MikeyD
Will the QB generator have the ability to pull from user created maps to add more variety. You can do that now, if I understood you correctly. Throw any current CMSF Blue Attack scenario into CMSF QB maps and you'll be able to use it for Blue attack QBs. Of course the AI orders will be entirely inappropriate for QB fighting against the AI. The game would either have to be played head-to-head or the AI order sets massaged before dropping into the folders. But any map you got can potentially be a QB map.

MeatEtr
Well perhaps is because we’ve been asked to test them so that when you get them they work? It was a rhetorical question gibby, but thanks for pointing out the painfully obvious anyway.

Zonks54
Well they aren’t. So I guess the rest of the request falls away from there, doesn’t it. You can cross me off your preview attendence, I have interest in going around to your house, your an arsehole.

Thomm
Out of three QBs just played, I lost two. Just sayin'. Best regards, Thomm
MikeyD
After reading through this thread I went and took a brief spin in the QB generator. Between map selecting/viewing options, the formation/specialist team/vehicle cherry picker, and even the handy 'suggestions' button it is a joy to operate now. Everything you could hope for. This from someone who was never much of a fan of QBs. If Steve's electing to not advertise it currently that could mean the final product's expected to be even better than what they got running now!
dan/california
I have a strong impression that after the widely viewed AAR they are saving their powder for a big push after the previews. I hope that means it won't be a long time after the previews until they open pre-orders . But that is just me daydreaming......
imij0607
yea some of the random maps sucked that's true, but you could always re-roll a map. ok well i'm going to assume since the core battlefront community has been wwii based that there will be a gaggle of maps and mods...or maybe not...we'll see =).
gibsonm
I share your hope but I suspect we maybe disappointed as creating a CM:BN (or any CMx2 map) is a far more time consuming activity than a CMx1 map. As a result I suspect the number of community based maps will be lower than for the CMx1 products. Hopefully I'm wrong though.
MeatEtr
Between map selecting/viewing options, the formation/specialist team/vehicle cherry picker, and even the handy 'suggestions' button it is a joy to operate now. What do you mean by "map selecting/viewing options"? Is there some kind of map viewer available to the player for better force selection based on terrain features? Or is it just in regards to different views of the interface? Also somewhat of a mini-bone there, didn't know there was a "recommended" or "suggested" button for unit selection. Kool!
imij0607
@gibsonm we'll see...the battlefront community has always been really active. i think due to the fact that the core gamer was a wwii gamer, that there will be some renewed interest in maps / modding. i'm anxious to see what / if there will be a CMSFx2 that uses points. i think if it used points it would be much easier to balance things out between sides. something else that would be interesting is a third group that comes in and is controlled by the AI.
gibsonm
re the Maps, again I hope you are right but I suspect that once people actually try to build their own map and find that it takes days / weeks to do a small map compared to the maybe hours to do a large CMx1 map due to the intricacies involved, the enthusiasm may ease off. Re points, sorry but I've always been in the "Buy units, don't cherry pick" camp but that's just me.
MikeyD
What do you mean by "map selecting/viewing options"? Two ways to check maps at QB startup. If you 'human' select your map you'll get a list of QB maps to chose from. This shows the usual scenario 'opening shot' image which a conscientious map maker would use to include a preview pict of the terrain. In the unit purchase screen you can elect to 3-D preview your map. This helps make sure you're not buying all armor for a tractless forest map or foot infantry for an objective 2km downrange across open ground.

Between map selecting/viewing options, the formation/specialist team/vehicle cherry picker, and even the handy 'suggestions' button it is a joy to operate now. Everything you could hope for. Will it be possible for both players to see which settings were used to generate the QB? Like in CMx1...

Can the map be randomly chosen as well? Also +1 to Slowmotions question. Will all the settings chosen be viewable by the player that did not setup the QB? Like timeframe, weather, attack/defend/probe/ME, etc. I'm sure the map previewer will be available to both players. Damn it, wish Steve would let one of you guys make a video of the QB process.

Re points, sorry but I've always been in the "Buy units, don't cherry pick" camp but that's just me. Basing this totally on cmsf of course I'd say you are right ... but methinks there may be a hidden advantage in this.... cmx1s maps were easy to make and I have downloaded soo many of which were pretty cack. Sounds a bit harsh but, well, they are! It takes quite a good map designer to break the mould as such and create something interesting, and perhaps the complexity of the sheer attack of options on the cmsf/bn will filter out the 'quick map' designers and leave the dedicated types like papertiger for example. Dont get me wrong, I dont mean to slag off the entire cmx1 map making community in one swoop, especially coming from someone who is turd at map making, but I do think the cmx1 community was flooded with 'average' quality maps which made it harder to find the little gems that you occasionally get. anyways ramble on.....

That's why I think is important that the maps, once created, should be compatible to the future releases, for ex being able to use CMBN maps with CM Bulge. It would be a pity for such hard worked maps to be lost when a new game arrived.
