  1. Programmers really get to do that? Damn, I shoulda been a computer programmer!!
  2. Athlon 3500 MSI NK6600GT 128M 512 RAMs 46, 48, 53, 49
  3. Using an 81mm spotter, firing blind, I missed my intended target (an infantry formation) by 200+ meters. A round dropped right in an open turret of a T34. Ruined my opponents day. But, I'd consider that a one in 1,000 chance.
  4. Canadian War Museum newspaper search I hadn't seen this one before
  5. It just a freakin game. Thats all it is. They both died more than 50 years ago. In your padded cell just keep saying: "Its only a game." "Its only a game." The real debate is: GWB or UBL. My bad. I forgot the political forum was closed months ago.
  6. I like this variable skill set for each unit applied to a different weapon type. Even a AT gun could be operated at less than green level. A squad comes across the last remaining 50Cal dude. "Hey Sarge, have a couple of your men help me carry this to the next set of trees and I'll provide some cover fire."
  7. Kinda makes 54 105mm shells allotted in a scenario seem miniscule.
  8. I just read the site and all my questions were answered!!! I even learned as a Topic starter I could change the title. [ March 10, 2005, 01:39 PM: Message edited by: General Colt ]
  9. Group 12. I have come back from the land of the extremely employed. Expect turns this evening!! However, comma, I'm still setting up my new system.
  10. My new Athlon 64 3500+ 939 socket 6600GT Video PCI Express 1 GB RAM will be here tomorrow. Should I expect any problems??
  11. I did have a dead tank hunter toss a bomb and take out a tank. Search on "Strangest thing happened in CMBB" about last DEC (screen shots with the game clock). But he was only dead for 3 or 4 seconds before he chucked the AT boomb. It was explained away as the game is just an "extrapolation" and "interpolation" of real life. No cheating or hacking involved.
  12. State your source! I concur that after 1941, the Russians became much better fighters - on par with the Germans. The same can be said about the Americans. They performed poorly at Kasserine. But by choking off the Germans supplies, they were able to win in North Africa. Later in the war, they were much better fighters. Again, on par with the Germans dispite having inferior tanks.
  13. No, the numbers I quoted didn't take it to account the nukes. My source was Numbers, Prediction, and War - T.N.Dupuy. Its a damn complex book. I need to take a refresher course in calculus just to get the drift of what he's saying. Here's another stat. In WWI, the US Army imported more fodder than munitions.
  14. Napolean reached Moscow in 83 days (13.6 KM per day). The Wermacht reach Moscow in 167 days (7.4 km/day) and they actually never got there. In WWII: Allies moblized 40.4 million troops Germany moblized 12.5 million troops Allies casualties 23 million (mostly Russian) Germans had 10.1 million casualties. Each German caused a average of 1.42 wounds one in four Allied soldiers caused a wound.
  15. Blind= poke in the eye with a sharp stick. Double blind = poke in boff eyes with two sharp sticks.
  16. I typically play: Double-blind 95% of the time. QB's 4% of the time. Unblind 1% of the time. If we agree to a battle that either has seen then the other person is given a few days to "review" the battle. REVIEW = play both sides until they are familiar with scenario.
  17. Interesting slides. They probably went along with a oral presentation which would have provided more details.
  18. Actually, if they solve the borg spotting problem it could stand for Combat Mission No-longer Gamey
  19. I vote for CM:NG Combat Mission the Next Generation.
  20. Group 12 update. Four battles well underway. NO response from REDWOLF. Come in REDWOLF, over. I've sent my setup twice. Nothing after the intial comm check received from Redwolf...
  21. I want my car with 5 wheels instead of the usual 4. Make that 6 if you count the spare in the trunk. All-right complete redesign: How about a massive online game where every one gets a company. All battles are operations of approx 15 minutes gametime each. Maybe 4 minutes of replay order time between movies. The operation is continuous. If real life interferred with the game, at the end of a battle you could put your coy in R&R until you returned. At the end of a battle, you are graded based on ground taken, kill/loss ratio. If you do poorly your are given green replacements to fill the ranks. Scoring well means regular or better replacements, and extra squad, a few support weapons, and maybe a tank added to your TO&E. Gaining these additional troops is kinda like the CC games adding troops after a victory. CC had a limit to the number of troops. Here you could just keep growing. To the divisional level. But if you ever achived that level in the four minutes of game play you'd never have time to control you man and would quickly get whittled back to size. Just dreaming...
  22. TB, Great post. Here's another reference source CMWiki - Artillery page. This wiki site is open to any contributers. [ February 11, 2005, 06:32 AM: Message edited by: General Colt ]
  23. Sergei, I think you need to get out in to the real world more often. I'm positive the Todd Rundgren song applies here: "We gotta get you a woman And when we’re through with you, We’ll get me one too." [ February 06, 2005, 02:31 PM: Message edited by: General Colt ]
