  1. I remember these scenarios The best way I found was to wait for Ze Germans to appear. But seriously, if you group those Brixia's together you have rather a lot of ammunition at your disposal. Them along with the HMG's in support and you pack nasty little punch.
  2. That's all highly speculative of course. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see two games or modules overlapping in production, hence decreasing that schedule somewhat.
  3. How far away were the infantry when you asked the JP to engage? Isn't the JP classed as a tank destroyer? It's not an infantry tank per se. I'm guessing the infantry were a reasonable distance, in which case the crew would always prefer to use the HE rather than MG rounds.
  4. My god Fuser that is fabulous. I've been trawling through you mods and the latest ones are better still. I don't know how you manage it.
  5. There's a whole load of reasons why it is a great simulation but the biggest reason out of all of them is the fact that BFC listen to us guys and constantly keep the game updated, with new features and fixes. For that reason alone they will get my money.
  6. That's a good point - and I'm guessing that houses with wooden/timber appearances may offer less protection than heavier brick or concrete structures.
  7. I think it has been changed slightly post patch. Smaller squads are now much better protected. But only smaller or split squads - if you stick a full squad on a single floor you're still in trouble
  8. GAJ has them but they are only version C - he has released a version E which I have but I've no idea where it is now.
  9. Well spotted Holien - I haven't noticed that to be honest but things like buildings that were standing in one battle and not in the next is a bit weird. You could put this down to abstraction I suppose but it does lose a bit of fluidity as a result. I've got one weird oddity in Mission 6 so far. I have been careful to keep hold of my Bren carriers because they are valuable assets in these early missions. But the one carrier I have here I cannot man. It permanently says 'dismounted' no matter if I take a driver from a jeep, or a scout crew. Obviously it has lost the crew in a prior mission, but it seems a waste if I can't use it.
  10. I acutally asked this some time back and was told it was never likely to happen either. I find the micro management involved can be overly time consuming when you have lots of little beaten up units. Plus it looks damn messy and disorganised. But more important is Womble's point.
  11. Yes, this was essential in my plan too. But I have found (although I cannot prove either way) that if you plonk a group of men on the top floor and receive hits during an artillery barrage they will likely suffer more casualties. The HE seems to detonate on the top floor first if it hits the building directly, rather than penetrating down to the lower levels. That's certainly how it looks anyway. I tend to split my squads if I house them in buildings, and also have them hide - this may or may not offer them even more protection. Most on the lower floors tend to survive an arty barrage even if the buildings are hit directly. Actually I think this was more of an issue in Shock Force if I recall.
  12. Considering you were up against Panthers that is an incredible result. I scored the same in my first run but I was up against a decent number of MKIV's instead which just isn't the same. The Germans took one VL off me as well but I soon exacted my revenge with some very accurate heavy artillery.
  13. As long as you don't order the team to fire at targets it seems to help. I've just been using one myself - he inflictedd 3 casualties by the end of the mission. One of them was a tank commander too which was a tasty distance shot, but more importantly the second member didn't fire. Probably because of the distances involved. I also tend to have this problem with 2" mortar teams. If the target is say 200m away the other men in the team seem to prefer to suppress with their small arms. Only after a few shots will the mortar actually fire. I'm not sure if this is intended or not. Again though if you let the team manage itself they are actually much more efficient.
  14. Nice setup Holien! That has given me some ideas for when I get there. I'm currently slogging my way through Mission 4 again.. Oh, and a ps. I do NOT want to face Panthers. MKIV's are fine.
  15. I tend to agree - I think CMx is best suited to WWII but that's only because it is my favourite theatre. Shock Force was very good too, especially the Nato module. I recall BFC stating that they have no interest whatsoever in a Pacific theatre of operation. I can't remember exactly why though.
  16. That's a mighty fine list of equipment there Mord, even if it somewhat optimistic I can't imagine flame vehicles of any type will make an appearance The Germans still have 6 AT guns to show? What an earth were they? Considering we've got the 50mm, the 75mm and the 88 already in. I can't imagine there were many 37mm AT guns kicking around by Normandy but I could be very much mistaken. I'd love to see the Croc one day. Aren't some of those German vehicles in particular already represented in game by off-map artillery assets?
  17. What do you think the final module will contain though? Won't almost everything be covered in the 3 modules?
  18. hehe yeah I noticed that too! Bit of a bugger. Hence the restart. I have to say, I'm enjoying the replay much more than I thought I would. The AI is behaving differently
  19. Now that's a really good idea. I presume you have to have the driver in the jeep in order to use the radio. So jeep in close proximity to the mortar squads which will enable HQ units to call in mortar rounds from a distance?
  20. They do die quickly you're not wrong. Best used for recon. That 30 cal can come in very handy actually - I once managed to destroy an entire squad using one so they can be used effectively if you're careful. They are very fast and can get themselves out of trouble as quickly as they find it. Remember if you park one behind some bocage, the hedgerows will actually provide the cover, and being extremely mobile can come in handy. You don't need to dismount to use the gun, the assistant will fire the gun automatically. Just make sure you've always got at least 2 guys in the jeep. One will drive and one will fire. If you have a small team in there too you can use these guys as dismountable recon teams and they will also fire at targets inside the jeep.
