And something re the info wars side of things - VK is apparently the number one russian social media app and one of the only ones still operating.  Comments suggest it was the admin account rather than a platform wide hack that was being used to distribute the message. 
 

Most of people which is enlisting now are so-called Operative Reserve 1  - those, who fought in Donbas and retired. We have more than 100 000 of OR1. Also there is limited enlistment of Operative Reserve 2 - people, who served in Army but w/o combat experience or gained military speciality in univercities. Also volunteers. 
Also about 320 000 Ukrainains turned back to Ukraine from EU and more than 2/3 are a men. There is now big queues in enlistment offices and many people got answer "we have your phone and we will call when this will be need". So, as I understand, first-wave mobilization already mostly completed and units is conducting trainings and combat coordination. There is a problem, how to move them to east and avoid strikes.

This sort of thing must be good for morale and motivation.  Something I really doubt the RF forces will ever see.  Another little factor favouring UKR in the equation.

Great news! The bomb shelter under Drama Theater in Mariupol survived the hit of 500 kg bomb. Now the rubbles removing have started to reach the entrance of shelter. There is still unknow about possible casualties among people which were inside the buiding and out of shelter. 

Gets more interesting towards the end.  Would appear UKR morale is pretty good.

I'm with Kraze - thinking Russia is a spent force and won't try this again in another 5 / 10 / 15 / 20  years seems to be the kind of thinking that got us into this mess in the first place - "The Soviet Union is Finished !  We can all celebrate victory and start worrying about something else"  . Clearly that was a mistake .

Yes, the de-nazification of Germany could only happen because 1) Germany was utterly defeated all the way to Berlin, and 2) Germany was occupied by troops that literally could force locals out to take a look at the camps.
Neither of these things are set to happen in the current war.
I'm worried that this war might end more like WW1.. an economically devastated and empoverished nation free to brew up new "stab in the back" legends and elect even worse leaders than before.

Ukraine can always say what they need to say to get Russians out of Ukraine then be as truthful as Putin in the follow-thru.  Say they won't join NATO, get Russia out, stop the killing, then join NATO.  Russia falls into a great depression, not capable of any further offensive action, NATO secures Ukraine as Putin gets overthrown.  Maybe just wishful thinking, but at this point, if Ukraine breaks long term promises to Russia whilst gaining peace, I don't think the world would consider that treachery. More like justice.

As to official, I recall seeing a tweet re an announcement from the UKR gov that it had lost 1600 servicemen/women.  I subsequently read a news site report that it was 1300.  That was yesterday I think.

There is so many Canadian volunteers over there, they have their own brigade.  Reportedly in the Kyiv area.  Here is their arm patch.  Five Hundred and Fifty in number so far and growing daily.

I am, yes. PhD in NE. Worked during my career on nuclear weapons (Army artillery experience - 82d didn't have any but nuclear weapons was my secondary specialty after artillery), nuclear reactor startup testing, radiation protection, and nuclear non-proliferation R&D.
As Steve pointed out at one point - just because I jumped out of airplanes, it appears I'm not completely an idiot (or something to that effect 🙂  )
