  1. Gobsmacked! I got something right. Doesn't mean that the AI won't give me a stuffing in my next battle.
  2. No offence taken. It was the only idea that I could come up with given the fact that there doesn't seem to be a location marked "FO" on the map.
  3. I've not fought "Frosty Welcome" yet. But, this kind of behaviour has cropped up in some of the other MG scenarios. In some cases you might need to tweak the map a little bit. In other cases you might just need to make sure that you don't end a "Move" command actually under the bridge. There are some other threads on the forum dealing with this subject, so you could do a little search to find more info.
  4. I assumed it to mean that I had to keep my FO team alive and still in the same position that they were in at the start of the battle. Perhaps the scenario designer had something else in mind, I was just glad to score a "Minor Victory" when I played it as the Axis.
  5. You can have the manual open and play the game on top of it. Then use 'Alt' and 'Tab' if you need to refer to the manual whilst playing. I sometimes have things like the Rank Insignia tables open beneath the game, comes in handy with my rubbish memory when I want to know who I'm sending to his death.
  6. Perhaps I'm showing my age. But, someone who studies History and smokes a bit of grass is alright in my book.
  7. I can't answer for Battlefront but here's my tuppence worth... 1. Repairs to immobilised vehicles are not within the time frame of CM battles. 2. This has been batted to and fro in previous threads and can't really be replicated within CM. 3. Simple answer is "No".
  8. Anyone who uses the word "palaver" is doing at least one thing right in my book. Haha. And one of the game's little quirks is for tank commanders to fire away on their .50 cal when they should be directing the fire of the main gunner, allowing the Jerry that they have a perfect side-on shot at, time to turn and fire back, whilst you stare at the screen helpless... All good fun.
  9. To concur with the above. The M7 and M10 are in no way the same vehicle. So you may have misread your manual. As a general rule. The .50cal was installed as a anti-aircraft weapon. But, with the Luftwaffe posing less and less of a threat as the war went on, it evolved into a close support weapon for use as and when the tank crew felt the need for it.
  10. Yes, I remember the fact that I enjoyed it a lot. And, worth another viewing sometime. So I'll being hitting the link above.
  11. I might be wrong but, I think that you can't give a command to use the .50 cals mounted on tanks and tank destroyers. The crew will decide themselves whether they use them or not. If someone knows more than me, I'm sure that they will help you soon.
  12. O.K.W. documents from late 1944 refer to "Wacht am Rhein". As far as I know, it was deliberately given a defensive sounding name to mis-lead the Allies. Of course, that doesn't stop it from having passed into German history as the "Ardenneoffensive". And no reason why we can't call it both, or call it the Battle of the Bulge. After all, Waterloo has at least three names that I can think of.
  13. OK.. I have to say that I don't remember seeing it. But, I might have just been too busy rubbing my hands together thinking "Oh goody, more Fireflys to kill Jerry with".
  14. Yes, I used to enjoy the sound of the punches and yells etc that you got with the original game.
  15. I didn't know that. It's been a good few years since I played it. What was the variant you have in mind called?
  16. It was the M36 Jackson in Beyond Overlord, and that's good enough for me.
  17. The millers set the brakes to "on" and legged it as soon as the bullets started flying.
  18. I really don't know what BFC have in mind for the future. Of course, the Vehicle Pack included Bunkers, so there is always a chance of more obstacles and fortifications becoming available.
  19. Crashed gliders would certainly look good. But I'm not sure how they could be included in the game. I've not seen any fields containing obstacles other than barbed wire. I agree with you it would be nice to have "Rommel's asparagus" and such like in the game.
  20. If you are going to introduce para drops into the game, where do you begin? When they leave the plane? When they hit the ground? Or somewhere in between? I really don't see the point of a whole new pack taking in transport planes, gliders, a "Remove parachute" command etc... The scenario editor allows us to replicate the randomness of parachute operations if we wish. And that seems fine to me.
  21. I tried playing this as the Germans. The AI dropped a few smoke rounds during the 1st turn, then nothing happened. I waited, for the Amis to attack for 50 minutes and still nothing, so I gave up. It's a shame cuz I really enjoy fighting battles from both sides.
  22. I have to admit that despite having this game for about 8 months, I didn't know until yesterday that Panzerfaust had instruction labels on them, let alone that the labels come in different colours. I'm a novice when it comes to posting screenshots. So I hope it works.
  23. I've lost count of the times I've yelled at my tank commanders in somewhat more expletive-laden language than Slim's when the lead has started flying. It would be nice if the moment the words "Hit, front turret" appeared on screen the commander buttoned up. Although I suspect if that was built into the game, we would then get people complaining that commanders were buttoning-up too quickly.
  24. I've seen spent cartridges being ejected from MGs and rifles quite often. And I do like to capture vehicle crews in mid-air when they are bailing out. But seeing printing on mortar rounds and smoke grenades is something totally new to me. I will certainly be looking harder in the future, providing I'm not spending the "Replay Phase" watching my men getting killed. Haha.
