  1. That is a pretty harsh assessment of a 2 person team. How did you come to the determination that they were no longer listening versus just really busy? Periodically we get these “BF really hates their users” posts and they just don’t add up. You don’t produce this game with just a couple people who could make much more elsewnere if they really had this level of regard for their client base. They just don’t think the constant cries for a regular information cycle are near as important as some folks try to claim they are. BF has for a very very long time expressly said they do not believe in giving constant updates if they don’t have anything important to note. This is not at all new behavior and is a simple reflection of their work priorities. Would we all like more info, yes. What I don’t need is monthly updates that are just - “nothing much new here..... still working on stuff. See you next month” I personally prefer that they focus on producing and letting me know if there is something significant it isn’t gonna change my life to know that 4.0 patch might be out next week versus a month from next week.
  2. Steve we need the patch right now!!!!! Xorg headed to your place.
  3. man you guys are just way over reacting. and Sgt Squarehead, flinging personal insults is gonna get you a time out. You know Steve has a low tolerance for that. As to the rest, think about it just a minute before continuing to get wound up. The 4.0 patch isn't just an item for one title. There are now CMBN, CMFI, CMFB, CMRT, CMBS and CMSF2 to worry about. Also the infantry reaction to artillery etc may not be all BF wants to address and you all already know they are working on multiple titles so c'mon it really isn't all that outrageous for an essentially 2 man team. Yes we'd all like things to move faster, but they aren't so chill out. Or you can do what I did today. I'm tearing up my driveway so I took a couple slabs of the concrete, spray painted 4.0 on them and hit em with a sledge hammer. I feel SOOOO mush better.
  4. That is poor reasoning. How specific does any designer get as to really really specific AI reaction and KNOWING that the only reason BF would be considering a patch is the behavior needs to be adjusted makes that a pretty strawman excuse. Make your maps, pick your forces, lay out basic parameters. All that can be done, no excuse. Once more into the scenario creation breach my friends!!!! Hell look at the scenarios created for CMSF 1 without all the benefits of the 4.0 engine...oh the shame...
  5. This is likely never gonna happen. BF figures you guys should know their policy by now on why they don't bother to spend much time on updates on POTENTIAL timelines. What's the point? So now you know what MIGHT be another possible date. You guys - no disrespect intended- need to get some other things to fill the void - MAKE SCENARIOS Yeah I beta test now, but I was in your position then (and sometimes still am) and I understood they'd update when it made sense to update. That time is not now, at least right now. What? no way Steve I just said not now, give it at least another day, they can wait... oh crap is this mic on?
  6. True but better than me posting stormy Daniels. I think I’d have gotten a forum timeout from Steve.
  7. I did that once. Took me 3 days of heavy drinking to recover. I swore it off. Mirrors I mean. As Kilgore Trout would say "Don't get too near that leak. You wouldn't want to wind up in the other universe, would you?" in all seriousness, as c3k said.. wait a minute serious and c3k in the same sentence? at any rate, unless Steve pops up there is not much to be said.
  8. I was gonna refer you to Stormy Daniels, but this is better.
  9. Well Steve’s tan has improved greatly and Charle’s jar gets a special onsen water treatment every afternoon ...oh wait you thought they were working. Hell no, they have been spending their millions in ill gotten gains partying at various destinations around the globe. I hear they are considering returning soon though. They have been kicked out of nearly every bar in a dozen vacation spots and need some time for the owners to forget them.
  10. I take it you have never had to correct anything or worked on something complex enough to have unintended consequences. Must be nice. Me, I screw stuff up all the time and try to do my home improvement projects with an eye toward making corrections easy cause I know I am gonna make mistakes, hey wait a minute, wonder if that has anything to do with my wife expressing concerns about my projects . . . . Nahh that couldn’t possibly be related.
  11. The ptsd for the enemy pixeltruppen is a lot more severe though.
  12. well my experience in the game does not match yours so I'd have to say you are reacting before we know the full story (game saves are the best way to demonstrate) and that isn't going to get much traction here. It is really hard to offer suggestions, advice or just agree that yeah that was a sucky situation with no data. Yes there are going to be situations where the game will absolutely not be able to match reality. It is only a game that costs $50 after all. However even within those confines I have had even the AI snipers reek havoc on my troops and frustrate the crap out of me.
  13. Yeah I am not looking for seeing it in game. Just like we don't have friendly fire for small arms. The player would have difficulty managing it, the AI forget it. There are a lot of things that need to be forgone in order for the game to function. I'd love for tank guns to be unable to rotate in small street confines, but then the AI would be screwed.
  14. Which is why so many of us swear by wego. Otherwise we wouldn’t get these.
  15. Spoiler. He dies on the eastern front sent there by Paula’s lover - a high ranking party official. Oh sorry did I say that out loud?
  16. I am betting the front line troops would have objected to trying to put the MGS in that role. It wouldn’t survive the combat environment. If on the other hand they were trying to reduce their inventory. . . .
  17. It is still there, but it doesn’t work that way. Clear target removes any target or face orders, but if you want to prevent a unit from firing you will need to either give it a short target arc or some other command to tell it you do not want it to fire at a unit it perceives as a legitimate target.
  18. Yeah for one thing distance matters. 200 meters isn’t enough to really hide that sharpshooter. Regarding the above point about practice I’d also suggest testing. Take advantage of the editor to do some trial and error on weapons systems. If you are like me and not much of a grog, understanding the capabilities of the systems in game is really important. While I have a general understanding, I definitely lack specific knowledge and experience. Finding out just how far away a sharpshooter should engage and maintain concealment is a pretty easy one to play with and it will help improve your experience a lot. Play with the terrain, is your sharpshooter in trees but the underlying tile just plain grass or is it a light forest tile? That makes a huge difference.
  19. I have Into Oblivion. Haven’t gotten very far through it, but a good read nevertheless.
  20. I was more curious about the over pressure. The story was pretty graphic on how it affected those 2 Marines and they were on a roof. Thinking my troops lying next to a tank as it fires looks kinda dumb.
