The downed plane is really cool, but it should probably be a bit rustier.....It's an 'Emil' which means its been there since 1941. -
Overpowered Buildings?
Sgt.Squarehead replied to jxrey's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Does anyone have a turn-based save? Preferably Iron Mode? I am genuinely intrigued to see what the score is (and fight the battle), but don't have time for a(nother) campaign right now.....I can't get my head around realtime at all these days, although I used to like it for (very) small unit actions.- 43 replies

Heaven & Earth - "Open Beta"
Sgt.Squarehead replied to 37mm's topic in CM Shock Force 2 Maps and Mods
It would be great to see more AARs & get more feedback on the package. On a personal level I'd really like to see more users getting into the 'Heaven & Earth' editor, even that is different to CM:SF2 these days..... @37mm has done an enormous amount of work, putting together a truly comprehensive mod, it really is different enough to justify a second install (I have one). PS - @Combatintman.....Ever the guru mate. Which have you done more of, CTS or scenario designers, I wonder? -
That's not as simple as you might hope.....TOE lists can vary by the month. Seriously.

I don't know about Google specifically, but usually it's a case of copying the URL of the hosted image, then clicking the 'Insert other media' tab in the bottom right of the forum's text window. Select 'Insert image from URL', paste your image's URL there, and Bob (should be) your uncle. -

Makes sense.....Those were my former main stomping ground, but then old age & my eyesight met. -

You chose some interesting Pz.IV pictures there, George.....The first one looks to be a command tank and the closest tank in the second picture looks very much like an early production Pz.IV Ausf J. -

So disappointed that this never happened.....It would have been hilarious. Fortunately we have simulation games. -
is this the hedgrow bug v4????
Sgt.Squarehead replied to Bubba883XL's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I'm more of an ATGM (& IED) man.....So I can't say I'd particularly noticed one personally. -
More of these maps I open, the more I admire what you've done.....My hat's off to you fella.

A couple of small indirect fire pointers.....Make your target zones a bit smaller & more precise than you would ideally like. The targeted area represents an optimum kill zone, if you will, the actual shells will spread out, a lot! Even a Point target will not result in pinpoint impacts unless you are using precision guided munitions (unlikely in CM:BN), and these can be an excellent choice for taking out small clusters of troops, just stick the point in the middle of 'em somewhere. Make sure your observer has good LOS to the target right up until FFE, the sketchier his LOS, the more the impact spot will deviate.

is this the hedgrow bug v4????
Sgt.Squarehead replied to Bubba883XL's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
That looks more like plain ordinary panic to me.....The hedgerow bug usually features a unit behind tall bocage taking a casualty and fleeing through a gap in that bocage, apparently towards the enemy (although that may not be how the unit itself perceives things). -
I'd second that.....It was possible in CMx1 (I miss the tension for my AT Gun crews as the wrecks start to move). However it would need to be sensibly implemented.....No Pz.II Luchs bulldozing a wrecked Kingtiger off the road etc.
