Pete Wenman
Just in case no one notices the latest announcement http://www.battlefront.com/community/announcement.php?f=137&a=537 P
Crender
I wonder why the beta screenshots are taken without much anti-aliasing? It doesn't help to make a good impression. In fact the alpha shots look way better IMO. Also slighly concerned to still see stripey/jagged shadows in some of the beta shots (9, 14, 16for eg).
gunnersman
Screen shot #5 has the an AT gun in the trench. Is that new with Version 2.0 or is that something I've missed?
Childress
Everyone was so stoked about the screenshots they neglected to check out the list of new vehicles and formations. Like the Blackshirt Battalion. http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=298&Itemid=511
MikeyD
For those doing research the "Light Tank Battalion (L5 tank)" L5 is also known by the name Fiat 3000.
Michael Emrys
Jeez, what a piece of antiquated junk. It looks like it would roll over and die if you even looked mean at it. Michael

The alphas do look better. So, two weeks between the original announcement and this one. Does that mean the Demo will be out in about another two weeks?

ChrisND
It looks like Renault FT 17! It basically is a FT-17. A modified Italian version, but basically the same tank.

Paper Tiger
Not that I'm aware of. We were able to position guns in trenches in the base game when it was first released. But the AT gun got no benefit from being in the trench. What might have changed is that it now does but you'll need to wait for somebody official to confirm/deny that.
Kanonier Reichmann
Nice screen shots. Hopefully BFC will be able to ensure the German helmet is fixed before release to depict the lip of the helmet correctly, as they did with the initial release of CMBN. There is one tank that the Fiat tankette looks positively ferocious when lined up against it (and probably the only one)... the Bob Semple! Redwolf
Mumble this theater and scope and hence TOE is a little too narrow for my taste, and for my full-game money mumble.
MikeyD
Yeh, I can see how thirty four major formations, twenty six different tank types, thirty two different vehicle types, and sixteen different large caliber-on map weapons can feel a tad constricting.

Yeah, well, the Bob Semple is in a class by itself. I mean, it's almost ingenious, a work of art...Dada that is. Michael
Michael Emrys
I thought he was just sick of pasta. I think it's the bright Mediterranean sunshine; it hurts his northern eyes. Michael
Childress
Mumble this theater and scope and hence TOE is a little too narrow for my taste, and for my full-game money mumble. Are you serious or kidding? At any rate, this downsizing issue and consequent trauma is BF's fault. They potty trained their customers in the past to expect games of massive scope (viz. CMBB) followed by diligent patching. It's like the All-You-Can-Eat joint which has been demolished and replaced by a haute cuisine French affair. Great for most of us. But some long for the joy of piling up their plates with Swedish meatballs for 5.99. I find it odd that wargames that feature *a single battle* don't seem to attract the same kind of flak.

Well let's look at one of those, shall we? Panzer Command has a single battle per game. Unfortunately they allow users to add 3D models and unit data, so it comes out being more flexible than CMFI. I also don't see who declaring the US side of Normandy sufficient subject for a full game (which I do) necessarily means that Sicily must be sufficient, too. Maybe the Italian vehicles turn out more fun than I think? We'll see.

And I don't believe going open source would be in to Battlefront's long term financial interest. And we do want them to prosper. Right?

How is allowing mods going open source? Or making games with enough new stuff to attract customers for that matter?
Mord
Are you competing for densest person on the forum? How is allowing mods going open source? Or making games with enough new stuff to attract customers for that matter? That's not dense. Allowing anyone and everyone to create content is pretty "open source". And now you are being dense...what part of the module/pack concept doesn't add "new content"? You are basically looking for something to bitch about and ignoring the stuff that would counter argue your own gripes. Mord.

Redwolf
Allowing anyone and everyone to create content is pretty "open source". No, it's not in the slightest. And allowing modifications to 3D models doesn't equal creating content in the general sense.
JonS
[Panzer Command] allow users to add 3D models and unit data, so it comes out being more flexible than CMFI ... ... on ONE dimension. It comes out being vastly less flexible in every other dimension. FTFY.
