I notice you are playing CMSF2 from the blue force side so I'd imagine the professional soldiers with high experience is partly causing this. Switch to WW2 titles or to the Syrians and you may experience something a touch different. It's also easier to spot things that are moving so the Syrians maybe spotting your troops as they move into position. You also become very easy to spot once your pixeltruppen start firing their weapons effectively sending giant "I am here" flares.
Yes the recent patch did toughen up the morale of infantry in hard cover but that was after some horrible (IMO and I think many others) experiences of troops breaking far to easily and fleeing hard cover/good positions where running meant getting killed quicker. See my German "Fire and Rubble" Beta AAR thread over in the CMRT forum where I explain my experiences in more detail fighting in an urban environment.
    Tips and tricks:
    - High explosive is now incredibly important in dislodging an enemy from building (or at least doing it quicker).
    - Watch you ammo counts. Your troops will be expending a terrible lot of ammunition now in city fighting given the morale tweaks.
    - Keep in mind the calibre of your small arms. A .50 cal round can punch right through a building and out the other side. A 5.56 NATO probably doesn't get past the wall.
    - Earlier comments are right. If you target the enemy infantry directly your troops will only shoot when they have positive spots. Plot an area fire order and the troops will keep up the fire. Just because they will likely lose sight of the enemy in the occupied building doesn't mean they can't cause the enemy casualties if the enemy is still occupying the location the fire is heading towards.
    - If possible try to get into position first so your troops have more chance of spotting and shooting first.
    - The first few seconds of the engagement are critical. Try to overwhelm the enemy in the first few seconds of a firefight when they are unaware and still out of position/exposed in windows etc. Open fire with one team of a few rifles it alerts the enemy. Open with a whole platoon and there's a good 10 fold increase of bullets heading their way as they are exposed. My AAR has a good example of this where the Soviet slaughtered pretty much a full platoon and about 15 seconds as they were still setting up inside the building.
    - The hunt command is essential for entering pretty much any building in a modern title so your troops are guns up and ready to engage contact.

    Hope that helps.

chuckdyke is probably correct.  I also find snipers best if left alone with good LOS to a valuable target and not given manual orders (or simply used for spotting with a short arc).

If you give a manual command the sniper misses every time. A sniper makes his own decision just in real life. You place him in a spot with a cover arc, and let the AI call the shot. Snipers are more useful in spotting which they do 90% of the time. Use DOPE Data Of Personal Equipment aka the Snipers Bible Take note when the sniper scores a kill. I found it out with DOPE Position the sniper and let him face in the right direction using a cover arc< I never give him a manual command. Also make sure the sniper has at least a sound contact before you put him in his position. Sound contact is the wrong expression, another unit spots the enemy through the command chain the info passes on. Make sure the sniper has the secondary contact icon.

The idea to have the 'Key People' occupying Key Terrain. Key Terrain permits the observation of the objective and area of operations. . From there the leader can bear the fire power of his units upon the enemy.

This should be reflected by the rarity points cost.
All my price examples are based on equal crew quality (Regular, +0), so they can be compared directly.

If you want to understand what your unts are doing (& why) Iron Mode is the way forward.....You can see what each unit sees, know who they are in contact with and follow information as it is passed along and across the chain of command much easier.
It doesn't affect game difficulty in any way.

8,553 Panzer IVs of all versions were built during World War II
More than 50,000 Shermans were produced between 1942 and 1945.
Not my emphasis, but I think it makes the point quite well, so I left it.

I think that you can also call in Helicopters which will successfully engage targets out of LOS, by using just an FO / air controller and no other troops on the map, so agree with @Combatintman that your observation doesn't substantiate your claims 100%.

I just tested and confirmed that with only an air controller (and a hq team next to it, out of LOS of enemies) you can call in helo / fixed wing strikes and they can detect and take out targets for themselves. You can even target helicopter strikes without LOS to the area, for fixed wing you need LOS to the area where you want to call in the strike but you don't need any contacts in LOS whatsoever.

What is, imo, true is that contacts in C2 which are spotted by others and, through c2 info sharing, shared with the air controller calling the airstrike 'helps'. So it's not 'the PDA's' directly talking to the airframes, however PDA's (although it's an abstracted icon for various sort of devices) help the info sharing and during the chat with the aircrew the air controller can use that info to direct the airstrikes onto the contacts he knows about. The more accurate the info, the better.
Infantry targets etc are harder to detect purely by the aircrews (although helicopters are better at this than fixed wing), so having your troops in c2 (so green lights with their HQ and same thing for the air controller) looking out for the enemy does certainly improve effectiveness of airstrikes.

Speaking as a former mech soldier, there is one FO per platoon plus a FIST team at company level. The platoon FOs are usually SPCs, and the Company FIST team comprises a LT, a SSG and a PFC/SPC RTO, who ride in a M7 Bradley FIST/V.

Hmm.  I thought that in games I played that any FO can call in air support with no LOS (in the modern titles).  If everyone has a PDA then everyone has the same info(?)

The 'MOUT Phase' was expensive. I used the scouts to read the terrain, the interior of the buildings etc (they don't need to move at all). Abrams they don't have canister or conventional HE! The FiST Bradley was perfect for MOUT operation. Approach Platoon of Bradleys and the FiST Bradley on the far left take the barrier near the mosque (Lost a Bradley) You need engineers to clear it. The Abrams used for breaching buildings the Kornet's were no problem, they tell you in the briefing where they are. The scouts already did their work. I need some tips for MOUT in this scenario as I had only a tactical victory. Next time I would use the Javelins against buildings. One scout team recon the far right for in case enemy was located there. (They were not). Once at LOA the FiST Bradley can call the artillery to assist with mopping op.

With Sonnie Terry and Brownie McGhee's "Move into Germany" blasting from your speakers this campaign is so much more enjoyable. On a more serious note, take benpark's advice on board, make use of your firepower. And also, remember, these are not "old men and boys" that you are facing, you might be confusing Volksgrenadier, with Volksturm.
Just for the record, playing on Iron I managed a "Major Victory" for this campaign, and I consider myself to be pretty rubbish at CMx2.

    It doesn't matter unfortunately.
In CM, as soon as the temperature dips below freezing, ground is treated as being frozen solid and bogging becomes very unlikely (even when ground conditions are set to damp). It's very rare that I lose vehicles to bogging in open country in light/medium snow.

I find the autocannon on warriors or USMC 40mms work well to demolish those high concrete walls that surround some compounds etc.
For mouseholing demo charges works better.. Ill lay down. Target light as the game gives friendly infantry a pass on small arms.
Not sure if you know this trick but asigning the blast command PARALELL to what you want to blast through will make the team blast the wall but not rush in.  Or rush through.
