  1. I've never made a campaign so cannot be sure, (I'm not as brave or foolhardy as you ) however in starting to play a campaign 1. You start with a campaign briefing, in the standard layout. 2. When pressing next you then move to a battle briefing 3. When moving onto the next battle a fresh briefing appears. I have always assumed a campaign is several battles linked together, so each battle gets it's own breifing etc, but the whole thing is held inside the camapign, which allows for the campaign overview and coreunits. HTH P
  2. Well if you've got that many units it's going to be tedious which ever way you cut it. One trick I have used is 1. select a bttn, so it shows in the righthand window of the unit editor. 2. Deselect all but one company 3. go into 3d screen and deploy the selected company. 4 go back into the editor select another company and rinse and repeat. This makes it easier to find units/platoons etc as you never have more than a co's worth to deloy at any one time. P

  4. Cheers BS, that got it working, and I've made my first map - yeah ! Now I just need to work out how to make something larger than 400 x 400 P
  5. OK, next question How do I find out the X,Y co-ords of my CMBN start icon on the toolbar (I also run Win7 and have the icon pinned at the bottom of the screen) P
  6. OK - I've got things working, the csv file is just a blank notepad doc. It might be worth stating that explicitly for dumbies like me. Off to build a map P
  7. Yes I saving the settings.js as is in the js folder, and then I'm saving the same file into the campaign folder with the csv extension as per this instruction I know I'm doing something wrong, but don't have a clue what P
  8. This looks great, but I'm struggling to get it working. I've created a 400m x 400m square image from GE and saved it as 1-1.jpg. I've loaded the js settings file as follows var bgMap_location = "im/maps/1-1.jpg"; var xCountStart=1; var yCountStart=1; var tilewidth=33; var tileheight=50; var tilesize=30; As then saved this file with the csv extension in the campaign folder. However when I open Groundmaker the image does not show, but I get this As you can see a get a small image icon in the top left square of the grid, but nothing else. I'm sure this is user error, but I can't get it working beyond this thanks P
  9. Everything can die in the game, so it's a matter of pay off. I find ATG's can be very useful, and a real pain to deal with. Sure they are likely to die at some stage but they can also slow down or break an attack. As for positioning - as Yankee Dog mentions fighting crest is good, some maps have usefully placed 1 action square depressions, a lite gun pit behind walls/bocage keyholes 750m+ range if more than ATG in play ensure they have interlocking fields of fire. have an anti armour plan that uses all AT assets cover arcs to hold fire if necessary plenty of things can be done with ATG's my 2p P
  10. I've not used it myself but I think this is what you are after http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=99092 P
  11. 2k x 2.8k, so still not really pushing the 4x4k possible ! P
  12. You can even set/build the AI plans, but you obviously can't allocate any CW troops to them until you get CW. P
  13. As far as I'm aware "Scenario Author Test" lets you see all units, without any FOW applied. It does not however change the AI in anyway and so both your units and the AI can only see each other when LOS exists and the program decides they are spotted. It is a must for testing scenarios in the early stages. There is no way to retain damage created in one battle to be carried over to a later battle. So even if the same map is used over and over it will always appear as created. You can of course can add damage in the editor, and use the altered map, however you can only best guess as to what damage to apply. Rename the damaged map and feed it into the campaign. This will at least allow increasing levels of damage to be reflected albeit will not match that actually created in battle I can't help with core units as I've not played with the campaign editor yet. P
  14. Well I've just done that, and I don't see any trenches or foxholes. I've tested on Elite, WEGO and Veteran, RT P
  15. First Clash, was my first thought as well. It would make a cracking campaign. P
  16. Yes, but it's scenario specific as you have to place it as a unit. Pick you vehicle type, set it as burning then deploy it. HTH P
  17. Not sure how well this will work, but here is a contour map I've spun the image so I can show it here larger than otherwise P
  18. Peachy hi and thanks for your input, but I'm going to call you wrong I also have the 1:25000 map of the area (sheet 37/16SE), however Google Earth and the French Cartes IGN have a very different set of elevation data. I am confident that these are correct given the modern methods used, and that the basic underlying terrain will not have changed much from the war, hence in my opionion the British Army maps are wrong. I did consider just shaping the contours as per these maps, but in the end I decided to go with the actual terrain and throw an additional problem at the attentive player, in so much that the terrain and battle maps do not match. So I stand by my contention this map is an accurate representation of the area and actual elevations, but do agree with you that it differs from the maps the British used. P
  19. Guys just to add the above This map is the uncut master map for the "Into the Shadow of the Hill" series of scenarios. It measures 1.6k x 4k, covering the area Fontaine Etoupefour, Eterville, Maltot. This uncut map is not included in the CW module and so is available in the repository for anybody that wishes to use it P
  20. USG' AI plans is a black art to me aswell and I make scenarios ! Best to understand what does and doesn't work is to look in the editor at what you consider the very best scenarios. The other main learning tool is to experiment. Set up what you want to achieve (ie a armoured platoon move, dismount and then attack a location) on a small map, with no enemy and then save it and sit and watch it as a battle. I find RT, scenario author mode, is best, but remember you need to be on the opposition side for the AI to work. I suspect that no one really fully understands the AI although PaperTiger and George Mc come to mind as a couple that come close. P
