Yesterday i wrote to BFC support if i could upgrade my Paradox boxed copy of CMSF 1 to CMSF 2. Problem was i purchased it years ago so i don't have any proof of purchase anymore. But I also bought two modules directly from BFC. I provided order no. of those purchases and today i received a new licence no. for CMSF 1. BFC assumed that since i bought two modules, i must have also purchased the base game, even if there's no way to verify that.
That is what i call an exemplary customer support.
    Thank you!
Now, off to the store to get me a CMSF 2😁

Sometimes customers have the greatest ideas... and sometimes not but either way a good business learns from them. Battlefront's track record speaks volumes on your ability to learn, adapt and create entertaining, interesting games that are a great value.
Shock Force was in a tough spot because far too much had changed to provide a one-size-fits-all $10 Upgrade like we had for the other games.  But we didn't want to make people pay for everything all over again, despite being justified in doing so (2 years of development ain't cheap, after all!).  Which is why we created the inexpensive special Upgrade options that are now available.
Based on our 10 yeas of experience doing it this way, it's our feeling that we got the balance of elements right.  Or at least right enough

CMSF2 is a clear example getting it right.

I've just released version 2.1 of CMx2 ScAnCaDe at CMMODS:
    http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?p=7766
In version 2.1, support of CMSF2 has been added.
NOTE: Only scenarios, QBs and campaigns created with CMSF2 are supported by ScAnCaDe. For unpacking of the older CMSF campaigns, I recommend to use another tool, see here:

I've been playing this since 2000, so I know how long it's been around.  Lots of excellent, long-term games on Steam.  DCS World, Squad, all of the Graviteam games, Battle Academy 1 and 2, Order of Battle, the Total War games, and my current favorite, Frostpunk, which cost me $22 CDN.  There's also the Civilization games, and the newer IL2 games, which are excellent.  Need I go on? I also love the Dirt games (Rally - $10, and Dirt 3, which was free on Steam) and Euro Truck 2 and ATS, which cost me a grand total of $36 with all DLC.  Picked up both FC3 and Black Shark 2 for $42 CDN in one of the sales last year.  Don't know if I'll live long enough to play them all!
Unfortunately for small developers, Steam has raised expectations on price and discounts.  I can't believe how many times in forums I've read that $19 is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!  Crazy.  Same argument goes on over at the Steel Beast forums, although they have come out with a much more palatable pricing format of late.  Battlefront releases excellent demos.  Graviteam and Eagle Dynamics moved to Steam...not sure how it's working out for them, but they can take advantage of the 'impulse buyers' like myself that seem to collect games just because they're on sale 😀  Do I play all these all the time?  No, don't have the free time with a wife and 2 kids.  Is this game worth it at the price?  If it's all you play, maybe.

    Hello,
I had pretty much given up on CM back in 2016 for various reasons and mostly lost interest in anything CM related as well. The announcment of CMSF2 has brought me back somewhat and, coincidentally, I am currently learning a new programming language. So I decided to write a little application I had wanted to write even way back then, which can extract scenarios from campaign files so you can look at them in the editor or edit them. Mad Mike's ScAnCaDe is a great tool for parsing scenario files, extracting campaigns and visualizing scenario and campaign metadata. However, it does not work with the 'legacy' CM games Shock Force 1 and Afghanistan. Also, who knows if Mad Mike is still around to update it anymore for future versions. He did a great job deciphering the various campaign file formats that have existed throughout CM's lifetime and much of what I did is based on his groundwork (which involves a lot of staring at hundreds of rows of bytecode and figuring out which bytes stand for which variables), so credit where credit is due. And while according to the devs you should be able to play any old campaign in CMSF2 out of the box, now you can also extract the scenario files from these campaigns and update them to the new engine standards, even if the original creators are now longer around.
I decided to focus on the extraction part and didn't bother with any of the metadata listing and visualizing. The tool should be able to extract any campaign file from any CM game so far and should also work with CMSF2 once it's released. I originally wanted to extract every bit of information required to also recompile the campaign from the extracted data without any further input, but that proved to be more difficult than I anticipated because some of that information is compressed or decrypted within the campaign files and I have not found a way yet how to extract that. This includes the campaign victory/loss texts and the complete core units and campaign briefing data. Maybe I will manage to add this at a later point. For now the scenario extraction works really well however, but I need some feedback from others. I don't have any CM games installed currently besides Shock Force and thus have only been able to  thorougly test the CMSF stock campaign as well as many campaigns downloaded from the Scenario Depot. So if anyone finds a campaign that does not work, make sure to post or send me the error log file that should be created. Usage of the application is as simple as it can be, just put the .exe file in a directory that contains any number of campaign files and start the executable.

