  1. @RockinHarry, your English is far better than my Deutsch will ever be. As my native tongue, here are some copy edits for you to use as you see fit. Date: September 13, 1944, 16:45 hours local time. Location: Somewhere along the Siegfried line, western border, Germany. 1st Kompanie, 524 Training & Replacement Battalion occupies defensive positions within sector. Mission: Having hastily improved disrepair of local defenses, 1 Kompanie / 524 Bn to hold in place and prepare for relief by 9th Panzer Division. Friendly Forces: 1) 1st Kompanie, 524 T&E Bn. A unit of Volksgrenadier still in training composed of newly drafted men, re-convalescent veterans, and redeployed Luftwaffe support personnel. 2) Kampfgruppe "Metzler", 9th Panzer Division, en route to relieve in place 3) Stragglers, Pioneers & Engineers, withdrawing through local sector and departed this area Enemy Forces: Unknown elements, American Army advancing to the Fatherland Situation: You, Hauptmann Karl Kretzberg, command 1st Kompanie, 524 Training & Replacement Bn. You are concluding a small staff meeting at your command post. Discussion with subordinates focused on last measures by the company in sector, before a relieving force from Kampfgruppe "Metzler" of 9th Panzer Division arrives at 17:15 local time. Siegfried line sector fortifications are in disrepair. Your Training company arrived recently to find Fields of Fire neglected and overgrown. Barbed wire entanglements had been removed by local peasants. Wire communications were vandalized and are nonfunctional. 1/524 improved what they could with the time and resources available. Earlier today, an engineer unit of the last Wehrmacht force withdrawing from France helped block the road through your Dragon Teeth, since the steel gate is inoperable and cannot be closed. The engineers could not repair the gate. Instead, they blasted the passageway which created a large crater in the road to temporarily disrupt any enemy vehicle advance. The engineers hastily laid several anti-tank mines in the gap as well before proceeding towards the rear. Parts of 1st Kompanie have already departed per orders. A security detachment currently holds the bunkers under your command, awaiting relief from 9th Panzer. Reports from this engineer unit indicated that US forces were following closely but cautiously behind. Advancing enemy detachments are not expected to arrive before dusk in 30 minutes, at which time the 9th Panzer should be in place and their defenses ready. Now, you and your remaining unit leaders, suddenly hear the sound American artillery falling nearby.
  2. 1) "Scenario Depot III" landing page (TSDIII) no longer has hyperlinks to TPGII or CMODSIII. Is that intentional? 2) Picking a nit, the "Comments" avatars seems silly to me. Would prefer you dispense. IMO, goofy cartoon faces just don't suit wargaming feedback. Clearly you are watching too much telly with your toddler when not doing yoeman's work on your websites . . .
  3. Great idea, Bil. That is the perfect place of record. Kudos, SLIM! An accomplishment of high praise indeed.
  4. @Bootie, I like the direction taken. Integrating the look of both sites is nice. 1) TPGII. It appears that the hyperlink is not yet active for "please do leave feedback by filling in THIS form and sending it to the scenario designer upon completion of your playtest". Is that correct? 2) TSDII. If the scenario comments posted regarding "Le Noyer" are indicative, I opine that you may have taken on the unenviable chore for a serious and regular site moderator. I am no fan of censorship, but neither do I wish to forebear "ad homenim" trolls denigrating scenario writers anywhere in the BFC community. Thank you for your own considerable efforts.
  5. I like the direction taken. Don't think you need to provide so much real estate per game. Consider a 2x3 matrix with just the game graphic. CMBN - CMFI - CMRT CMSF - CMA - CMBS Less scrolling (always optimal) for site visitors. Also, only Black Sea, Red Thunder, and Normandy hyperlinks appear active. No "jump" occurs for Italy, Afghanistan, nor Shock Force. Thank you for your efforts.
  6. or download a "freebie' from amazon.com (typically no longer under author copyright or a publisher's promotion).
