  1. Designing for these games can be utterly mind-melting at times.....I've got a truck that steadfastly refuses to move on a given order, despite being quite happy to move when given a whole stream of identical orders previously! No doubt I've cocked something up, but finding it.....
  2. You might be right, bit disappointed in young Massoud, but glad he's still alive.....I still think he's the best hope for Afghanistan in the future, but it will probably mean another civil war.
  3. @Aquila-SmartWargames.....It's coming: Shouldn't be too much longer now. Scenarios 3 & 4 will follow fairly shortly (by my standards) as they share an awful lot with this one.....Scenario 5 is already on my desk. Linking 'em all together and getting the campaign script done & working properly will be the next major challenge. There will be performance based branching in the finished product and the campaign core units file is double-sided, so guards etc. picked off in one scenario may well remain dead for the next (campaign script depending).....Nothing like making life difficult for yourself!
  4. So exactly how close can things get in our jungles at night? How about this close: That's a 5m Target Arc. Combat was not initiated!
  5. How exactly did we get into this nonsense, starting from here: Slightly confused!
  6. Maybe not so much like his dad after all: https://theintercept.com/2021/09/21/afghanistan-taliban-ahmad-massoud-flee/ Poor Afghanistan.
  7. I suppose it could be taken from an attacking aircraft, but it all looks kind of perfect (the uniforms possibly excepted).....Intrigued to know now.
  8. Thought I might post some of your eye candy: It's a picturesque spot right enough.....But nothing that can't be fixed with sufficiently dedicated application of high explosives!
  9. For practical map making advice @Combatintman is my 'go to guy'.....He's been helping me out with stuff while we were chatting. PS - Just checking out the updated version.....This map is crying out to be made into a QBM. Not 100% sure what the scripting requirements are for such a thing, as opposed to a regular scenario, but I seem to recall there being a recent thread on the subject.
  10. @Aquila-SmartWargames made something along those lines IIRC. It's technically possible to give a vague impression of 'Rattenkrieg' using the current CM mapping tools, by grouping buildings in clusters and then raising the surrounding terrain to create mounds of rubble burying the lower floors.....However it's a lot of work, there is only so much inter-connection that is possible without some kind of modding trickery (no tunnels under streets etc.) and direct access from the outside to what 'looks' like the ground level of these buildings is impossible.
  11. WTF? Sorry, misplaced post.....Not sure what happened there?
  12. Triggers are hugely hit & miss.....I often find good old fashioned timing can do things more reliably. However used in the right way (ask @MOS:96B2P once again) they can be utterly invaluable. The AI will blunder around like a fekkin idiot no matter how carefully you script your orders.....Initial placement of units can be equally important. You would not believe the hassle I've had getting three tanks to drive up a two-lane highway in an elegant & orderly fashion!
  13. This analogy I comprehend. LOL! I looked at it twice, 'cos it seemed wrong too.....Spellcheck doesn't work on this browser.
  14. Propaganda footage dude.....Both sides made loads. The water to the left of the submarine is somewhat more disturbed than the water to the right, probably from the prow of the stationary support ship.....The submarine was directed to make a close pass looking all gung-ho, at which point they detonate a mine or whatever for extra dramatic effect. That would me my guess at any rate. PS - You don't need to use depth-charges when the submarine is on the surface!
  15. TBH I was referring to tricks that may only be possible in the editor.....I have no idea whether purchasing dismounted guns as ammo dumps is even possible in a QB. I actually don't spend a lot of time playing unless I'm testing for myself or others. While I will openly admit to trying to break scenarios during that process, I don't do it by editor meddling.....I usually just opt for doing something insane, like driving straight up the main road at full speed with all guns blazing (Ask @MOS:96B2P sometime)!
  16. If I had to guess, I'd suspect this is a deliberate design decision to prevent borderline instant battlefield resupply of tanks.....Otherwise a cheaty player might buy a couple of Kingtigers and a bunch of PAK-43s, then dismount all the guns turning them into ammo dumps etc. etc.
  17. What are you using to extract it? The free version of WinRar does the trick for me every time. Gonna ping @BFCElvis as he's the man most likely to sort you out if there's a problem at the site end.
  18. PM Inbound.....I'm guessing you were already expecting one!
  19. I suppose it might have seeded itself and grown into a potatoe plant.....Still can't get a meaningful CM analogy out of it though.
