A little BTR-70 and BMP-2 love.

gunnersman got a reaction from JSj in How to overcome Tunguskas?
Really? Specifically target individual weapons stations? How did they do that from 4 miles away...or even less? On a moving target. I would hope it would enough just to get one bullet to hit anywhere on the airframe.

gunnersman reacted to MikeyD in 330 QB maps!
For those who haven't noticed, the CMBS QB map folder is full to overflowing. 330 maps, and some pretty spectacular looking maps too. Complete with multiple AI orders, triggers, the whole nine yards. All hail MarkEzra for his work assembling those. I just got done playing a QB on a huge map involving a dam on a river, an overpass highway, a huge railroad bridge and a rock quarry. Great fun to play.

gunnersman reacted to Sergei in One T-90 just blitzed my entire stryker platoon.....
Seriously though, Chris thought he could ambush a T-90 with a Stryker MGS in one of his streams. It... didn't work out well.
Skip to 1h13m for the turn:

gunnersman got a reaction from SlowMotion in Could this be the best yet?
Im enjoying it. It is definitely a HUGE improvement over Strike Force, IMHO. It is what SF should have been. Mortars appear quickly! Dont stay in one spot too long! Or dont be seen.

gunnersman reacted to sburke in down load speeds 100kb/s
so here is the deal - and I am not quoting to not single anyone out, this is just a general perspective
1. BF has told pre orders that they are getting early access and they should not announce it as it simply causes a flood on the servers (this goes back a long way before their current service)
2. The forum goes nuts with F5 monkeys refreshing as if having the game today versus tomorrow is somehow going to fundamentally change our lives
3. BF has a cloud service that takes time for the installer to be distributed to the cloud servic e to make the cloud actually function as intended.
4. The pre orders that get the email immediately announce they are downloading
5 the non pre orders start complaining about how their lives are being ruined and they should have the game now!!!
6. Chris announces fine, they are opening it up
7. Everyone starts downloading and as was probably predictable it causes issues.
8 It is BFs fault for announcing late
9. It is BF's fault for announcing early
C'mon guys, lighten up and chill a little bit. The game is released, you'll be playing it soon enough and yeah you are damn funny to listen to.

Sorry but does anyone else appreciate the humor of "give it to us now! give it to us now!" followed by "Oh damn this download speed sucks"
Are we there yet?

gunnersman reacted to MikeyD in Is it best to leave a "TC" with the BMP2?
I was just play a scenario yesterday, I forgot which one, where Russians were rolling in the direction of my Ukrainian bmps. I hastily grabbed the nearest unit, split them and sent a team into the BMP so they'd have some commander 'eyeballs' to scout for targets. I unbuttoned them too so the commander would be heads-up. A very dangerous move considering the number of snipers but BMP-2 is previous-generation and doesn't have the best situational awareness in the best of times.

gunnersman reacted to panzersaurkrautwerfer in Is it best to leave a "TC" with the BMP2?
It's like the Stryker. The senior dude on the vehicle is the squad leader, he goes with the dismounts. The gunner takes over the vehicle, but from my understanding of Russian doctrine, the BMP is supposed to operate similar to a large armored heavy weapons team in relation to the squad, so the squad leader is still "vehicle commander" he's just doing it from out and about.

You have the honor of being my very first casualty, you were blown away by an ags-17 in the mission "An August morning". Unfortunately you didn't have the cruel irony of dieing as a unhatched tank commander.
Great game BFC I am loving it and ive only been playing for 20 minutes!

gunnersman reacted to akd in AKD - Sound Mod at Launch?
Hi Chad,
I do have a combined version of my CMSF mod and more recent WWII title mod that I have been using. I'm not 100% happy with some of the overlaps, but I will probably release it as a beta when the game launches.

Couple of more views to kill the wait:
Some more props added to the horizons, as suggested before I looked at the TV and radio antennas, and came up with something not too big, made it red and White to add some colors.
Then, a concrete water tower and a shiny steel grain silos complex, some other of those modern features I was looking for.

Found this beauty today: http://fr-fr.topographic-map.com/places/Ukraine-551299/
Very handy interactive topographic map to get those pesky cryptic contour lines right!
This one is also quite nice: http://www.maps-for-free.com/
And for those wondering what the weather could be like in Ukraine (I know I did today!): https://weatherspark.com/averages/33809/12/Kiev-Kiev-City-Ukraine
looks like there's some real nice chances for daring armored counter attacks during thunderstorms in June and July!
Cheers!
