  1. just stopped in to see if there was any new info on the expansions for CMBN - glad to see the new expansion is right around the corner. stopped playing for a while as the quick battles were becoming very predictable and dry - not much of a campaign player unless i can build them myself -- so just wanted to say keep up the great work gang! looking forward to dropping some cash on the new expansion when it's released and playing with some new toys =) cheers ~
  2. Well by my birth cert I'll be 37 this christmas; but, truthfully it's the burbon, a healthy taste for trouble, a nagging addiction to strip bars, a need to play guitar at least four times a week, latest calendar girls, and CM that keep me looking my youngest... ~Cheers!~
  3. I play on iron level difficulty and win against the AI quite a bit. range varies from minor to major victory. maybe i find the loop holes? 105mm howizters are great on an attack against armor - mu hu hahaha top shot a tiger is quite fun =). for me the game is great - playing a lot of blood bowl at the moment, and can't wait for further expansions into CMx2.... cheers~
  4. Hmmm - will that change with future releases for CMA?
  5. *sigh* okay =) So can you give me an example for like a small game???
  6. Ahh very cool - thanks stoex - this will be very cool. my brother is moving to the other side of the state so visits will be tough - CMBN is more than just a game, it's a way of keeping in touch sometimes =). cheers!
  7. Just wondering if you can cherry pick forces in QB like you can in CMBN for CMA?
  8. I'm considering purchasing CMBN for a friend of mine as an early bday present...seeing as how were both strategy game buffs, figured it would be a cool give since he upgraded his system. Question: if I start a quick battle, and then save the file after deployment can I email him that file so we could almost do a co-op game against the AI by passing the file back and forth?
  9. I'm just geeked this game still is one of my favs of all time next to steel panthers. Kudos to the BF team ~ you guys rock =).
  10. ok - i'll get winrar and see how that works out =). thanks ~
  11. some files at repository come down as .rar files. what do i do with these file becuase CMBN seems to not see these files when i put them in the Z folder...?
  12. so i'm going to assume then a regular airborne squad and a regular infantry squad will basically perform the same in game terms?
  13. I started a thread about airborne being better than regular infantry. The result was that airborne infantry were basically of the same quality. I was under the impression that airborne/ranger/sas etc. were better shots, more endurance etc. Was this not true in WWII?
  14. Good to know all these things =). Thanks for the info. I didn't realize that drop the bar and add in a bit bigger LMG was a strong difference between AB and Regular infantry batallions...
  15. Well, I've reverted to picking the items for the AI opponent and woa what a difference. I suck against myself lol.
  16. I know in June that you can take airborne infantry vs. regular infantry. Are they better overall, or just different TO&E? In my games I've noticed that the regular infantry veteran units are just as good as airborne infantry veterans...
  17. Hey, Is this why when I set the AI to mixed it's not so mixed??
  18. Seems like the AI doesn't really mix things up when I set the AI opponent to "Mixed". Typically what I end up fighting is a tank platoon with an observer and a machine gun, or most of an infantry batallion with an attached tank or two. Is this how it's supposed to be?
  19. Is there a good website to find pbem players? I'm a full time student, and have full custody of my kids so my hands are full; but, it would be cool to get this going again -- I did enjoy the handful of games I played in CMx1...learned a ton too. Cheers!
  20. I think lines like in the old CM for C2 would be really cool -- More flavorful AI - example: patrols for AI on the defense -- seems very static -- Random campaign generator -- creates a campaign file from drop down selections made by the user. I looked at the campaign text file example - seems like there might be a few shortcuts to creating something like this (i.e. setting up reinforcement points, repair points etc. from drop down) dedicated game lobby for people to chat it up, talk smack, play in real time or meet people for pbem games -- pbem game tracker application built into original application -- the ability for CMBN to do my luandry, pick my kids up from school, and walk the dog =)
  21. Personally I'd like to see more random events like patrols for defending AI and what not. Seems very static. On larger maps, when the AI hasn't even spotted you would they know your coming? Would they really just sit there?
  22. Interesting enough thread - there is deffinitely room for improvement on commands. maybe there could be an alternate menu that sets up certain behaviors like the infantry shooting at tanks - maybe you could turn this off. i know in one of the other BF games, and I can't remember which one off hand (it's late), but you could set engagement ranges and behaviors when certain situations were encountered. As it stands CMBN is really cool - i love the cherry picking and hope to see this in CMSF at some point. As far as the way tanks behave without any altering to the code, maybe plotting multiple short paths with pause commands might help mitage this>?
