Good troubleshooting. The current (original) version of CMSF uses the eLicense copy-protection system. Since CMBN Battlefront has used a copy-protection system that they call the 'Online Activation System' or something to that effect. It is a different copy-protection system that does NOT have an unlicense function. There is no external 'service' and everything is wrapped up in an encryption system (which occasionally trips up some anti-virus/security programs with false positives). I don't know if CMBN and newer games would run into the same issue with the banking security software that CMSF did.
I can only guess that the banking security software may have been going out and possibly shutting down programs/services that it doesn't recognize (most likely the 'runservice.exe') in order to prevent key-logging or some other eavesdropping program from taking your banking credentials.
As IanL mentioned, there are no retail copies of Battlefront games. CMSF was the last game that Battlefront allowed another retail distributor to carry and since then the games have only been available on the website.

With regard to rain, no I'm not suggesting that Battlefront does not include it, in fact I did not suggest anything in my post. You asserted that weather was not in CMSF which was untrue. In regard to dust storms, while you did use the word 'may' in relation to their inclusion, you could not point to any statement from Steve that led to your assumption about their inclusion.
The reason I have challenged you on this is because such speculation tends to get out of hand and leads to assumptions suddenly becoming facts in the minds of many and the second order effect of that is somebody whining down the track when the assumed feature isn't included eg 'why aren't dust storms included, you promised etc etc'.
I tend to agree with what @sburkesaid in another thread about it being better to wait for statements from Steve about the details of what will be in CMSF 2 because in my view idle speculation can be unhelpful in that it creates false expectations.
 

I thought I read it somewhere in the fora, by Steve himself - that when CMSF2 comes out - it will come out with all three modules and all. No ? ill try dig the forum, and search for it.

It would still be worth the $ to buy the modules.  However, it would be great to get everything in one bundle and pay one price - $100+ or whatever.  It's getting old the way games have been dribbled out bit by bit so one is bored/apathetic by the time the 3rd module is released.

Can't the Gliders be present as flavor objects - even though not used as a means of transport in real time during battle. The use of gliders might be limited, though Historical battles happened using them, and I'm sure there were a few lying around burning or used as a CP. what the heck, perhaps one can enter it for cover same as one storey building ?
I played scenario operation dead stick - with pretty wording glider1, 2 and 3.. Who knows how it'd look like as discussed above. It can also contain ammo, where one can enter to 'acquire' additional equipment and ammo.

There is a read me txt file that you downloaded with the SR mod pack that explains where to put the files for a PC. Please read that.

Quick comments. the recon phase was nice.. some ppl above commented that they could only see two to three at most BMPs.. HOWEVER, if you stand up your units, and remove them from the HIDE command., you will be able to see at least 2 to 3 more.. further back. The point target with arty went fantastic.
 
The Final Assault by the Syrians was a nice surprise
 
I won the battle as a US Minor Victory. the end report told me i occupied all positions alpha, bravo, charlie, x-ray. However, i can almost swear that i didn't occupy charlie with any of my units. could it be ? Minor bug? Just gently asking..

If you analyse the original message - it's all about wanting CM to fare better/more than it already is.  However, of course these are decisions best left to the Big Cheese who know a thing or two for the past 10-15 years or so.. i - am not one of them. 
 
Just like Doug said, i buy games Steam or no Steam. Irrespective.
 
But Sales/Money/Predicting the future of CM modules and depending on the business plan has a lot to Factor In in this issue.
