  1. Cheers.....Reckon I'll leave it for a 'Battle of Ghouta' scenario, one day, maybe.
  2. Fairly sure I'll be using this concept in a scenario, plenty of options in Syria, not sure if these were used in Mosul.....@Combatintman, any idea if the Iraqis had such a system, maybe with 9thAD?
  3. Variations on that theme would make a great backstory for a 'Flashpoint' type scenario.....@MOS:96B2P & I very briefly discussed the possibility of using Ukraine's 'Amber Wars' as a scenario hook in TOC: https://news.nationalgeographic.com/2017/01/illegal-amber-mining-ukraine/
  4. Yup.....I'd say it's about 80% effective in that role (to date). If you download the 'One Minute Test' file above and run it in author mode you can evaluate its effectiveness for yourself (the map is mined). It also leaves a handy trail of craters to show you what should be the 'safe route'
  5. Which do you think cost more, the drone, or all the ammo that they fired at it?
  6. Whatever you use it for, it's not at all kind to units in the vicinity!
  7. Cheers fella, it seems about 90% reliable as a demining tool and obviously you can tweak the charge placement for better (or worse) effects.....I tend to use the Huge charges around buildings as it creates a wonderfully complex moonscape even on dead flat ditch-locked areas (all the buildings here follow my usual policy). Detonation reliability is 100% so far, the longest it's taken to go off is 58 seconds. Here's a video of the charge in action, courtesy of @General Jack Ripper:
  8. CM:SF2 'One-Minute-Test' of a Snake type demining charge: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xaza5aww1cws6xk/[Test] Line Charge.btt?dl=0 Select Blue and click the big red button. Once you've tried it in your normal play mode, run it in scenario author mode (and/or look in the editor) to see the techniques used and monitor the effects in game (the map is mined in that area).
  9. I thought I'd done the same when bouncing IEDs around.....Actually come to think of it one of the possible setups was in the Blue setup zone! @Holdit.....Are you sure all your AI plans are active?
  10. This has got me wondering about a couple of failed experiments.....Did I paint a setup zone, or did I already 'know far too much' to do 'silly things like that'? Kudos to @Holdit for the reminder.
  11. My understanding matches the above, the painted setup areas in the 2d map editor are purely visual guides for human players.....AFAIK AI units only respond to painted setup areas in the AI editor.
  12. Oh I dunno.....If it had gone that way the CM family would be rather dull.
  13. Sadly I couldn't get it to work.....Looks like you do need that extra turn. I'm testing some moderately savage MOUT stuff right now, coordinating attacks is really quite challenging, but very satisfying when it goes right (and horrendously bloody when it doesn't).
  14. The forces of Muhammed Ghazi Ibn Squarehead have prepared a little present for the regime infidels: Boom! I'm pretty pleased with that.....@MOS:96B2P will know exactly why!
  15. This definitely appears to be the case with the newer engines, but it wasn't so with CM:SF1 as far as I can tell.....This may be the source of the confusion (not sure about CM:A).
  16. That matches my recollection come to think of it. FWIW
  17. What about giving them a facing or 180 arc, then a pause and a move to the same location, followed by the target arc? IIRC many weapons can move a short distance while remaining deployed, so perhaps you could move to a spot outside LOS but as close to your end position as possible, deploy the weapon and then use one or more short move commands with pauses between them to get the unit into it's final position?
  18. There's a significant difference between an export T-90S and a Russian T-90A and the difference between a Syrian T-72M1V or T-71M1V(2001) and a T-72B1 or T-72BM/BA is even bigger.....Definitely not saying that 'Euroscaping' can't be done or that it's not a good idea, just that one must accept that it will always be something of a approximation.
  19. Look at the size of that goddam engine.....It's humongous!
  20. Ah, the 'Pixeltruppen-Zombie-March-Of-Death'.....The stuff of scenario design nightmares! Bear with it, eventually you'll get the little swine to do what you want, you've already got 'em moving, so it's all just a matter of trial & error now. PS - Don't be afraid to tweak your map to do the AI pixeltruppen a few favours (don't do this for scenarios with a 2p HtH option) .
  21. Another interesting article, this one focussing on Abdul Rashid Dostum: https://limacharlienews.com/mena/general-dostum-hero-afghanistan/
