotter, the ied's won't go off. I have wanted some clarity on this myself though.
  19. "Damn it Achmed, I said 'Back off'!!! -Or- As the hatch opens, the Syrians unveil their new secret weapon... the RPG (repulsive, perverted guy). [ March 14, 2008, 05:27 PM: Message edited by: the Fighting Seabee ]
  20. Don't be so naive. Those old WW2 grunts were as dirty and foul-mouthed as anyone now. The reason you think that is because they never used to show these guys cussing. It would have not been allowed in theatres and radios. My grandpa was a WW2 Marine who fought the Japanese. That son of a bitch (I don't think he'd mind me saying that) was one cussing bastard. Great guy... just like the rest of us.
  21. Fixing these things would be great. The most annoying bug for me is when I have a Bradley fire a TOW into a building and immediately cease fire. Every single time it launches and wastes the second TOW missile. Basically you have to REALLY want to blow the crap out of something or you're just wasting valuable missiles.
  22. I would also like the features mentioned by M1A1TC. 1. The sound of the aircraft rolling in. 2. The sound of the aircraft firing guns/missiles. Especially the sound of the A-10's big gun. 3. Our guys should know when artillery and airsupport is inbound. The following video shows all 3 of these things. They are not crucial, but all add to the realism and eye/ear candy. The action happens around 1 min, 20 sec. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=26f_1202076972
  23. http://www.cmmods.com This is your best bet. Tons of user made missions, campaigns, and textures. Just create a free account and start downloading. The game will open up even more to you when you start seeing how creative people are. Top 10? Just download all of the missions and campaigns (just be careful, some are updated so you don't want the earlier versions). Also, download the skins that interest you if you feel like changing up the visuals. I highly recommend the mod called something like "tracerexplosion". It turns all the tracers into a more realistic color. Explosions too.
