  1. Oakland's full of crazy Raiders fans out there... I'd watch my back. -Chiefs fan
  2. Code word? Or is it like the library of Ephesus, where the men go to the "Library", skitter through the secret passage, and end up across the street in the brothel?
  3. Either keep it cool or go all out and try to make the local newspapers. Have Steve drive one of his tanks up the street right past the federal building and park in front of the event. That'll get some attention for the game.
  4. Many beta testers, like me, still have "Senior Member" tags. I've been on since British Forces. I don't mind, I definitely haven't earned the title as much as a bunch of these guys. Some of them put in literally fulltime hours (or much more) working on this game. Just a few that pop into my head are animals... probably shouldn't start naming names, but a lot of these guys are a huge part of the game. It really is a labor of love for these guys.
  5. Agreed. People like finalcut are good to go. I think he's just earned a friend. And wodin, keep a stiff upper lip, bro. Try to focus on the little things like a warm ray of sun or crisp morning air or a hug from a loved one to take your mind off the bigger things. You probably can't do much about the world at the moment, but these things tend to come around in cycles. Soon enough everything will turn around and you'll be riding high again. There's plenty of good out there yet.
  6. Phantom Captain, I got to play with a lot of cool stuff, including all the weapons pictured, when I worked in the Seabee museum while I was processing out due to my injury. When I started there, they had NO IDEA where their weapons were or what they had. But, honest as I am, I squared them all away, tagged them, etc. It would have been extremely easy to snag any of them, as I opened and closed the museum on my own and had a set of keys. It was really cool just to hold them all though. We had stuff from WW2, Europe and Pacific, Korea, Vietnam, and the Gulf War. All types of really cool artifacts. One of my favorites was a Japanese samurai sword with a bullet dent.
  7. LOL. And all the Rizzo's seem to have terrible attitudes but a great sense of humor and they end every sentence with "ova here". They're always good fighters though, afterall, they're descendents of the great Roman armies. "Eh! Dem krauts is shootin at us ova here!" Sounds like a mod project for one of you east coast guys ova here!
  8. You're not alone. I've noticed a lot of you hardcore cmx1'ers lurking around here lately. I'm sure a lot of us will get several good years out of this game.
  9. I'd literally go shooting every weekend for two months if I had those! Nice!
  10. Put the refresh monkey back to bed. Maybe even put him in a cryogenic chamber for a while. At least tell him to quit staring at me, those eyes are freaking me out!
  11. Sounds like the first preview was a great success. It's cool to hear impressions from both players who play CMSF and the die-hard CMx1 players. Going from CMx1 must be a shock! I'm curious if Phantom Captian was noticing certain things about the interface that are new from CMSF. Anyways, sounds like rune knows how to throw a party. I'd probably have been the last one there drinking and eating sloppy joes.
  12. There will be a lot of improvements over CMSF as far as mechanics. I can't go into detail, but a lot of people who didn't like CMSF will like CMBN. For the rest of 'em... tough shatz.
  13. I am also grateful. I've been a fan since 2001. After CMSF came out, I was hooked for good. Having been rewarded with a betatester position has been a blast. BFC really does care about putting out a HIGH QUALITY product. As much as we complain and ask for new features and annoy them, they still really love to make us happy (and not just for the money!). CMBN will be their crowning achievement to-date and will show us all plenty of great action. It's only getting better from here, gentlemen!
  14. I did the same, but didn't bother to count. That is a cool banner though.
  15. http://www.gamesquad.com/news/combat-mission-battle-normandy-announced Here's a press release that no one seems to have read.
  16. There is no set date for the release of Normandy, so your guess is as good as mine. You can buy CMSF for incredibly cheap, like $5, so you may want to shop around. The modules add a TON of content, but if you're never going to play them again once CM:BN is out, then it's hard to tell you to spend the money. Personally, I'd buy the whole collection! Your problem with one sided battles has been a concern of many others, so there's a ton of user-made content that attempts to even the odds a bit. For example, one of my favorite campaigns is for the USMC module. It follows a platoon of Marines through a darn tough day of fighting and is no easy task to beat. Also, there are even a lot of red on red missions that even the odds as well. There are so many great scenarios, campaigns, and mods out there, you could be playing for years. I'm sure you won't have much problem finding someone to PBEM with. I know the feeling of controlling the fate of imaginary men... I play as if I would be the one to write to the Moms of the dead about how brave their sons were.
  17. Well I can't wait to go through this! Your work is being highly praised on the inner board. Beautiful work, LLF!
  18. Yeah Louie, when you know you've completed your military objectives and cleared what you wanted to clear, cease fire. That ends the battle and tallies up the points. There was probably a unit hiding somewhere that kept the game going.
  19. As long as she's fundamentally flawed in all the right places!
  20. By all means, grab the demo and check it out! Try Afghanistan too.
  21. Yeah finalcut, I'm on the same page. If I wasn't such a slow reader it wouldn't be so bad. ...and my wonderful fiance wouldn't keep telling me to marry you guys if I love you so much!
  22. Come on guys, how many times do I have to type this?... Forget about buggy releases. It's going to be good.
  23. Well Rake, I love both genres. Before CMSF was released, I remember attempting to build a Fallujah battle in CMAK. It didn't work out well, but kept me busy for a while. Playing CMSF now will most definitely help you become a better player in CMBN. Once you're comfortable with the CMx2 system, you'll be ready for the invasion of France.
  24. Franko, there's a bunch of guys doing a lot of work to iron out those bugs. The game is superbly polished already, and is getting better every day. I wouldn't worry too much about it. This will not be anything like the release of CMSF. The first release will be 600 times more polished than CMSF. There's always going to be tiny bugs and preference issues as any individual will want things a little different to suit their own tastes. But, in beta phase, the game is better than ANY game of it's type ever made, even if it doesn't do everything you've ever dreamed it should do.
