  1. It looks to me like the Dingo was already disabled.
  2. In the same way, if you play any of the Normandy beach landing scenarios you will have hills on the horizon out at sea. Just one of the game's little quirks.
  3. Thanks for sharing this. An interesting article and video. When I was over in NOLA a couple of years back there was quite a bit of building work going on, I think that they were adding a whole new pavilion. If I ever get back to NOLA I'll certainly be giving the Museum another visit.
  4. Part of the problem comes from the fact that the .50 was originally meant as an anti-aircraft weapon when it was thought that the Luftwaffe would still pose a threat to allied tanks. Hence it's position to fire backwards and upwards. Only later did it find more use against enemy infantry. And over time new mountings were developed. But in Normandy a lot of Shermans still had the .50 mounted in the original position. So I think the game has it about right in that regard.
  5. One of the drawbacks of the "Regimental" system was that it hindered building a "Divisional" "epsrit de corps". Too many officers in the British Army engaged in point scoring against officers from different regiments within their parent division. The numbering system within the Whermacht and US Army helped to foster a pride in your division, as a whole.
  6. I've never really noticed much difference on screen, perhaps I've never looked hard enough. One thing that has lodged in my old brain, if a weapon has both Smoke and WP rounds e.g. the 2-inch Mortar, it tends to fire off the WP first. I've never been sure why this happens. Any ideas? Anyone?
  7. I'm currently playing "Bloody Dawn". I've noticed that all of my Shermans except one are carrying "Smoke" rounds. But, the M4A3(75)W is armed with "WP". I don't if this reflects history or not. I suspect someone on the forum might know.
  8. To be honest, I don't know how to upload anything. Sad old Limey that I am.
  9. You can pop into the scenario editor and change the elevation of some of the AS either side of the road. That will give you wider clearance through the arches. It took me a few attempts, but I ended up with a realistic looking road layout, rather than one that looked a bit like a roller coaster.
  10. Thanks for that, Michael... I think I may have gotten the idea that they had those type of things on Shermans from an old board game, not exactly a reliable source, just seemed to lodge in my old Limey brain.
  11. I'd like to have a "Beat up truck driver for not getting out of his cab to help unload ammo" command.... Only joking. I agree that with the suggestion that we can aquire ammo without actually getting into the vehicle. Although I suspect it might take a fair bit of development work.
  12. Would I be right or wrong in thinking that some variants of the M4 had a ring running around the hatch so that the .50 could be swung around to fire in any direction?
  13. I have "Theirs is the Glory" in my youtube library, I'll have to give it another viewing soon. In the meantime I'll take a look at your links... Glad to see the pictures of the 17-pdr at the Musuem. My problem is, that on my few visits there I've drunk too much when I've gotten back to Arnhem. So I can never remember what they have on display there.
  14. I think Ryan mentions the 17-pdr in "Bridge Too Far" within the Oosterbeek perimeter. I'm not sure how many there were. I'm not even certain if he had his facts right. Worth looking into.
  15. I didn't know that people still said things like "been in my cups". What a lovely old phrase.
  16. Given that we already have a Mod Forum and a Tech Support Forum, why not set up a Whingers Forum, then they can F%*K Off there to moan to their heart's content, and leave those of us who actually think that BF do good job in peace.
  17. Wicky.... v3.0... is the game engine that came out with Red Thunder... So when you installed that update, BN... changed from v2... to 2.10. And I assume the number for FI changed as well. I know it has confused a lot of people, including myself.
  18. Surely in Bristol... The number of cider houses outnumber everything else?
  19. Maybe is was a reasonable suggestion. Given that the "een" in Halloween means Eve, there is no such thing as "Hallowen Day" so BFC won't end up out of pocket with their giveaway.
  20. I find that I have pretty much the same problem as you when it comes to artillery. Getting it just right is a fine art that I have yet to master.
  21. The only way I try to get around the problem is to give the tank a short movement command and then have it "Target Light" or "Target Brief" somewhere new. Hopefully it will still have 1 or 2 smoke rounds remaining at the end of the turn. And I also have to hope that I haven't moved it into the line of enemy fire.
  22. Because they are made of metal and are travelling at speed. In that regard, they are just like any object falling to earth. I think you'll find that the "crater" is a fair bit smaller and shallower than those created by other artillery rounds.
