Huge props to you for controlling variables and achieving a meaningful sample size.  I have an issue with your criteria for "firepower."  I think it is an oversimplication of the number of factors that go into firepower, leading to a mischaracterization of the scoped rifles having the greatest "firepower."  Firepower is really a combination of hit rate, ability to penetrate cover and ability to generate suppression.  For example, put an MG team in a building then hide it after it is initially spotted.  Do the scoped rifles still have the greatest "firepower" to neutralize this threat?

But if seriously concerned about their country's future autonomy, T-72B3, BMP-2 and BTR-82A might be better enemies to know.

    Purchase Syrian Commandos.
    Rename to Taliban Commandos.
    Done. (Beard mod not included.)

Lol, I had no idea.  Intuitively it should be the other way around (full unit shown by default, HQ details shown when clicking on "HQ").

Not yet, but on paper the Jäger Battalion it is very similar to the Gebirgsjäger Battalion.  Other divisional units are the same as Gebirgsjäger or regular infantry divisions.  No connection to Panzerjäger units, which is a term used for all tank destroyer formations (but the Panzerjäger battalion in a Jäger or Gebirgsjäger division was the same as that in a regular infantry division).

Likewise for Russia.  Could replace T-90AM with T-72B and BMP-3M/2M with BMP-1.

You think that abuse and extra-judicial killing in war is primarily a cultural / ethnic / racial issue?

There are exactly as many Oplots in Ukrainian service as there are T-90Ms in Russian service.

akd got a reaction from Bydax in Armata soon to be in service.
Some odd criticism getting bandied about here:

-seating in BMP-3 "Dragoon" appears better than in Bradley, including more room for personnel seated forward of turret to exit.

-recoil on Armata does not induce a stability problem. You can see that gunner's sight stays right on target when firing. The system does not care if barrel moves relative to sight because the barrel has to move after firing for auto-loader regardless. Also, comparing to recoil on M1A2 is somewhat silly. Bigger gun on lighter tank = more chassis movement. Recoil on the chassis appears in line with, or less than, previous T-series tanks.

-MFDs with touch functionality are pretty much standard in modern AFVs

-decision to stick with cheap, gap-bridging upgrades on BMP-2, BMP-3 and T-72Bs was I believe intentional to free-up funding for the next-generation vehicles, not a cut-back of a more ambitious upgrade program.

The question I have is whether existing BMP-3s can even be upgraded to "Dragoon" level, or if that requires new-build hulls?

Use of the camouflage uniform was abandoned due to potential for confusion with SS uniforms.

Why does BFC have to use US Army definition of penetration? From a game design standpoint, it is the least useful.

You are totally misremembering those discussions. As usual, on point with bad info.
The bug related to weapons setup in buildings (units entering deploying loop) is related to the position chosen along the wall of the building, not anything to do with height of unit / window.

AT-7 and AT-13 can be used shoulder-fired, which I think they default to indoors.

akd got a reaction from ninetofive in AKD sound mod (all inclusive)
As promised, here is a BETA version of my sound mod combining all previous work into one universal mod for CMx2 titles. There may also be a few small updates since my last release, but don't expect big changes if you have previously used my mod in CMSF or the WWII titles. There are specific modules for modern sounds so you can pull them out for the WWII titles, although any problematic overlaps should be minimal.

(edit: PM me for dropbox link.)

Hope it helps with enjoyment of Combat Mission: Black Sea! I am very proud to have participated in development of this title. Black Sea is one of BFC's best yet.

Nice overview, but I would use 2nd or 3rd squad for your point of comparison in the WWII formations. The first squad has a unique organization that is not handled the same way across titles.
