  1. Seriously.....Given the points I raise above? As I said, that really does seem rather short sighted.....Why limit what can actually be created with the games? PS - To put it another way.....Please explain to me how CM, as a game, benefits from not being able to choose a single man unit?
  2. Dude, it's simple mathematics 50% of 2 is always 1.....Not 1.2 (that wold be 60%), or 1.4 (70%) etc. etc. All the other slots give a random result if you are rounding fractions, so why mess up the maths for that one slot.....It's short-sighted & frankly, just plain dumb. Ignoring the 'Dirty Dozen', it is at present impossible to, with absolute certainty, model a unit with a single surviving officer.
  3. Why do that? If the designer wants randomness in his two man units he can always choose 60%, 70%, 80% or 90% (the Headcount for the individual unit will override that set for any parent formation). But for the designer that doesn't want randomness, 50% should be the one setting that will guarantee a single man.
  4. Yup, I know.....I've built a 'Dirty Dozen' type core, five of the members are single man teams already, no problem, but the other seven are two-man teams set to 50%: About one time in twenty (at an educated guess) when I load the core, one of these seven units has developed a mystery twin. And as I said right at the start 50% of two is always one, no exceptions, so there shouldn't ever be a variation.....If you want variation in your two man units just use the other 'Headcount' settings FFS (and leave this one for those of us who don't).
  5. There doesn't actually seem to be a consensus view that there is an issue in any of those threads.
  6. @Battlefront.com.....Is there any chance you guys could fix 'Headcount' so that when set to 50% strength, a two man unit ALWAYS becomes a single man? It's utterly bloody infuriating when a single man, especially one who is the subject for a scenario, mysteriously develops a twin. PS - For some reason several types of two man team are NEVER reduced at the 50% setting, including MGs & RPGs.....How is one expected to create Rambo adequately if one can't get a single man with a machinegun or a rocket-launcher? PPS - Most of my comments are based on CM:SF2, but I believe they generally apply more broadly too.
  7. Please can you provide a link to examples of this behaviour in CM:SF2?
  8. Appreciate the candid answer, look forward to the next step.
  9. Man you kids don't know how lucky you are with your new-fangled TRPs & Triggers! (Trundles off, muttering to himself in pidgin-Pashtu about young whippersnappers & their reliable mortars.)
  10. Fekkin Hippies! After some discussion, we're gradually coming to the conclusion that Vietnam, per se, is a tricky subjects for CM:SF2 (Technology's a b***h! ).....However the 'Drug Wars' and associated insurgencies of the 'Golden Triangle' should be eminently doable with a more or less identical mod set (& we can use most of the techno-toys too). To this end @37mm and I have begun creating the concept of a fictional country or province therein.....At present we are considering the possibilities of the faction riven region known to its inhabitants as 'Bong-Hai'.
  11. That almost sounds like a classic description of panic.....The air around them erupts with bullets, so they rush into the nearest cover that is in front of their eyes. Having survived the initial bedlam they then take stock of the situation and attempt to 'restore the line'. I'm not convinced at all that's what's intended here, but there is a sort of sense to it.
  12. I'd probably be happiest if they spoke English with comedy 'South American' accents (especially if they said things "Now you die, gringo!" a lot) .
  13. Anyone tried using a Sturmtiger against bridges at all? If anything will bring one down..... This we like.
  14. Just edited my post, with what is apparently the period specific version (1889-1960).....Buggered if I can see the difference! Is it my imagination or is the southern cross mirrored on the flag but correct in the military insignia?
  15. Many thanks to you good sir.....You may not entirely approve of what I'm planning on doing with them, but then again, you might. PS - Any new terrain types other than snowy stuff that you can show us.....Hoping for things suitable for warmer climes?
  16. Nope, any old kind will do.....And you can never use too many: Boom! They can also be quite useful: PS - These are special effects created with various IEDs & VBIEDs for use in fairly cataclysmic scenarios (my 'Shock-Effect' format as @Erwin calls it).....Both are (to date) 100% reliable and self-cleaning, no IEDs remain in either instance and all of the triggermen remove themselves in the latter variant too (it also really does clear mines, mostly).
  17. Breach Teams for Uncons in CM:SF2.....Minor tweak but it would make a big difference to those of us who use them (adding pickups to the Single Vehicles list would be nice too). The ability to set all vehicles as either genuinely dismounted or as ammo dumps across all the games.....More freedom to swap crews would be awesome. The ability to attach smaller Formations to larger ones might be cool too.
