  1. I was one of the playtesters for this campaign, so maybe I can answer that for PT. The real reason is that the campaign is HUGE, the biggest ever for any CMx2 game (I think). If you lose too many guys, you won't make it all the way through. It would really suck to get to, say, mission 14, and you just don't have enough dudes to win. The strict limits helps with that. Most of us would rather replay a scenario right away than have to go back 10 scenarios to fix a poor outing that lost you half your guys. The campaign is built in segments, so once you reach a certain point, you will be rewarded with some reinforcements. Bottom line is you just have to do as well as you can in this campaign. If you do, you'll see some of the most spectacularly beautiful maps made yet.
  2. Nik mond, its an old bug from cmsf that is thankfully still there. Longleftflank, awesome! The smoke I'm the water is burning jeeps, I may use your mod, as its in the perfect spot!
  3. Vein, is there any way to make the tracers shorter? Seeing tracers in real life is not the same a on film. On film they are stretched a bit due to the shutter speed. Seeing in person they are a lot shorter. Is that possible?
  4. Make sure to unzip them. Coincidentally, I'm going to be revising my mid manager for cmbn.
  5. I actually had a small ramp at the top, but it caused some problems with the pixeltroops getting stuck at the top. As it is, it's really not too bad.
  6. Nice Vein! I'm going to have to fire up my mod manager with all the stuff you're putting out!
  7. Reaching the Top Reaching the Top (In Game) Over the Top Over the Top (In Game) Advancing Check this out: http://media.oaktreesys.com/abmc/pointeduhoc/popup.html And this:
  8. Here is a scenario I've been working on for a long time. I'm just about done with it and am pretty happy with how it turned out. Here are some screens: Pointe du Hoc, France The Cliffs 2nd Rangers Scaling the Cliffs
  9. In the CMBN directory, you'll see a Data folder. Inside this Data folder, make a folder named "z". Drop your unzipped mods in there and that's it!
  10. In testing this game, I've had many such moments. Ive been testing this for over a year and im still seeing the tiny details I never noticed before. I think the more you guys play, the more cool things you'll notice!
  11. My wonderful fiance of twelve years loves roll playing games and is as into morrowind as im into cm. when she's done playing, she'll go off and watch all the mind numbing shows mentioned above. Except thursday night we watch the office, parks and recreation, etc. I did get her into top shot, so that's cool. She pretty much hates cm but loves that I'm having fun.
  12. Steve and the guys definitely have their game faces on right now. It's all business back there. I think they're as ready as anyone to get the game out the door. Only then will they be taking a deep breath and high-fiving eachother.
  13. I'm pretty sure you can add single units to a formation. You can't just do anything, though. You can't add a tank to an infantry unit. I think it has to be realistic.
  14. Yep Vincent, I know you must appreciate the face. noob, if you look at the turret directly above the face, there's another one: a cyclops with a stoney smile. |-)
  15. I will be going back to CMSF until CMSF2 comes out.
  16. There has to be at least 1000 posts where Steve has denied giving a release date. So nice try fellas! So find something else to do for a while!
  17. I'm the same way. And also the same with CMSF; I could rarely bring myself to play as the syrians and especially the civilian combatants.
  18. I'm currently working on Pointe du Hoc. I won't release it until after the game is released, but it plays very close to history. I'm actually in the process of re-doing the whole thing due to me wanting it to be more accurate, but it's going to be quite good if I may say so myself.
  19. Yeah, but he's not been around the entire developement time. I can see your point as far as he goes. I'm not saying we haven't had fun, because the game is pretty damn fun. I'm just trying to help you guys not have mental breakdowns over it . Just trust me, you guys are better off waiting just a little while longer. I hope BFC releases some of the hilarious bugs that have cropped up when the game was nearly unplayable in the early stages. Once the game is released, we'll be able to play it for real just like you.
  20. Yeah, we have the game, but you must know that we (the beta testers) aren't experiencing the game as you may think. We use a special debug mode that slows things down significantly. When a bug occurs, the game ends and we have to submit bug reports. We also have played with missing textures, placeholder textures, sounds, and incomplete scenarios and campaigns. There is a definite trade-off. We will never experience the excitement of opening that box and firing it up for the first time. You won't have to deal with bug crashes and reporting, reinstalling, and all the stuff we do. Not to mention, a lot of these guys barely get to play at all, they're too busy working on textures, models, scenario and campaign graphics, etc etc etc. These "bastiges" are doing a HELL OF A LOT OF WORK so that when you do finally get the game installed, you'll be able to enjoy it.
  21. PhantomCaptain, Nice! My great-great-grandfather was in the Indiana 82nd and 120th infantry and was wounded down in Georgia. Luckily, he survived or I wouldn't have been born! Here he is at age 18, trying to look tough.
  22. Here's some more harrowing WW2 combat footage. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GedK9JWJStQ&feature=related
