So if I violently invade your house, kick you out, and when you try to get back, you get told "sorry, the people who live in the house decide", that is fine and dandy? Good to know, where do you live?
EDIT: the fact that the openly pro-Russia+pro-China commenter is actual Florida Man tickles my stereotyping brain in a funny way.

Another pet peeve: human waves attacks.
I don't even know how you would describe what Russians and Wagner in particular are doing when they send these squad or platoon sized elements forward with barely any support at all but for me that's not really what a human wave attack is. Soviets in front of Moscow sending companies or whole battalions of conscripts yelling hurrah at German positions (instant cmbb nostalgia) en masse or Iraq-Iran war okay.

You know it is a bit funny but I am not quite sure the translation is accurate in these vids. What is usually translated by "orc" is another word entirely. I think what they usually say is "pidori" which means "f*ggot" as far as I know. And both sides use this expletive. So maybe that's just me but I find the orc thing a bit cringe. Nothing personal, I just thought it was worth pointing out.
edit : Ah sorry I see Haiduk commented on that before.

    Zveroboy1 reacted to STURM-FAKTION in 18 x 12 Km MAP- Scale 1:1
    Aj,
I just designed 9 maps (each of 6x4 Km), making one continuous map of 18x12 Km. Making the whole area, a total of 216 Km2 playable.
Each one of these, linked to the others to the very tiles. They form one single map designed for an operation(a series of op.)I will challenge, and then report in detailed AAR.
I already have the Corps and divisional briefings. The narrative purpose, and precise OOB for all units involved. (Experience, fitness, even portraits...). For both camps. I have also created a full-set of rules to make it readable from the outside if anyone have interest on it. But I will create another dedicated thread in a few days when the operation starts.
Of course the maps are topographic, and the result is realistic. For comparison; the real Operation Südwind was fought over 200Km2. The real Operation Frühlingserwachen was fought over more like 400Km2. But in reality, most of it concerned the different Panzer Korps engaged. Reducing the area to the actual size of my map if you focus on the SS, and not in the rear. Elements of 1 & 12 SS managed a brief breakthrough 24Km in depth, but the very most of the operation hold in a 18x12 area.
    Picture 1: THE MAP.
I will post others infos right now, but first...I'm requesting help from the CM Community.
WILL SOMEONE ? LIKE A VETERAN ? EXPERIENCED-SUPERIOR THINKER ? WILL SOMEONE STEP UP AND AGREE TO BUILD ME A REALISTIC SOVIET PAKFRONT ? SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTAND WELL THE MECHANISM OF DEFENSE IN DEPTH AND ECHELONED LINE OF DEFENSE ?
I will manage the Axis forces. What I need is someone I could send my maps. I will join the AT Guns, trenches, and set of AT / AP mines allowed to cover the area. If this someone is ready to do so, then, he'll have to organize a coherent networks of nest and fortifications with the idea to hold an armored operation. 🙂
To handle the AI on defense, this I can. To handle a 3, 4 times superior AI counter-attacking, this I can. To let the AI set-up their own defenses...I can't. By doing it myself, it will spoil the conclusion on battlefield.
well, now the pictures. thanks a lot

I am fairly certain it has always been like this. And it is backwards compatible obviously, otherwise with 4.04 installed you couldn't use stuff made with previous versions.
By the way, nice map. Keep them coming.

I'd just like to know if our bug reports are seen and acted on, is all. What were the major fixes here?
"Matrix/Slitherine Tournament scoring fix" does not really address the bulk of the problems. I'm a little disappointed, if I'm being frank.

Situation in Bakhmut according to Bakhmut Demon
    Apr 13 day
There are heavy clashes for railway station and territory around. Russians hammered all around with heavy arty and airstrikes, so UKR troops couln't be keep positions. There are many local clashes with variable success. Everything is changing continuously. Some good news from central part of the city - we have successful counter-attack, but details shouldn't be issued.
Southern part of city - we have success along Korsuns'koho str. - clashes are continuing, guys are holding, we even slightly push forward, but not so much, just retaken several previously lost positions.
Northern part of city - situation is more tense, but controlled.
Orcs are throwing to Bakhmut more and more own meat.
    Apr. 13 night
Nothing good.... Russians are crossing railway, alas.
    Apr. 14 (late mornig- noun)
Russian artilery is working very tough. We still hold corridor to Kostiantynivka, do not allow motherf...rs to cross railways, their assaults of Ivanivske and Khromove failed again. We have won one more day, but what will be further, I'not predicting
Apr 14 (mid of the day)
We are advancing along several streets simultainously in northern and southern parts of the city. But this is tactical offensives we didn't break nothing yet. Just our artillery succesfully worked out at orcs, depriving them of support. Railway hasn't been retaken yet [unclear what he meant]
     Apr 14 (two hours ago)
The road through Ivanivske still holds by 5th assault brigade. Motherf...rs are trying to breakthrough, but proper approach to defense organization of this extra-important "way of life" doesn't allow to do it for them. More even, our guys are fighting them back in small forest southward from Ivanivske. Also we are attacking the enemy on the north of the city in garages area near railways.
The road to Bakhmut (probably from Kostiantynivka)

