The opportunity to support a small, independent game company, that produces some of the best WWII & Modern wargames in the world, maybe?

    Just teasing.
As you said, were not likely to see any of these systems.....What I would like to see are some older Soviet/Russian systems so that we can better depict the actual forces of the respective sides and also use the game to model some of the other conflicts on the former Soviet periphery.

I'm back at it from another very long break. Still a long way to go, but I've made a ton of progress since the last update I posted in the project thread. In fact, I just tried to post a pic, but Flickr appears to have tied itself in knots and I can't access my account, despite having used it yesterday. Grrr. Oh well. Maybe it's a sign I should keep my secrets safe for now (okay can't resist - edited to attach pic).
Happy to say that the current Engine and map seem to like each other a lot. The dense terrain really pairs up well with the evolving TacAI displacement behaviors. Sure, you get the occasionall suide rout, but more often, the bulk of a team makes it out of harms way. In fact, if the player is smart with his team splits and moves, it's not too uncommon to have whole teams bump up against the enemy and back out without losses.
And, the patches have made SP-ready QB map slices much less time consuming because the AI is using buildings now with general area painting, rather than having to isolate the tiles inside buildings like before.

Seconded.....For a small outfit, BF do a fine job.
BF customer service is absolutely second to none.
How much more do you really expect them to be able to do?

If you only play one game, it may seem a long time between Christmases, but CMSF came out in 2007 and in that time we've had:
    CMSF, + 3 modules
    CMBN, + 3 modules and a pack
    CMFI, + 1 module
    CMRT
    CMBS
CMSF2 (that's been loads of fun!)
...plus 2 more modules on the way apparently quite soon.
That's 14 games and modules in 12 years, plus 3 upgrades. That doesn't seem too bad. I've had plenty to play with, although I'm looking forward to the next 2 modules.
I mean - I could wish for more, and there have been some quiet spells, but all up it's still kept me more engaged by far than an any game I've ever played.

Tip for the sake of your sanity (assuming you are not doing this already).....Build the map with the time set to mid-day, then change the time setting when you are done, so much easier on the eyeballs!

Pretty sure I know a man who could make this happen.....He's a bit busy at the moment with oriental engagements, but I reckon something could probably be done.
    This is the biggest part.

This is a war game forum not a political forum.  The politics of this can be debated elsewhere if that’s your bag.
FWIW the actual research - objective and fact based is well worth reading rather than various media interpretations.

@37mm  I can give you an interim fix (for a human played force only).....Build a tall walled compound, paint all interior squares as an exit zone, then place BTRs within.  Advise player that he should take advantage of the supplies in the BTRs at setup and that the compound should be vacated by non-BTRs prior to game start.  Once he clicks the red button, those BTRs will vanish, nothing that he might attempt will get them out of that compound before they do.
I've used this technique with some of my more complex small unit stuff, the exit zone can double up as an exfiltration route or whatever (It will remain live, so why not use it?).

This probably refers to the M4A1 mortar carrier, a predecessor to the M21, not to the M4A1 medium tank. As I recall mortar carriers weren't coded yet when CMFI and GL came out.

    Erwin,
Don't know, but I personally prefer the earlier term, but then, I also had four years of Latin and am a huge Roman legion buff! Julius Caesar briefly invaded what he called Britannia. If I remember to do so, I'll check.

Here's a truly weird product, which is available, together with a bunch of related ones. Visit Etsy, then search under denture case.

Shifting to Nature, behold Peru's Rainbow Mountains!

I would shell out some top dollar for irregulars, or partisans, or "third-rate" type troops, in any game!

In both CMRT and CMBS I believe 'partisans' are (perhaps) being considered for future vehicle/force packs, not for the modules. Partisan fighters in 1945 is a difficult topic as their fate often involved being rounded up by their Soviet liberators and shipped off to Siberia. Partisan units in 1942/43 (in later titles) would be more significant. But then again, any scenario designer can take a Russian infantry unit and rename it 'Partisans' for the purpose of their scenario. In CMSF2 you can find 'renamed' allied Druz militia spies, Hezbollah splinter factions, foreign mercenaries, neighborhood criminal gangs, CIA spec ops troops... none of which are 'officially' in the game.
The CMRT and CMFI modules have been 'almost complete' for awhile. Much of the CMRT module artwork was finished 2 1/2 years ago. The big issue has always been scheduling & prioritization. BFC is a small company. A coworker catching a head cold or going on summer holiday is enough to throw off any schedule. Earlier this year the company went on a mini hiring spree (relatively speaking) which means there are more hands toiling away. The across-the board patches are done and released. The road is now clear for polishing off the 'almost complete' projects that have been languishing.

An update about partisans would also be nice!  Given that it seems like most of the other content (late war German vehicles, lend-lease, etc.) has already been created for other games/modules, it would sure be nice to get some unique East Front units such as partisans...
I'd also be happy to buy partisans in a separate battlepack or whatever, as long as we don't have to wait another five years for it.

I think that reason of more tight Soviet formations is different. Messengers. In 1941 TO&E in company was 1 messenger and in platoon 1 messenger. Absolutely not enough, Germans had 4 in company HQ and 2 in platoon HQ. In 04/550 TO&E (12.1942) (that I posted above) no messengers at all! Second reason is that Soviet divisions were always under strength in 1944-1945. It is Stavka decision: to keep 7000-men divisions. If your company has 70 men, it is not reasonable to use 15-20 men platoons (with 1-2 machineguns) independently.
What's about NCOs, well, they were able to keep soldiers in line. To make line formation in the game you have to split squads.
By the way, in BUP-42 (Infantry combat manual - 42) is said that SMG gunners must act by groups of 4-5 men. SMG platoons ("avtomatchiki") were considered as "special" infantry for infiltrating and surprise attacks from flank or rear, not like rifle platoons.

Yeah nice try with the drugs angle.....Did you see the video of the car exploding?
Mercedes Benz were very, very unhappy about the claims made about the safety of their cars.
Seth Rich wasn't a journalist, he was a DNC staffer and the probable source for the so called DNC hack.....But yes, another inconvenient American who suddenly got dead.
Again you are utterly mistaken.....I just don't give the US a free pass, we have the entire western media for that.
I really am done with this crap now.....I'm in the middle of building a massive and rather complex map and I would like to concentrate on that if it's all the same to you.
