Locating units in Vehicle Pack

Recommended Posts

I have spent over an hour going through the Editor looking for the Allied units included in the new Vehicle Pack, which has resulted in a high level of frustration. I haven't even attempted to find the Axis units yet.

I read the Vehicle Pack Manual, and had that open on my tablet as I went through the Editor trying to find the units listed in the Manual. Is there a better way to go about this?

Where is the Priest Kangaroo located? Where is the Sherman Crab?

Here are a few suggestions to reduce the frustration level of at least, this customer:

1. Include the Vehicle Pack units locations in the Manual. List the Formations/Specialist Teams/Single Vehicles where they can be found within the Editor.

2. Within the Editor list a designation next to each unit, which indicates which Base Game/Module/Pack with which they are associated. For example, units included with the Base Game would have no designation. Units that came with the Commonwealth Module would have a CW next to their names in the Editor. Units that came with Market Garden would have a MG next to their names, an units that came with the Vehicle Pack would have a VP next to their names.

3. Include a Scenario file (*.btt) that has all of the new units on a map. This would allow the customer to load up the Vehicle Pack.btt as a Scenario and then be able to view all of the new units. This Scenario does not need any AI plans or a fancy map. Just the new units so that the player can look at them and get familiar with what is new.

What I always do is check the single vehicle list first...95% of the time you'll be able to find everything there.

Priest Kangaroo is under Canadians...pretty sure it's Armoured Infantry.

Sherman crab will be under US and Brit Armor...probably anytime in mid July or after.

Here, this will save me some typing; http://www.mediafire.com/download/8xynq2qnzlda5xx/Vehicle+Pack.btt

They should put in another option for timeline rarity.

For those that do not really give a shat it would allow them to find all the vehicles under one setting. If you are into playing PBEM's or such under strict conditions then you set it to 'historical' and that only allows you to pick what was available at that time. Too many posts on 'I cannot find this' - 'but all you have to do is look under British / June / 1943'.

I had a similar problem until I realised that I had not yet entered the Vehicle Pack Liscence code which you have to do to activate the Vehicle Pack. Once you have done that you will see the Priest APC symbol Lille Friskerby describes. If you can see tghat you should be able to locate mst of the new vwehicles pretty easily. For examle the British Crocodiles are under British Armour Crocodile Regiment (pretty obvious really :-) ), the Sherman Crabs are under Flail Squadron, he Churchill X Lt is under Tank Battalion (because it iss an Infantry Tank) but then you need to look under Heavy Tank in the optionas list a the bottom of the screen, I have not found all the German stuff yet but, to be fair I have not really looked yet

I must admit, I do have sympathy.

I'm one of those guys who if he goes on a driving trip is guaranteed to get hopelessly lost along the way. And strangers stop me on the street to ask directions at their peril. Sometimes negotiating the TO&E feels like that time I took a motorcycle trip from my house to Cape Breton Island. I never did manage to find my way in one side of Halifax and out the other!

I like it. I -hate- not finding whatever it is, only to be told, "Why, old chap, that's OBVIOUSLY only available after August of '44. Heh, heh, heh... Effing beta tester..."

Really. I hate it.

The timeline "Unhistorical" setting would be a boon.

Hit the space bar when purchasing units in the editor.

What was the tag line for that board game 'Othello'? "A minute to learn, a lifetime to master". The same might apply to CM. I've been at it since the very beginning and still sometime I simply forget what I knew! Now that I think of it, I do believe I've entirely forgotten how to toggle command lines. So back to the manual or the key commands menu for me.

I'm with you on "a lifetime to master", but for me CM*1 even wasn't "a minute to learn" :o. Knowing next to nothing back in the day about tactics or units I was at a complete loss concerning what to do. But I had fun none the less :)

I guess "a lifetime to master" is what keeps me playing over and over and over...

Thanks for your input guys. Your suggestions were helpful. Searching by month and using the Space Bar in the Editor improved my ability to find some but not all of the units.

However, I have not had success locating the Grille. I did find a heavy infantry gun formation listed, as the sIG 33, but it does not say Grille, and it is not listed in the Editor as part of the Vehicle Pack. I was able to purchase it in the Editor but it does not show up in 3D View. Also the Flakpanzer 38(t) is not listed in the Editor as being part of the Vehicle Pack.

The effort required to locate all of the units included in the Vehicle Pack has really been ridiculous. Battlefront should include a location guide for each unit included in the Pack. Why this was omitted is a mystery. What were you guys thinking? This sort of frustration imposed on the customer will probably hurt future sales more than the price.

I don't get how anyone could find this difficult.

First thing I did when I (finally) got the pack was set up a small scenario to test the units out (holland, 1944, september).

Put in 1 forward observer on each side, then I picked the "single vehicle" option to pick out all the tanks, then "specialist units" to get the flamethrowers.

Bunkers were right there in the formations.

Only thing I had to "go looking for" was the priest kangaroo, and all I had to do there was switch to canadians.