LMFAO. He says, not realizing the irony of the statement, in which he is literally dictating the financial freedoms of BFC. Frankly, if you're too poor to afford a $60 game, then don't buy it. Get Shock Force, which is $15, or is that too expensive for you too?
No one cares about your whining, and BFC isn't going to change their prices based on your entitled opinion that you deserve the product of their labor at a price you determine.
Someone tag based Steve and burn this thread down. It's only getting worse from here.

You seem to have your mind made up. Not sure what you are looking for.  Typically when people give you reasons why something has value, you don’t argue with them why it doesn’t. You don’t have to accept their reasoning, but you don’t engage in a debate.
you liked CMSF..  no cmbs isn’t a different game engine, but unit capabilities etc are significantly different. Hell you have drones. You’ll have to make up your own mind but if playing the demo doesn’t convince you then what exactly are you looking for here that will?
help us to answer your doubts but most folks here bought it and likely own CMSF as well and will likely buy CMSF2 when it is released. It’s like asking a deadhead if you should collect every concert. They’ll just wonder why you are asking a question when it is so obvious the answer is of course.

Look into those groups and who's funding / supporting them - particularly the SDF
Its that sort of ignorant opinion and dismissal that's seen hundreds of thousands if not millions of people killed since 1991 in the name of democracy without any push back whatsoever.
Far more people have been "slaughtered" as you put it since Ghaddafi / Saddam were deposed than ever under their regimes.
That Arab spring in Libya was anything but a spontaneous revolt.
The UK I know for certain and I'm guessing by association the US and France where actively engaged with intelligence collection operations 6 months prior - well above the normal level including covert reconnaissance and I suspect co-ordination of various anti establishment groups.
The same sort of ignorant dismissal is found amongst the Islamic Fundamentalists - its questionable which is more dangerous and damaging.

The main reason to be skeptical about any possibility of war with a near peer (eg: Russia) is that even winning such a war runs a high probability of deteriorating one's own best forces.  What does one do then when a third near peer state (eg China or even N. Korea) start threatening the world?
China is already a larger threat to the west than Russia due to the failed theory that foreign business and investment would liberalize/democratize China, and now its massive grab for the entire S. China Sea through which the majority of the world's trade sails through.  Also what hasn't been widely reported is China's current attempt to seize a land corridor in Bhutan ("3 corners area") allowing is access to India and blocking India's access to the NE of its own country.

Analyzing the situation as above explains why it makes perfect sense for the US to be so concerned about massive rearmament asap.  But, it's doubtful that the US/West in currently in any position to do anything re foreign adventures/incursions etc.  So, can relax and be happy (for a while)...

I can't imagine a situation in 1945 where the Western Allies actually push Soviet forces back and drive on Warsaw.  With the scale of the forces arrayed against each other for both sides the most likely outcome in my opinion, for several months, would be a sort of shifting stalemate until one side or the other wore down enough to make a difference.  I doubt if the soldiers of either side would have had very much enthusiasm for fighting an entirely new war against a dangerous and veteran foe.  I think most soldiers from both sides were probably ready to go home happy that they survived as long as they did.
