  1. Don't get too cheeky Mike, remember what happened to Charles Stewart. Haha
  2. So that's where the term "Cowboy builders" comes from.
  3. These videos are certainly whetting the appetite.
  4. Great choice of camera angles, great editing, and clear commentary. Perfect video.
  5. I don't know how long after the original release I bought "Beyond Overlord" but, I don't remember seeing it here in Limeyland without the bonus disc. Sadly, it's been so long since I played it, and I don't even know if I still have my old score book, so I can't even tell you the name of any of the Dragoon battles. Hopefully someone can tell us.
  6. The term bocage means a heavily wooden countryside. As opposed to a type of hedgerow, as it is used in the game. It is not exclusive to Normandy, e.g there is a Villers - Bocage in the Somme Departement. There were some battles from Operation Dragoon included on the bonus disc that came with the original game "Beyond Overlord", 17 or 18 years ago. My fading memory seems to tell me that the terrain was more akin to that now used in Fortress Italy.
  7. Checking for balconies for should be second nature, same as checking the layout of windows, how many, and the position of doors etc.
  8. Oh, I like the howling wind when the weather is rotten.
  9. "Bugger Cinzano, I just want a pint of Mild and Bitter".
  10. Don't worry about your English, thanks for another fascinating photo.
  11. It certainly looks like a great map to die on, oops, an old habit, I meant fight on. Thanks for sharing these pics with us.
  12. Perhaps JPF wants Combat Mission to be something it isn't. Perhaps reading more about the game, and watching more of the AARs on youtube would come in handy.
  13. No, I didn't get the bit about strawberries either. Perhaps it's a language thing.
  14. About artillery - When setting up your missions you want your FO or HQ to be able to see as much of the target as possible. For example, when calling in a Linear mission you don't want only to see both ends of the line, you want to see most of it's length. And, most importantly, you wan't to be able as much of the surrounding area too, as has been mentioned in other threads. It can be frustrating, when spotting rounds go astray, e.g. land off map, in thick woodland, or even behind your spotter. But, that is a fair reflection of spotting problems in WW2, just cancel the mission, and move your FO or HQ to a better position.
  15. I'd be interested to see what you dig up c3K. Does Zaloga make use of the Bundesarkiv for his books?
  16. Interesting pair of pictures. Thanks for sharing them.
  17. "Don't shoot your comrades in the back, you dolt! Aim where I'm pointing."
  18. These Russian chaps may have been so right wing as to make me look like a lefty, but they did make pretty banners.
  19. "O.K. Corp, give 'im a P.I.A.T. round, then we can get ourselves a few bottles of Byrrh". "I'd prefer a bottle of Pelforth if it's all the same to you Sarg".
