How Hot is Ukraine Gonna Get?

Some more speculation on the bridge attack:

  • The truck was detonated remotely - probably not a coincidence that it was a white truck, as it's more visible especially at low light.

  • The driver did not know what was in the truck - notice the truck was driving in the outer lane when it went off. If the driver had been a suicide bomber, he would likely have chosen the innermost lane to bring the explosion closer to the centre of both road bridges, for a better chance the they'd both get destroyed.

  • Despite being seen as a big win for Ukraine, the attack was not a full success. They were hoping both road bridges would be taken out.

  • The train might have been a random target of opportunity. Originally, the bomb might have been intended to go off on the elevated part of the bridge to make it more difficult to repair the damage. But then on the eve of the attack, they noticed a train had stopped there for some reason, and they decided to explode the truck next to the train instead, probably hoping that it carried ammunition that could have been detonated.

There's one more, unlikely but not impossible, explanation: that is was a freak accident.

That the truck blew up through a technical issue or carelessness.

Probably not, but if it was an accident, it would be a blast.

This tickled me.

In particular- "In the books everything is written, you just need to know it and be able to apply it."
There's a website floating around listing VDV manuals (http://russianairbornetroops.info/) and while I can't read Russian, judging from the pictures, knowing and applying what's in the books might not help:

Which is just... wow. Advance down a street with dismounted infantry sandwiched between two BMDs? No thank you.
Then there are elements in these manuals that seem fairly sensible, but are somewhat sabotaged by the er, quality of the art:

This is all from the manual with the CMx1 screenshots in, for extra bonus points.
Of course, there's a chance it's not legit, but still the mind continues to boggle.

Unknown top attack drone once again in action:

DNA-modified pigeon from secret US biolab in Ukraine. Their poo after contact with air turn out to HE substance with around-nuclear TNT equivalent. Several grams of this HE **** can reliase so much energy, like Excalibur warhead )

Russian Lantset-2 loitering munition hits two UKR S-300 simultainously near Novostepnians'ke village, 2 km SE from Zaporizhzhia. Damn. To lose two launchers from nothing, because two launchers stood side by side. At the beging of video MANPAD launch is seen, likely at Lantset, but missed.

This s..t in RUS and UKR armies is called "proyob". And battery commander have to be ready that higher commander will be "yebat' " him from this "proyob".

Dang, that either sounds like a headline from  @danfrodo 's 'Perilous Liberal Site' or something concocted by the Okhrana (evidently their Learned Elders of Zion had this fetish for derailing trains).

Hey LLF, Note that dailykos is a community forum and has lots of nonsense mixed in w stuff that makes sense, so don't think I agree w everything there.  The UKR war summaries have been excellent.

Your post today about Bakhmut was most excellent, THANKS!   I suppose if UKR chose to, it could bring the resources to end this RU attack, but I am guessing it is choosing to use those resources elsewhere.  And RU seems to be doing a good job of shaping that front for UKR counterattack all on their own.

I realize there is a large bias towards things that produce videos easily, but these seem like the most dangerous thing in the Russian army? Will those drone jammers in the last Ramstein care package help?

@sburke

Major (retired, mobilized) Vadim Sedov. Current unit, rank and duty unknown. He was killed Oct 5.

On the photo he has maroon beret - this is unofficial color for the best servicemen of Rosgvardiya/OMON. Serviceman, who wants to get maroon beret must pass very tough physical and combat test - one of more violent is a full-contact sparring with two maroon berets simultainously. Candidate must either win or at least not be knoked out for some limited time. Because this is internal subculture, which has roots from Soviet times and all theese tests unofficial, there are enough accidents, when candidates for maroon color turned out in hospital or even died. So this guy was enough tough... but when you fights like a rifleman with stupid commanders, your days are short - looks like this man had a time to live about week or some more after he was mobilized.

One of the Russian's fundamental mistakes is mistaking toughness for effectiveness.

UKR field kitchen dishes: cheese soup, buckweat with vegetables, meat stew, salad, tea

Usaully field kitchen is a part of supply unit in battalion/battery.

As I told, soldiers also often cook themselves on own positions if situation allows + food reserve received from civil volunteers. MREs are mostly for raids and for heavy situations, where you can't be supplied by normal food.

Deputy head of administration Stremousov announced the failure of the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kherson region

Quote

The complete failure of the Ukronazi offensive in the Kherson region.

The Russian army completely repelled an attempt to break through in the Berislav direction of the Kherson region.

Around 5 am, the Ukronazis opened massive fire from barrel artillery and MLRS.

Under cover of fire, about 30 tanks and infantry fighting vehicles went on the offensive.

Mobile groups of the enemy in armored vehicles and off-road vehicles tried to break through between the strongholds and cut off the Dudchany-Melovoe road, hoping that the armored vehicles following them would be able to wedge in and expand the breakthrough of the front.

Artillery and mortars began to work on the advancing armored groups of Nazis and mercenaries.

Army aviation helicopters came to the rescue and destroyed several pieces of equipment with guided missiles.

Mobile groups of Nazis in pickups were able to go a little deeper, but were repulsed by our ATGMs and grenade launchers.

The Kherson region of the Russian Federation is under the full protection of the Russian army.
