    They are labelled by introduction year of the Shtat.  The idea that these were unique to different parent formations was erroneous.  Even in Mech Corps, all three Shtat were in overlapping use through 1945.

    You can use tankfront.ru to look up Shtat for various units to some degree, e.g.:

    All the parent formations mentioned used a mix of different Shtat, but by our timeframe, the 1944 org was certainly dominant in Mech Brigades, and I don't think this one was used for separate regiment or Cavalry division tank regiments.  IIRC, a lot of separate regiments (as well as Cavalry Div. regiments) had by 1944 switched to 21-tank 010/463 and 010/464 Shtat. For this you can just rename a tank battalion. Still the older orgs remained in use in various places.

    Base game portraits are finally finished. A lot changed. They are up at CMMODS.
    As it stands right now there are 2500+ portraits for the module version of this mod (which isn't done yet), and just over 1200 for the base game.

    Personally, I find it really interesting.

    In the crew's POV, cutting of the engine is also a good way to listen the battlefield and possibly some panzer tracks...

    I'm also agree with you about the fact that the sound immersion is really important and that the engine sounds seems sometimes too persistant and monotone.

    Maybe the engine cutting are actual too sudden and too frequent ?

    Hi,

    Yes, there are Katyusha, but they're not named liked this.
     
    In fact, "Katyusha" is somewhat a generic name for Russian MLRS. There is lots of variant (different trucks, different rockets)
     
    So for Katyusha in CMRT, you can take the light, medium and heavy rockets.
     
    You've got :
       - 82mm :BM-8-24 (24 tubes), BM-8-36 (36 tubes), BM-8-48 (48 tubes) [LIGHT]
       - 132mm BM-13-16 (16 tubes)  [MEDIUM]
       - 300mm BM-31-12 (12 tubes), M-30-4 (4 tubes) [HEAVY]
     
    AFAIK, the 82mm rocket was the more common, so it's often this one we think of.

    PS: soviets named those units, "Guards Mortar" for deceive the enemy

    In real life, these were generally one full salvo, then the battery moved. In a major offensive prep barrage they might reload and fire again, but normally they wanted to be "out of dodge" before any counterbattery fires landed at their firing location. Which was obvious enough, with the smoke and noise and such, that such a shot involved. The rockets had less range than ordinary tube artillery, including the other guy's. So the SOP was to pull up on the friendly side of the line opposite the target, a mile or two behind then friendly front to have "reach" beyond it, and get everything set up for the salvo. Then fire off every rocket tube in one big stonk, as fast as they ripple off. And immediately pull out to a new location, and do any reloading there, for the next shoot.

    In the game, the FOs often fire a second salvo a few minutes after the first, at the same point of aim in the case of a map fire barrage. Which is overkill, because the beaten zone of the barrage is already well worked over. Also, you normally want to advance into the area just hit before the men messed up by the barragw have time to rally and pull themselves together into sone coherent shape. The second wave barrage is thus a nuisance, more often than not, in the game. FWIW.

    Thanks for the quick update guys. I'll be sure to give the link a check. I'm excited for this project because I think adding some kind of operational level aspect to Combat Mission would do a lot of good for the game. It would add a lot of depth to battles, and would greatly increase replayability. Anyways I hope that things continue, even if its a bit slow Greatly looking forward to the possibilities!

    I will confirm the existence of this project! Development has been slow, but it has been happening. The information ironsturm talks about comes from my humble forum where I try to keep most conversation regarding the project. Feel free to join, the link is on the first page! I will give you a small tidbit of info; please check here and/or my forum regularly for likely updates within the next week. There hasn't been much to officially report yet, however there are several things that are happening.

    I think you will be very happy...I have been playing CM for almost 13 years and I still get my ass handed to me by the AI and sneaky PBEM players.

    Thanks for your kind word E4Grunt, that's looks over saturated (in your opinion) because i use reshade, do you play CMBN? for me the stock colors need some adjustment but as Earl grey said that color shots is my taste but im sorry if it's not make some ppl happy with the colors but they can tweak to their own taste with reshade sweetfx to less saturate or edit those bmp file with psp and that's pretty easy
