Redwolf got a reaction from Bufo in For you AMD graphics users: another OpenGL translation layer that might fix the AMD issues with OpenGL
I recently reported on games plugging in the Mesa driver that translates OpenGL to Vulkan, "for situations where the drivers don't have good OpenGL support". Sounds familiar to you AMD users?

There now is a second alternative, by Microsoft themselves - an OpenGL to Direct3D translation layer. So you only rely on AMD to get Direct3D (DirectX12) right and you don't use any of their broken OpenGL nonsense.

Getting this plugged in without Charles will be an effort, but far from impossible. Of course if BFC were to pick this up it would be a big win.

Why are some people focusing on what Steve does in the Ukraine thread? Surely nobody expects him to work on the game 24/7.

Believe it or not, I've had some luck with a "fix" on the drivers released early December!  Have it working on CMRT, CMBS, and CMFI... having said this, these are NOT larger battles.  Nevertheless, finally some progress from AMD! per post here.

No, fixing the drivers myself is not "fun." And how many of us really run Linux for  F- sake???
Here is my fed-up response today to AMD after another loyal CM purchaser can't get their AMD 7000 card to work... Broken drivers... apparently broken companies....
The unresolvable remains unresolvable with continued excuse-making that it is "fixed" in an internal build with an actual released driver that repairs CTDs and "white flashes" essentially vaporware.  Shame on AMD and Battlefront for allowing this MULTI-YEAR issue to continue to exist.  AMD 7000 users are out of luck as they can't roll-back drivers effectively, and BF continues to sell these products at full price on Steam with no warning the game is essentially broken with updated drivers.   Frankly horrific customer services from both companies.  Too bad this wasn't Call of Duty-- would've been fixed near immediately....
Here is a link to some more history for those that wish to keep up with this miserable issue "resolution."

No, it really is the OS in full control of all those power saving features for the hardware.
Some minimal set is controlled by the BIOS, but that applies mostly to laptops.

Redwolf reacted to Butschi in Automatically generating CMBS maps from OpenStreetMap with CMAutoEditor
For those of you who don't visit the general CM2 scenario and mod section regularly: CMAutoEditor now has a CMBS profile, enabling or improving using the OSM part with CMBS. CMAutoEditor is a tool that for generating maps from elevation data and OpenStreetMap and automatically "importing" them into CM (via automatizing clicking 😉).
As an example @TheFriendlyFelon kindly allowed me to show the preview of near Robotyne, Ukraine for his upcoming campaign.

You can find more examples as well as support in the general CMAutoEditor thread.

When I use CMx2 in Parallels in Windows under MacOS I find it is satisfactory for answering PBEM++ moves. For all other uses including regular PBEM you can run natively of course.
But I don't use an Apple Silicon CPU for Parallels, I have it on a 2019 i9 with 5500 AMD mobility graphic chip (which works flawlessly using the Apple driver, unlike the Windows driver). You can pick up these machines cheap if you want macOS and CMx2.

Redwolf got a reaction from MHW in Question about ownership rights of user-made scenarios.
The wording could use some improvement. Technically speaking putting up a scenario on a website and telling people to do whatever they want with it is licensing. Same for open source software, it comes with very specific licenses of different sorts. It is just not for-cost licensing.

Hamas leaders may have thought that there was no strategic alternative. Saudi Arabia was on the verge of normalizing relations with Israel. The other Arab leaders might make noise about the plight of the Palestinian people, but they have no interest in becoming involved. The Oct. 7 attack puts Palestine back in the foreground.

Be careful what you wish for. The result may be annoying limitations imposed on the editor. I have seen that happen before with another game.
As for the performance topic in general. I would need in-game debugging information: frame-rate, mode of frame-rate compensation, scene polygon count, logic cycles count. But unfortunately there is no such thing, so it is often just anecdotal.
