Just deploy 'em next to an ammo dump (dismounted mortar supply truck).

New Module coming For Blitzkrieg
Sgt.Squarehead replied to user1000's topic in Combat Mission Final Blitzkrieg
The fighting in the Scheldt Estuary should be a must for any future CW module in CM:FB.....On a personal note I'd like to see the Belgians, as the 1st AC Squadron was based just up the road from me in Malvern, prior to returning to liberate their homeland: http://www.be4046.eu/ACSqdn.htm http://www.warwheels.net/images/ACJfinal17.pdf -
The 'Never Say You've Seen It All' Thread
Sgt.Squarehead replied to Machor's topic in General Discussion Forum
Did you see any footage of the recent storm? We're a bit further up the coast, but the storm surge still laid waste to a sea-wall.....That doesn't normally happen in the Med! -
Bingo!

How do you advance over open terrain?
Sgt.Squarehead replied to Yskonyn's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 2
I think the Recon Fennek's MMS may be modelled at least in part, they are insanely good at spotting stuff. -
A 'Core Unit File' can be configured and used in any number of ways, the options are almost limitless.....The lack of losses you are seeing might be down to fresh units being selected from the Core with each battle, or it might be because the campaign scripts for resupply and replacements are set to 100% (checking the SLs' names might give a clue).

The Year Ahead Bone Post
Sgt.Squarehead replied to Battlefront.com's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
If it were a toss-up between 'Feldgrau/Panzergrau' & IS-3s, I'd take the early war every time.....But then a small part of me would begin to hanker for Dicker Max, Sturer Emil, KV-220 & the SU-100Y to become available, regardless of their actual rarity. PS - The inclusion of the PZ.II Luchs in ALL of the WWII titles always amuses me, it was only ever intended to be an interim type and only one hundred were made.....IIRC only 4th & 9th Pz. Divisions had a full complement in their recon battalions. -

It didn't, hence the 'Pretty Much' part of the comment.....But damn wouldn't be cool if it had! "Not so tough now, eh Mr Kingtiger?" -
Sales-Discounts How Often?
Sgt.Squarehead replied to philstat's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 2
Had a feeling that would happen. TBH I'm more of a CM:SF2 man myself, there's just so many options to choose from, especiially when you factor in all the mods.....Black Sea needs a module or two before it will be in the same league on that front. -

I feel pretty much the same way about IS-3s (even if they were really badly put together): See you at the Rhine! -
New Scenario: Coup D'etat
Sgt.Squarehead replied to MOS:96B2P's topic in CM Shock Force 2 Maps and Mods
You should have a lot of fun with that one fella, it's definitely among the most imaginative & novel CM:SF scenarios ever created.....Give my regards to group #13. -
Ten at a time, keep on saving.....TBH @DougPhresh I don't disagree that fortifications can be a chore, doubly so in QBs, but they wouldn't be at the top of my list of things to change.

It seems a little bit too much!
Sgt.Squarehead replied to Aquilaruspante's topic in CM2 General Tech Support
Most Elefants broke down, fell off the road or ran out of fuel.....Of the eleven sent to Italy IIRC only one was KOed by direct tank fire, that by M10 Tank Destroyers firing from the flanks, which makes this: Very good advice. https://mikesresearch.com/2019/07/28/elefants-in-italy-1944/ -
These look a lot of fun.

What I'd like to see in CM3...

Yes.....Yes they did. -
This video strongly suggests that the turret bar-armour is very prone to damage:

China, Israel, France and other TO&Es!?!
Sgt.Squarehead replied to philstat's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
Many of the names in CM:BS are feminine (Ivanova etc.). In some ways it might actually be easier to do than 'Heaven Earth'.....A pretty tolerable Magach could be made by dropping a variant of our M60 onto the Canadian Leopard C2 Mexas. A Merkava II or III could be represented by one of the lower end Abrams variants. I guess what it really needs is someone to give it the required time and effort (which are not inconsiderable). -
German Panzer Grenadier doctrine
Sgt.Squarehead replied to lsailer's topic in Combat Mission - General Discussion
TBH, the only KO by direct gunfire that I recall was by M10s. -

Consensus for the Best CMSF2 Module?!?
Sgt.Squarehead replied to philstat's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 2
It's well worth it, you get a bunch of new content (four new nations + USMC, all with unique TOE), 4+ campaigns (fully updated variants of almost all of them are available here), god knows how many scenarios.....Only the CM:BN Bundles possibly contain more. -
China, Israel, France and other TO&Es!?!
Sgt.Squarehead replied to philstat's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
Not sure how the first two would get to the Ukraine? Don't disagree with the broader idea at all (many of us would love a sandbox type game on this engine), but that's not really how BfC seem to work. If you would be interested in a fully-modded far-eastern variant of CM:SF2, keep an eye on the 'Heaven & Earth' thread:
