benpark
Coming soon- Map of Ortona, Italy. 992 Wide x 1552 High. Largely historical, but with some adjustments to keep roads straight and so on. There is damage added to the map, but things like the rubble pile will be best simulated using fortifications. I also like to let the player destroy most of the map. This is a very large map, with quite a few structures and flavor objects on it. It was intended to be chopped up into smaller parts. That said, I just ran a test on it using a battalion vs. battalion with support units in a QB, and I could get between 10-30fps. Playable, but my computer is decent. So use lowest settings if you are nervous about opening it in the editor- I bear no responsibility for smoking, wheezing computers. I may include a QB version later if I get around to it. I just don't have time for doing a full on scenario to the standard I'd like. In the meantime, if anyone wants to use it for scenarios for release, have at it (just give me a credit for my toils). Pictures (units not included in final product, only the map!)....

Jaeger Jonzo
Looks fantastic, thanks for your efforts! Hope some clever scenario maker sets up the epic but brutal Canuck v Jerry clash here.
The Teacher
I was thinking of making a set of independent battles based on the real battles, I dont think a campaign would work because of the carnage and other factors. Someone might be able to but I prefere independent battles as I said. Cheers Stephen
benpark
Just submitted to the Repository. I still can't figure out how to add an image to it there. I've also uploaded it to GaJ's Warehouse: http://cmmods.greenasjade.net/mods/4978/details

ropey
Very nice map and appears true to the town itself. It'll be interesting to see how FJs cope with the defence within the CM world.
Oddball_E8
I'm curious about the town itself. Was it really that heavily "paved" (well, cobble stones but still)? I would have expected a bit more grassy areas or gravel alleyways and the likes. I've tried finding pictures from the town itself around this time, but all I can find are pictures from the battles where everything is chewed up...
ropey
Paving everywhere. Well, most alleys, etc. The old town had been there for quite some time so the roads were well established. Perhaps the outskirts less so, and even the main roads cut up quite quickly under tank tracks, etc.
kohlenklau
We are now using the entire map in a multiplayer battle of actual Canadians (several) vs the axis. Thanks Ben!

kohlenklau
This thread is 3 years old! That website is no longer up. The map is in the BFC suppository I am pretty sure. But I can pass it to you if you can't track it down.
A Canadian Cat
Is this it? http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tsd3/cm-fortress-italy/cm-fortress-italy-add-ons-maps/cmfi-ortona-city-map/ That listing does not say it is from Ben but it is an Ortona map
