  1. Mine was it actually hitting him. Only once but it was funny as hell. "splash over"...… "Splash out"....."Splash over"...… " I said splash over"...…. "Hey you still need arty?"... "hello?"
  2. Oh crap, who left the door open? c3k!!!! I told you not to let him out of the basement and anywhere near the forum until after release!
  3. LOL hold up the release everyone we got to get rid of the chirping birds!!! Yeah I suspect that may be an early mod.
  4. A big thank you to @IICptMillerII for taking on doing some video work for us all. I hope this means more good bits to come.
  5. Engineer Squads are 6 men - you can select MOUT for a couple formations to also get demo charges and then you'd have normal squad sizes.
  6. someone would have to be the helpdesk, have you opened a ticket with them?
  7. Not necessarily the funniest I have read, but it is getting there. The nazi ice cream truck with the jingle jangle was still the bar setting moment. @Blazing 88's that was perfect! Fortunately I was not eating or drinking so low risk to my monitor.
  8. Yeah I don’t recall Steve ever committing to uncons for CMBS. The problem is interpreting current events against BF scenarios. It is something that keeps coming up regarding Syria and CMSF as well. CMBS was never intended to be the hybrid warfare model of the current situation, it was more a full on invasion of Ukraine. If you read the back story in the manual they explicitly state what it is they are portraying in the game or not and the uncon forces and situation in the Donbass is not part of the game portrayal. That being said it is always possible they could revisit that in a pack.
  9. I was hoping a MAC user would take this on, but barring that what you can do is create an activate shortcut. Copy your regular shortcut to somewhere else then edit it. This is my CMBS shortcut "H:\Battlefront\Combat Mission Black Sea\CM Black Sea.exe" This is my activation shortcut "H:\Battlefront\Combat Mission Black Sea\CM Black Sea.exe" -showui
  10. I would hardly call it a "heated reaction", but this also isn't what you said. It was simply a correction (again) to something you keep saying about map sizes that is misinformation. On the other hand all of the above is absolutely valid (except maybe the bit about CMx1 being more fun. I personally don't enjoy it as much because I am addicted to the 1:1 of CMx2 - but that is just my personal opinion). However none of it is a valid response to the correction about map sizes. I actually have created a number of maps that push the limits of CMx2 in several titles. I don't see them getting much use and there are likely 2 reasons for that. As you noted they take more "oomph" in computing power and CM battles on that scale take longer than CMx1. That does not however invalidate that CMx2 maps can be pretty much the same size.
  11. Yeah ETA- never. Well not anytime soon anyway. It was tried, it was wonky. The idea is good, the ability to implement apparently not so good.
  12. I want a forum thread on your travels. It'll give us something to look at instead of complaining about release dates. So what is the plan you have so far?
  13. Damn you, I almost spit out my wine! Way too funny. We just finished our bathroom upgrade and part of why it took so long is I will not do plumbing work.
  14. LOL Well before the blow up starts again. BF didn't actually set a firm deadline. They never do. What they do is sometimes give an estimated timeline. Those are almost always wrong Steve is an eternal optimist and real life stuff almost always intervenes sometimes to extreme degrees. In this particular case hopefully it won't be far off. CMSF2 has taken longer than expected but part of that is Steve has allowed some wiggle room about not just updating the game to the 4.0 engine but also addressing some additional content and having folks invest effort to update all the scenarios and campaigns - that is a full base game and 3 modules worth of stuff. So in short the answer to your question is both yes and no. There was no actual "deadline", but yeah they miss target dates a lot. In fact I assume any target date immediately to be the date it WON"T be ready
  15. I was so tempted to start that as soon as you suggested it. LOL Rules rants only allowed no one is allowed to contradict or disagree with the rant. You can create your own rant with a contradictory position, but not as a reply or argument to any other rant.
  16. Man this is a tough one. My experience is the first moment you consider disengaging is probably the time to do it. We have this tendency to try and wring every last bit out of an engagement we can and that becomes our downfall. Suffice it to say that if you don't think you are assured at maintaining fire superiority, then bug out to the next defensible position. Don't second guess it, don't wait. This also varies in terms of playing a human versus the AI. Tactics that work against one don't uniformly apply to the other. The AI will blindly move into a position where you have already sprung an ambush so versus the AI it may make sense to stay put. Against a human opponent, if you have done some damage then take it for what it is worth and go. If done well your opponent won't know and will have to approach and assault a now empty position costing them time and likely ammo. As others noted you cannot heal or regain numbers. You can however recover fatigue and shake off the effects of suppression which will make that unit more effective in it's next position.
  17. LOL I can totally relate. I won't even start on some of the project issues I am having. It would take too many beers and it waters down too much when I cry in it.
  18. Whew mousie is a good handle, you are popping up all over the place with new threads. You are asking a ton of questions and they are good, but the problem is they are far too broad to get a decent answer in a forum context. Combat Mission is not a game you truly "master", but the good tactics are something you can learn and apply. What you need is some detailed tutorial information demonstrating various aspects of the game and the tactics to handle it. You may still not always win, but you'll at least put up a good fight. So here you go. This is a really good series. Search youtube and you'll find a lot more.
  19. contact the helpdesk. Don't know the process for BF about those who own the base game and being able to preorder the modules. BF will sort you out.
