PPSh this: After a truly brutal firefight in the police station, the surviving Sarandoy (and their nasty SMGs) all went and hid in a corner.....I just couldn't resist! Which was actually quite fortunate as it triggered a surrender and we won the day.....Our losses were, to say the least, greivous! Of a starting force of about 400 men, 100 were killed and another 140 seriously wounded. But you should see the other guy! This scenario (Winter of Discontent) will be up for wider testing shortly.....Ping me a PM if you are interested. -
GIGANTIC SURPRISE!!! 12 YEAR MYSTERY SOLVED!
Sgt.Squarehead replied to Mord's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 2
Awesome stuff @Mord! I'd definitely get some advice from @37mm about losing the chinstrap, that's kind of a Sikh thing AFAIK. PS - Outta likes again, sorry.....Stick another one on the slate! -

Did I mention that the fighting in the mosque was kind of heavy? What's behind the fun door? Sarandoy.....With PPSh SMGs! PS - The mosque is a preserve objective and I've already blown a couple of holes in it to avoid having to use the front door.....These two would long ago have gone to meet their maker (accompanied by a 100mm HE round) under other circumstances! -
Thompson sights what are they ranged for?
Sgt.Squarehead replied to com-intern's topic in Combat Mission Final Blitzkrieg
Oh no.....There were two of them: They did this: AFAIK at least one of them is still alive.....I'm now blowing the hell out of the police headquarters with a T-55, mostly in the hope of inducing a global surrender, as these two clearly have no intention of doing so on their own! -

PPSh is the best room-sweeper in the game.....It's present in CM:A (both sides have them), and it was largely responsible for this: That's two turns fighting, mostly with PPSh & Grenades.....Note that almost all of the dead guys had AKs! PS - Oh my god.....There is another one in there and he has a PPSh! By my calculation another 112 'Celestial Virgins' are now fully occupied! -
Just been reading a book about Operation Columba: https://www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v41/n07/jon-day/operation-columba

Despite an ongoing struggle with 'Out Of memory Errors' (which seem much more prevalent on my Win10 machine than they were on its Win7 predecessor), testing of 'Winter of Discontent' continues.....Hizb-e-Islami forces have reached the town mosque, the fighting for the building has been rather heavy: The left wing of the building is still in enemy hands.....I think there's only a dude with an LMG in there, but it cost me two more valiant Mujahideen to find that out! -

Generally no doubt, but to achieve the particular quality of images we're talking about, probably still takes some tuning. @HerrTom would be the guy to make it clear, I'm certainly curious to know. -

You knocked that sucker well & truly outta the park mate! @puje's 'Year Of The Rat' campaign for CM:SF2 'Heaven & Earth' is available here: -
Truly beautiful.....Your mountain villages in particular really impress me, as I know just what a pig it can be to make them (and the roads leading to them).

I'd imagine that he has to tune his setting for each different map TBH.....What works well in one environment, won't always look so good in others. -

I think you are OK with .50cal, just don't use anything bigger, especially if it's firing HE. -

Lovely work fella.....Those look the business! -
The current rail lines are somewhat curved (moreso than the roads).....I think that image might just be a case of seeing them at a particularly optimal angle. That said, I always live in hope of more editor options, you really can never have too many!

Sgt.Squarehead replied to Aquila-SmartWargames's topic in CM2 Scenario and Mod Tips
I'm really intrugued by the potential of this mod.....Gonna ping @MOS:96B2P too, 'cos I suspect it'll be of interest to him too. I've been wanting to build a properly ruined city for a while.....The new options this mod might offer (if the issues described above can be resolved) make that idea even more appealing. -
Overpowered Buildings?
Sgt.Squarehead replied to jxrey's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
One pure game mechanics trick that is very useful in urban combat with the current engine is, to give any units that make into a bulding alive and intact a permanent Pause command.....This helps to mitigate the current engine's occasionally somewhat unpredictable fire avoidance routines. @Aquila-SmartWargames Has found a way to trigger grenade use.....Hopefully he will pop into this thread with a link to his video.- 43 replies
