  1. That explains a certain scenario concept.
  2. Same here. The scenario was a blast, but even more interesting are the ideas in it. Between that and the TOC scenario there are a whole lot of very creative “tricks” for unusual scenario design. Exciting stuff
  3. no you missed what I said. It did not work in CMBS. It did work in CMSF2. Will it still work when released? No idea. And sorry I don't think it is appropriate for me to be pushing an item like that with BF. It will be what it will be and anything further is likely going to get me spanked. I may even be over the line already. Still I will keep my fingers crossed for ya.
  4. interestingly I can't..... In CMBS if I use this method the US teams simply show up back in the vehicle even if you deploy them elsewhere. As CMSF2 isn't done yet I can't guarantee this will work once released, but what I did was 1 buy red units 2 go to mission data and set to blue vs blue 3 go back to red units and buy humvees 4 deploy red units - dismount US soldiers, mount insurgents in US vehicles 5 go back to mission data and set to blue vs red Save When opened as a battle now the insurgents are in the US vehicles and the US crews are hanging out wherever you set them
  5. see the CMSF2 thread, you just need to be a little more creative and stop obsessing over the way you used to do things.
  6. It can't be done the way you used to do it, but as I suggested before there may be other methods. For example. You buy the supply platoon. You go to deploy units, you dismount the US troops and go stick them somewhere they are useless, like a building a room with no exits ( @MOS:96B2P did this in his TOC scenario) and you mount your insurgents - voila you now have insurgents in US Humvees. Yes I tried it, yes it works.
  7. can't speak for that but I had a Stryker pound the crap out of a T 72 at close range with a 40 mm launcher (in CMBS) to the point the T 72 backed away and fled Isn't something I'd ever count on doing again.
  8. Actually Fulda Gap is just a generic term. What is the first campaign I'd like to see done in CM... errrr….. Group of Soviet Forces Germany - would be First Clash on the Canadian 4th Mech Bde Grp. Love that book
  9. My response- "are you freakin kidding me? With all the possibilities you give me those 2 options?" My preferences - 1. CM Afghanistan remade in CM 4.0 with both the USSR Era and the current war represented 2. Fulda Gap 3. Mid East war 67/73. However given only those two choices - early war. Desert is boring - especially the maps. Much rather have the Fall of France. Stonne as a campaign game!!!!!!
  10. This is why Steve doesn't generally start these threads. You know we can only answer so much due to NDA and Steve can't stop to answer several pages of questions. Yeah it is like getting an appetizer only to find out dinner isn't for an hour and you've eaten nothing else all day....
  11. I’m actually still using Kieme’s buildings when not actually checking beta issues. I just like the more dilapidated look and the roof hatches.
  12. I am not sure how that would be simpler than them listing the game and engine versions in the splash screen. In your example CMBN might be 4.04 for example and CMFB might be 4.02. Is that better than CMBN game version 4 engine version 4 CMFB game version 2 engine version 4 to be honest part of why it is this way is legacy of tracking engine versions versus game releases as all games were at different levels. It was very convoluted for a while. Now that all are running the same version 4 it might be time to toss the game version as it has lost it’s significance . CMSF2 for example would be game version 1 engine version 4 There really isn’t much significance now to the game version
  13. Sou (coin), historically, a French coin worth 5 centimes, and now slang for a coin of little value. Smackdown! Kidding yeah I realize it is just a typo, just funny.
  14. Heh been lobbying them to bend to.a Fulda gap timeline. So far the answer is still no. I am looking at retirement soon though and at that point I can seriously invest some time to wear Steve down. seriously though CMSF is in a nice sweet spot time wise . M1s are not uber powerful and it has great modding possibilities. My one wish is probably to have the ability to do a more temperate climate region and snow. Maybe we’ll see another European mod pack for CMSF2.
  15. I am one of those who thought I'd like a feature like that, but everything I have read or seen makes me thing maybe not. I would like the ability to spot an IED, but disarming is a specialized engineer function and tends to mean the cordon troops sitting around to make sure as much as possible the area is clear while the engineers deal with it which in CM terms would be a fairly slow scenario with nothing happening. @Sgt.Squarehead has developed (my apologies if the idea originated elsewhere, but his scenario is the first I saw using it) a methodology where you have clues to IED placement. You can't disarm, but you can potentially avoid and hunt for the triggerman. The additional use of touchpoints would allow a designer to give the player an opportunity to confirm an IED location even if you can't see it and the triggerman is gone.
  16. rumor has it that certain vehicles have that capability even in CMSF.
  17. Don't take this as gospel, but it is similar to the question someone else posted and Steve confirmed the answer. Basically you are able to get discounts on everything you purchased. So you'd get the discounted base +marines+british, but no discount on the NATO module assuming you want it (and you know you do. ) Net result $35 + cost of NATO module which I don't think Steve has listed yet. Steve can sort out your CMSF base - the key is irrelevant anymore - you'll have a new one for CMSF2, but he'll figure out the old one or at least confirm you have it...wouldn't make much sense to have the modules if you didn't Do you have CMSF still installed? I believe if you go to unlicense it will show your key. I wouldn't do that until you are ready to move on juuuuusssssttt in case.
  18. man that is such a dead give away. I recognize that tree branch!
  19. last note mentioned sunday as when he thinks he'll get to it.
