  1. Sburke you owe me a new keyboard and monitor, LOL P
  2. This should tell you all you need to know, http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=82035 Or you could read the manual P
  3. Well let's not get in a fight over how different ! Unless that's what you want You have different weapons, with their own specfic ranges and attributes at squad and team level. You then have different TOE at company and battalion levels. The impact of this is you have to play to each TOE's strengths. I'm pretty sure that Steve has said they do not model Nationality traits within the soft factors. That's up to the scenario designers. So British units are no better or worse in defence than US and German units, but they do have different weapons and organisation.
  4. In a nutshell - yes ! Don't also forget, the 17 pdr is mounted on Fireflies and M10s, you have the heavily armoured Churchills, and Cromwells as recce units. These all play differently from US units. And please don't think these are the only differences P

  6. Just to add in case you are not aware of this A good test is to create a scenario with just one unit. (FOOs are good for this) Select a group for the unit - we'll go with AI group 2. In the unit editor deploy the unit on map. In the AI editor then paint a dozen set up locations for the specific AI group (in this case 2), I would suggest each be of 2-4 action squares. These can be anywhere you want the unit to set up. Save and then "play the battle" several times over and you should see the unit set up in differing locations each time the mission is played. This gives a good level of random set up within the same AI plan. It does have it's limitations but for small forces it can be very powerful. HTH P
  7. The map set up zones have little impact on the AI setup as there main use is to establish the area in which the human player can deploy forces. Having said that, AI units will not be able to set up outside a map set up zone if placed in one in the deploy editor. Although this can be used to your advantage Use the set up order in the AI editor to establish AI set up positions. In plan one these can be in one place, in plan two another. Set different exit times for each plan, and you can have very different plans carried out. (It does make sense for these set up positions to be out of LOS of the enemy so the AI units can sit safely until time to move. So you can have a game where plan one is a left flank attack, and plan two is right flank, with different timings applied. Or you could always just play a QB ! P
  8. Well as at least four of them have posted in this thread, there's a good chance P
  9. Not CM related but check out my aviation art pabe on FB http://www.facebook.com/pages/Pete-Wenman-Aviation-Art/231924855065 P
  10. second page of map terrain types will bring up the height elevation section. The entire map will change to whatever height you first place, but once you start adding differing heights either as spots or contour lines you will begin to see elevation changes. P
  11. You need to deploy each side in the editor - this is an option within the units section of the editor. And to pre-empt your likely next question the AI side will not move, unless you have given them an AI plan. P
  12. Trailape - I was T/A as well and can remember the transition from SLR to SA80. I also remember going through the FIBUA complex at Copehill Down for two weeks just after we converted, and we went fully auto from the start. Blanks in the village obviously, but live on the ranges. It was great fun And yes the SA80 sling was a nightmare, and I laugh out loud at remembering a couple of the lads going hand free, then watching in horror as the rifle crashed to the floor. P
  13. yep, that or the other way around. For a one tile wide railway line you will need to set the heights across three tiles 20,22,20 20,22,20 20,22,20 etc Heights are in metres, so each increase is 1 metre P
  14. To increase the height of one tile only you will need to surround it by tiles set to the lower level you desire. The system does not work as point heights, rather it averages the height between points. This makes creating slopes easy, but does cause the issue you have encountered. HTH P
  15. UCG I think its fair to say that nothing added to the Market Garden module will break maps previously made in CMBN. You'll get Luftwaffe Field Units in the Commonwealth module, but will otherwise have to wait for Market Garden for the FJ. So there is no point waiting to make a Carentan map, you might as well go for it now ;-) I'm somewhat surprised no one has already done so. Plenty of guys here can offer help on the editor side of things if you need it, and I can say that some, if not all, of the maps that will be shipping with the Commonwealth module will knock you guys out. P
  16. Several kilometers from the LZ Major Pyle was scratching his freshly shaved chin and was wondering how the hell Pte Gumb, had managed to spend his leave in Paris, two weeks before D-Day !!!. It suddenly dawned on him "Gumbs a goddamm Nazi! " he spluttered......"
  17. Said Cole, more worried than ever about Gaylord...
  18. I'm just not sure Taki is taking this seriously enough "However Cole was worried at the way Pte James Gaylord kept looking at him and playing with his rosary beads......." P
  19. Gerry hi My bad, I forgot to reply The only special tool is Photoshop I'm afraid. It's a composite of screen shots from the editor stitched together. The clever bit, if you can call it that, is that before taking the screen shots go into the elevation section of the map editor, and the screen shots will show the fixed elevations as black dots. These were then the guide I use for painting the contour lines. If you do this using layers in PS you can add locations, annotations etc. My copy has lots of info on, but if I showed all the details it would spoil the surprise ! P
  20. Great looking map, my only concern is that the large areas of forest, are only "light" and hence passable to armor. Was this the intention ? If so, fine, if not it might be worth amending P