UKR Buk M1 still in action
Before a war we had three AD regiments armed with Buk M1. Each regiment had three battalions. I don't know about current structure of battery, but according to Soviet shtat, each battalion had three batteries per two TELARs 9A310 and one TEL 9A39 launchers. So, full shtat for 9 battalions/27 batteries requires 81 launchers
MilBalance reported about 72 Buk M1 on 2016 year, but unknown how much of them were in working conditions.
According to Orix we lost 12 launchers (10 TELARs and 2 TELs)

It's hard for me to concur with the last argument. That's quite obvious that a scenario or a campaign that you designed yourself will not be very challenging for you to play, as you know the strengths and weaknesses of your opponents.
If everybody doesn't bother to create campaigns because it's not interesting to play them afterwards, well, there wouldn't be any community made scenarios and campaigns, would it? When you design scenarios and campaigns, it's not for YOURSELF, it's for the community… (And for the pleasure to CREATE, as well…)

Interesting stuff.  Something similar will work to accommodate players who want extra time in scenarios.  Example: The scenario time limit is set at one hour and the briefing advises the player he is expected to be finished in one hour for maximum possible VPs.  However the actual scenario is longer than one hour.  If the player decides he wants (or maybe needs) to go past one hour mark he can.  But at about one hour and five minutes the AI spawns a reinforcement on a touch or occupy objective worth a modest amount of VPs.  This reinforcement typically spawns inside an inaccessible building in the AI corner of the map.  A small building with no doors or windows in heavily forested tiles surrounded by swamp tiles.  The touch / occupy objective is scored to keep the player from total or major victory but will not by itself defeat the player.  So the player has a choice of playing in a more methodical slow way or going for the max points in one hour.  This method helps to accommodate the two different styles of play.
I often include friendly reinforcements which are OpFor spot objectives.  I learned this from @George MC.  Example: At 20 minutes into the scenario the player receives a platoon of tanks as reinforcements.  They spawn in an area out of sight of the AI OpFor.  The briefing explains this platoon is part of the battalion reserve or some such.  The tank platoon is a 300VP spot objective for the OpFor.  The player now has a choice.  Accomplish the mission without the tanks and get the maximum VPs possible or maybe use the tanks to take more occupy objectives.  If the remaining occupy objectives are 400 VPs maybe it is worth using the battalion commanders reserve?  IMO decisions are part of the fun of the game.
I've used this in scenarios like Kriegsburg, and Alarmeinheiten.  I think I used both the extra time method and spot objective in Coup d'etat.
A lot of fun and interesting stuff working with the AI.

Hello everyone! I found an excellent map of Mariupol on the Internet (the left-bank district adjacent to Azovstal) and decided to redo it a little towards realism (replaced non-existent three-storey, four-storey, six-storey and eight-storey buildings with standard "Khrushchev" and nine-storey buildings, changed the entrance system to buildings, leveled roads, etc.), creating my own mission for the Reds against AI. I paid the greatest attention to the arrangement of Ukrainian units in defense. The conception is based on the advantage of the Russians in firepower, and the Ukrainians in communications and organization.

I have Ukraine '43 from Simonitch. It is really good imo, I rate it highly and it is particularly interesting if you want to get some hindsight about how a Soviet offensive was conducted across a large front back then. The rules aren't that complicated, the counter density isn't very high at all: only two counters per hex. So it is fairly manageable, not a monster wargame that you'll never play. However, it is like all tabletop wargames really, not the type of game you can replay over and over constantly, not at an operational scale like this at least. Besides it is division/corps scale. I don't really see how that could even work for the present day conflict. You'd might need a battalion or brigade level game instead probably. But really how do you even plan on adapting the rules? That sounds like a colossal undertaking. Or do you just need the map alone?
Maybe a game in the Next war family would be more appropriate. It is about potential contemporary conflicts but there is no module on Ukraine, just Korea, India-Pakistan and Poland.

At dawn it looks like and it had to be along one of these two small dirt roads. Probably the one on the west side imo because even though it is hard to see here, it has trees on both sides unlike the other road, but I can't be certain. But maybe they used both. I wonder how they cleared the mines because that's something they clearly have been struggling with a lot.

Also interesting how it looks like it took place at dawn. On the captured attack plan in the Kherson area I linked a few pages before, the assault takes place at the end of the afternoon so they have enough daylight left for the attack but not enough for Ukrainians to mount a counter-attack before it gets dark.

This is some good footage. I have actually seen this before except that the first part was cut, where it shows them driving towards their objective. I have been mapping this area for fun and knew they reached the dachas across the road from Vuhledar proper and even the gas station there at some point, before being repelled but I was wondering how they managed to actually get there in the first place and which way the attack came from. Very useful.
