US Army Multicam Division Pack

Hi, sorry, I've been tied up the past couple of weekends. I'll see if I can dig it up this coming weekend. Thanks for your interest. -
Bundeswehr is looking increasingly threadbare
Sequoia replied to z1812's topic in Combat Mission - General Discussion
I can only add that late projects with huge cost overruns are not unique to Germany as evidenced by our Bullet Train project here in California. It has recently been scaled back thankfully, in my opinion, to something that may work. I am not an engineer but I never understood the practicality of building a bullet train route over a major mountain range. On the other hand in California we know how to build to withstand earthquakes as a major quake causes many fewer deaths than a smaller one does in Italy. Perhaps that's unfair as Italy has many more older buildings but it seems newer buildings are failing in earthquakes there as well. Sorry if this is getting way off topic. -
The Civil War is back on the menu, boys!

@MORD. Where did you get the "chocolate chip" camo skins? -

I guess I haven't looked at the Germans yet in CMSF 2 . They didn't have those patches in the original game. I am trying to identify what the Unit patch is. Anyone know? My understanding is the modern Heer uses "mission badges". If that's true this one may be fictional, yet I have strong doubts that's the case. -
I don't recognize the uniform and badge of the fellow shooting the M4.

It's likely it's just awaiting its turn to be uploaded in CMMODS IV.

Awesome. Is that your mod? -
When HE is gone, so is the WP?

I also seem to recall an elaboration on the explanation years ago that the round count wasn't the number of rounds the artillery battery had in hand but rather the amount of "tube time" allocated to your unit from a higher headquarters for the duration of your mission. -

Looks good to me! I was referring to this thread: -
Syrian Army Realism Mod 1.0
Sequoia replied to Sir Lancelot's topic in CM Shock Force 2 Maps and Mods
Does that mean the Syrian Special Forces are considered part of the Republican guard then? IIRC there was an entire Republican Guard division plus separate Special Forces units. -

Mark, not that you need more to do, but in an earlier thread some one asked for Woodland DPM shirts with Desert DPM pants, and provided some photos of troops dressed that way. Just thought I'd bring it up. Thanks for all your work. I'm working on putting patches on the stock game British uniforms myself right now. -

They look really good to me. Is the red stripe on the epaulette unique to Special Forces? Also do you or any one have a bigger picture of the badge on the shoulder? Finally what is the big circle on some of the helmets about? -
Parallel dimension where Elvis and Jim Morrison are still alive too. The bad thing is there are still a few posters that haven't been banned yet so I prefer to come here.

I was killed by an A-10 in a Reforger exercise many years ago.

Yeah the bottom 3 shots appear to be a desert pattern but one different then the stock uniforms. -

US Army Multicam Division Pack
Sequoia replied to IICptMillerII's topic in CM Shock Force 2 Maps and Mods
Alright, I will dig it up and post when I can. I have this pipedream of making a virtual boardgame Vassal module http://www.vassalengine.org/ which I have experience in using of the fictional war at brigade/battalion level . Once upon a time someone was going to run a online campaign of the war with various players in command of units on both sides and battles decided by using CMX1 but it became problematic and the project was dropped. I did obtain (with permission) a graphic file of the map that was to be used for the campaign that would be ideal for a Vassal module. -

There is a link of the second page of the Multicam 3rd infantry thread. The thread it links to has two orders of battle. The second one is more detailed. I also have what I think is a rather complete Syrian order of battle for 2008 on paper (before the civil war of course). I can post it if there is interest. -
Indulge me if you will. Likely every game series in existence has wish list threads and the Combat Mission series is no exception. Now none of us who are not part of the Battlefront paid staff know what the CMX1 Engine is capable of, but I wanted to list in this thread features that (as I recall) Steve has stated would be development time sinks versus the benefits they would provide. I am also going to make some conjectures on other such features, though I will admit my conjectures will be without me having any understanding of the Engine. Feel free of course to disagree and say why, and also add to the list. I'm also aware many of you already know all of this. Here goes: Lots more animations. Animations are I'm told expensive and time consuming to make them look right. Don't expect much more unless they would be absolutely required for a new feature. Especially don't expect hand to hand animations as it would be way out of Battlefront's budget to make them look anything but silly. Vast improvement in tactical AI. Coding game AI is truly a case of diminishing returns. Sure the AI will do stupid things on occasion but humans in combat (and everything else for that matter) do stupid things as well. P.S. We have seen (or will see) improvements to AI where necessary such as the troops in trenches breaking. My point is game AI improvements reach a point of diminishing returns. Medics and medical evacuation. Entirely new behavior to code, lots of new animations and distracting from the main purpose of the game. Also I believe in reality they are not directed by the battle commander as the commander has plenty else to do. Amphibious landings with landing craft. Yes we have amphibious vehicles already but going beyond that to add landing craft-infantry and landing craft-tanks plus the required fortifications, beach obstacles etc to allow for beach landing scenarios would take at lot of resources for what was a very small percentage of the combat that occurred. Even if they did it many people would not be satisfied unless ocean waves, men and vehicles in deep water, drownings, etc were added. Horses. Yes humanities most useful work animal did still play a large role in WWII in the Soviet, German (and probably Italian but that's a guess) armies, but they would be difficult to code as they would be something that was both transport and alive plus they would require a huge amount of new animations. The 3rd dimension. Sorry but I doubt we will ever see men dropping in parachutes or gliders or helicopters landing. In most cases these events did not happen under fire so like beach landings the amount of new coding for a small percentage of times it would happen would be better spent elsewhere. The next two are conjecture: Flares and night illumination rounds. We did not have this in CMX1 and not hint of it in CMX2. I'm thinking this may be difficult to code perhaps due to the behavior of the flare or round. IIRC the rounds hang from a parachute. It seems like a lot of physics to code. More engineering vehicles. We have mine-flail vehicles but I doubt we'll ever see more than that, such as tanks with bulldozer blades. Yes they were useful but how many times were they used under fire? Thanks for reading.

I'm no air general, but could make an argument that the USAF would only be able to support so many bases within operational range of the combat area and many more aircraft would be involved in air superiority missions than would be the case for CMSF after a few days. In such a situation the A-10 would likely be a low priority asset for the USAF to bring into the theatre. Go ahead shoot my argument down (no pun intended). One aircraft that would actually finally see operation use in this Black Sea war would be the F-22 I would think, though it likely would not be doing any ground attacks.

That's what Teresa May says too.
