no it is across the board, none of the above will help or hurt. Maybe in a next generation engine, but not this one. Dynamic lighting events with an impact on spotting would be outstanding, but currently burning vehicles have no impact beyond looking cool at night.

Price Break for Commonwealth/Market Garden
sburke replied to norvandave's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
the thread is about a discount, you took in the direction of wanting more. So yes the thread goes in both directions. -
Price Break for Commonwealth/Market Garden
sburke replied to norvandave's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
heh so there is kind of the crux. If we want BF to do half of what we users want, we have to support them being as profitable as possible to afford doing it... soooooo asking for discounts AND asking to kick up development are kind of mutually exclusive. -
Pinelands? Who is doing the Jersey Devil mod?

there is only one flat roof structure in CMBN/MG- Independent building 3 stories with a rail in front. I can still deploy units on it.

if they can do facial recognition this seems like a walk in the park. I watch NCIS I know that they can tell where anybody has been in the US just by checking ATM camera feeds remotely...somehow.... Seriously though facial recognition is out there and that would seem to be harder to do than matching the size ratio of a known image that is much more fixed than human faces.

Price Break for Commonwealth/Market Garden
sburke replied to norvandave's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
you are looking at it all wrong. It isn't $5 off, it is 7% off!! Don't you feel a whole lot better? kidding There is a battlepack coming. I don't expect to see a CW/MG discount, but one never knows. Those modules have been out, but that doesn't usually mean a BF discount is coming. I usually look at it this way. If I were to wait 6 months and get a $15 dollar discount sale, would I wait. Not likely. That is 6 months of lost playing time. If it were a game I was really unsure if I'd like, yeah maybe, but CM is a known quantity. Hell I just assigned an SSD just for my CM games and am just finishing moving them all. -
CMSF Original Disk but Can't Install
sburke replied to huhr's topic in Combat Mission: Shock Force Tech Support
I just decided to move my install to a new drive. Went through the whole unlicense, remove, re install re license pretty much without a hitch, but yeah the disks take a while spinning up in the drive before I get prompted to install (and by that I mean windows recognizing the disk and asking what I want to do - then after waiting a while I eventually get the installation prompts). Running windows 10. I did not have to run as admin, I just had to be really really patient. -
it will, when it is time. .... .... .... WHICH CAN'T COME FAST ENOUGH!!!

Not sure but would have to verify, but from a general perspective the superior optics have a very limited focal point so yeah if you are looking at a single spot they are superior, but if you are trying to watch the horizon you would end up with serious tunnel vision. Binoculars outside the hatch would be far better.

yeah was about to say the same.

Honda Civic owners, this is for you

good thing he has that dice or he'd be in real trouble trying to "get lucky". -
Interestingly I did the tour of the Forum back in 2012. Seems they are beginning to re evaluate Nero as the histories have mostly been written by his detractors. Even Tacitus had this to say about the fire. According to Tacitus, upon hearing news of the fire, Nero returned to Rome to organize a relief effort, which he paid for from his own funds.[101] Nero's contributions to the relief extended to personally taking part in the search for and rescue of victims of the blaze, spending days searching the debris without even his bodyguards.[citation needed] After the fire, Nero opened his palaces to provide shelter for the homeless, and arranged for food supplies to be delivered in order to prevent starvation among the survivors. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nero

Removing "Paused" script for screenshots?
sburke replied to mjkerner's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
It is 4 years old, but I still keep this link for overall clarity on doing screenshots. 1. Grab a Kodak moment First of all, let's say the obvious: think what you want to do with your screenshot. If you want to show how a specific mechanic in the game looks like, it's okay to show it au naturel. But on the other hand, if you saw a breathtaking moment and want to share it with others, it's a good idea to turn off all the extra fluff, like icons (alt+I), make sure that trees are shown etc. Whether to show hit texts depends on what you want to show - you decide. Bumping up the 3D Quality for your shot is a good idea. The zoom option is also your friend. But perhaps most importantly, be aware that the 'Game is paused' text can be hidden if you press Shift+Esc to pause the game. -

Dramatic Change in Russian Attack Helicopter Tactics
sburke replied to John Kettler's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
I have an idea, this time around how about Canada and the rest of NATO pony up and do the dying? Why does it have to be a US commitment to resolve things? Other NATO nations can go and get some battle experience this time and then deal with the painful aftermath of looking after your vets who have paid the price. And please don't say they already have, the numbers just don't cut that argument. I for one agree with the position argued here that putting boots on the ground isn't gonna help here. If Russia, Iran and Hezbollah want to spend their soldiers lives getting mired in this, have at it. Frankly the power structure that exists in most of the Middle East is not based on a real national awareness and until it is there isn't much anyone is gonna do to help build solid national institutions. As to the Helo discussion- part of the reason this thread is going off topic is the original postulation was wrong and enough people chimed in on that to make it a moot point. Russia will eventually learn that their helos aren't immune, ISIS and the rebels will eventually come up with effective counter measures. A few Helos shot down will see the Russians adapt. -
You Canadians really are a nice bunch. Seriously - nice of you to recognize someone's efforts to make this a more welcoming place.

LLF look closely at the mountain village shot above, that is CMBS. Here is another. The only thing we don't really have is mosque roofs, but one can work without that for most stuff.

Dramatic Change in Russian Attack Helicopter Tactics
sburke replied to John Kettler's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
I don't think he was saying they weren't, but rather referring to them more as peers. Sort of like saying the US called on it's NATO allies in Afghanistan - it doesn't mean US is not NATO, but that the other members are purportedly it's allies. Just an expression. -
Wait does that mean we are going back to CMx1 borg spotting? Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!
