ncc1701e reacted to bweiß in RT Unofficial Screenshot Thread
Wow, looking at all these screenies of RT glory got me to do some more tweaking of my color, gamma, and saturation profiles. To fully enjoy the great work of our talented modders one must tinker with a host of various monitor, graphics card, and post processor frag settings, all of which impact each other... At first I wanted to pull my hair out but focusing on the skin or flesh tone color as a visual base made it a bit easier. So I started there. Still tinkering with the Nvidia digital vibrance and gamma settings as I'm using a base RGB icm setting on the old AOC 2560 monitor. It has a rep for being a bit washed out in color display. Anyway, I think I may have finally gotten to a point of being satisfied with the results. Eye candy for all.

MINUTE 25
On my left wing, after few mortar shots last turn, my men are assaulting the woods.
The objective is to clean up the left flank of my assault on the main objective.
Speaking of it, my troops are approaching of the objective.
My scout team is still ahead of the attack.
And I am lucky. The little trap, setup here, has not worked since these guys are facing the wrong direction. 🤗
My scout team has killed one bad guy but the two others are firing back.
Just the time to throw a grenade before being shot...
Oh no! Brian has been hit! Brian has been hit!

@Badger73 In the meantime, you can check this video on Youtube from someone called "Proambulator". This is an excellent introduction to AI triggers.

Exciting grenade action there. Too bad your guys didn't drop the thrower just a moment earlier.

Understood. I do not own CMBS too but the editor is the same. Give me few days to make something.

Ahhhh.....Smokescreens!
If there were one tweak I would bite your arm off for right now it would be the ability to assign a turn number (or even better a start and end time) to the AI Targets list.....God what a difference that would make!
Please, please @Battlefront.com, if it's possible, make it happen!

ncc1701e reacted to MikeyD in 4.0 AI Withdraw Orders
I just ran a quick mini test for both AI retreat and AI face.
For retreat the vehicles popped smoke, backed away and stopped at the designated spot facing the enemy. For AI face, the units proceeded to their destination, stopped and rotated about to face to spot their suppose to face.
Are you putting you retreat spots in the correct place? I initially was confused by that, myself. Also, if you haven't properly timed your AI orders the AI will immediately begin to implement the next orders. So there needs to be some time between your retreat order finishing and your next advance 'begin at' order.

Yes, yes, yes...give it to me !!!! 😁
This is something i would really like also...some kind of timer...
Do this for XX minutes...wait at this waypoint for XX minutes...the gameclock and triggers that we have now don't allow for this since there is no way of knowing excatelly when each AI order will be carried out as far as the gameclock goes...a certain AI order may be triggered at min 23 or at min 31 for example...the usefullnes of the gameclock as a timer is therefore limited...
I agree with the sgt...please BFC...give us a timer...

The areafire with the on-map mortars is a nice new feature with V.4 but unfortunatelly it is limited to HE and rather low calliber HE at that...when 'timed' smoke or larger caliber HE is desired the area fire feature is of no use currently...
Its a nice step in the right direction but not quite there yet..

MINUTE 24
On my right wing, the suppression fire continues.
Germans are retreating...
In the center, I am rushing toward the central objective. The opposition is null. How is it possible?
On the left, I am progressing slowly because I know Germans are hiding there.
The shaken troops in the center are still resting. Only one team is able to progress.
Good progression this turn. I will secure the central objective and the left flank, next turns, before going forward...

ncc1701e got a reaction from Macisle in AI triggers - Thanks a lot guys!
All right, I am late. Starting scenario design on CMSF1 and finishing it on CMSF2.
But, the AI trigger is just a brilliant addition. Playing with it right now and it is adding much more possibilities. Thanks! Just thanks!
Next, I begin to understand why people wants:
more AI groups - 32 instead of 16 (to allow more flexibility) more Terrain objectives - 30 instead of 15 (to add more triggers) Cheers

ncc1701e reacted to GhostRider3/3 in Barkmann's Corner revisited
Ok not sure if anyone can help put this bloody scenario back on TPG II. I cant upload the BTT. file for some reason and I cant find any useful help in uploading files. Everything has changed in uploading and it seems more difficult, I am no computer genius and that site is extremely cumbersome for me, which means probably no more scenario making for me. The last site was much easier to traverse. I tried even zipping it up but still no go, it is rejected every time.
Anyways a little advice or assistance would be great.
thanks,
James.

ncc1701e reacted to John Kettler in Project 44 Maps First Canadian Army in Normandy
This is an unprecedented effort by the CRMA (Canadian Research Mapping Agency), a volunteer outfit started by veterans to fully map the entire movements of the Canadian Army in Normandy, starting with the invasion maps and going forward. But it's much more than maps, because it includes/will include all the War Diaries covering where Canadian units were, enemy sightings, combat, etc, as well as piles of pre-war, wartime, and post war photos. All the other forces friendly and not are also covered as to their locations if they were in the AO. The amount of material compiled is monumental and will be fully searchable, too. Project 45 after that will follow the First Canadian Army to the end of the war.

Turn 1:50-1:49
As the turn begins, the men flee the houses and head for the open field away from where the spotting rounds have been falling.
At the end of the last turn, this guy made an appearance. He appears to be firing at the tower of the church but has so far hit nothing.
One of my two inch mortars had a clear line of sight and begins to drop rounds on him. I really hope a nice HE round will land in the back of the halftrack and set it ablaze.
My sniper in the church tower spots this juicy target at the end of the turn. He is given orders to fire away at the men in the back. Hopefully he can pick off one or two... The two inch mortar round is exploding in the background.
Over with C Company, these men continue to shift around in anticipation of the 81 mm rounds coming in. The trouble with playing Iron mode, these mortar rounds seem to take forever to come in.

I take a break by switching from tactical to operational level warfare, like The Operational Art of War. back & forth, keeps both fresh. Currently doing 'what if' scenario where instead of sending forces south for the great kiev encirclement in august 1941, germans go for broke toward Moscow, as guderian et al suggested. I am encircling and destroying lots of soviet forces, but dang, there's always more. And my supply lines aren't getting any shorter. Turns out mechanized units need fuel, who knew? And in two years or so I bet I'll be doing 1941 battles like this in CM (please please please).

MINUTE 23
My actions are still focused on my left wing but it also starts on my right wing as well.
On the right, I have now two machine guns in position to harass a little the Germans in front of them.
On the left, my mortar team is doing some indirect fire where the Germans just retreats. I hope to undermine their morale.
My halftrack is still firing from time to time.
On my right wing, the Germans are pinned.
Looking at the clock, looks like I will miss some mortar fires except if there is few minutes left after scenario ends.
But, do you know what is the most strange during this turn? I have realized this after replaying the turn once more. In fact, the volume of fire from the Germans is decreasing. I am even wondering if they shoot at anything this turn. So, I have ordered few moves ahead in the center for next turn. Will see...