  7. @SLIM, Kudos. Very nice in both intent and execution. My feedback matches Bil's: 1) Explain what you want them to learn 2) Show them what you just explained 3) Summarize what they saw, focusing on lessons to learn That will prepare your audience for what to expect and where to pay attention. Additional thoughts, 1) Consider some kind of TTP standard opening page with reference the Army FM number(s) for this lesson, especially if WW2 FM's used. 2) Consider same kind of TTP standard closing page with mention of / credit to CMBN Mod's used. I look forward to more of these. Thank you.
  8. My experience has been positive but I'm not as serious a military bibliophile as many others on the Forums. Kindle often offers worthwhile military history "freebies" as well at the Amazon Store. I can't speak to regional locks. I've never encountered them.
  9. That's the challenge of web design. The webmaster is so immersed in it, he's bent on tweaking long and often to avoid bland thinking and insipid pages. The web-surfers, however, want clear consistency and speedy access. Given Bootie's continuous yeoman efforts for The Few Good Men and the BFC community at large as well as his personal costs for web services, I have no doubt that things will evolve to good outcomes. I think all feedback receives serious deliberation. I know a topnotch end result is desired. I look forward to what's in store. Thank you both for your contributions on our behalf.
  10. "Pop smoke" button - likely the most forgotten, overlooked, and under utilized squad resource available in the game, especially within urban areas! Concealment is good. Fine advice, Combatintman. Thank you.
  11. You're both right in different ways. As Bootie says, all 15 scenarios are there. As LukeFF found, they don't all present themselves the same way. On top, is "big" picture of newest scenario showing it's upload date. Below that appears a 2 x 4 matrix of the next 8 without dates. Beneath them is a vertical column of all remaining scenarios (6 in this case) older than the previous 9. It pictures newest on top to oldest on bottom. There's the forest and then there's the trees . . . . Its all good!
  12. Go for Galloway Girls! "Her hair was black and her eyes were blue. Now I ask you friends, what's a man to do?"
  13. I opine that your reworked v2.2 changes produced a mighty fine scenario. It is a challenging situation which brutally punishes bad tactics and eventually awards good ones. Creative use of demolitions teams is well rewarded. I expect to post feedback for it at TPG later this week. Thank you for creating "Pierrefitte-en-Cinglais" and putting it out for the rest of us. Anyone else looking for a good solo game should try it.
  14. I regret to have caused disappointment by my feedback. That was not my intent. It did allow you to discover the CMBN v3 bug with CMBN v2 TOE which contributed to most of the flaws found. Please know that your reworked v2.2 changes produced a mighty fine scenario. It is a challenging situation which brutally punishes bad tactics and eventually awards good ones. Creative use of combat engineers is well rewarded. I expect to post feedback for it at TPG later this week. Thank you for creating "Pierrefitte-en-Cinglais" and putting it out for the rest of us. Anyone else looking for a good solo game should try it.
  15. I''ll take $20 worth of your freshest batch so I can hand some out free to the audience hereabouts. So, questions with regard to no effect for glare, shadows, lighting, etc., Is this AI only? Is there no effect H2H? Do contacts icons appears regardless of these visibility factors? Thanks!
  16. Brilliant! That would make "Drop Team" . . . . priceless & rare!!!
  17. Consider posting at The Proving Grounds for play testing as well. "Upload a file for testing" tab at top of URL = http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tpg2/
  18. @Womble and @Pak40, Help me understand why you think the process between a voice spotter and radio spotter should differ in duration? In each case the battery does not see the target. A Fire Director (Fire Direction Center) must plot the trajectory, then calculate deflection, elevation, and charge. After which a single gun crew must correctly apply those calculations to the tubes and mortar rounds. The "shooters" are always blind in both cases. The spotter calls for adjustments which the FDC recalculates and communicates for each subsequent round until hitting the target. "Target. Fire for Effect" requires the remaining battery guns/tubes to apply the successful deflection and elevation for those sights and set the correct charge on all the rounds to fire. It's the same procedure whether initiated by voice, telephone, or radio.
  19. One has to wonder how many hours (and broken wine glasses) that particular tank crew dedicated to perfecting this dog and pony show! But to John's point, that is a pretty impressive gun platform stabilization demonstration. It seems that I've gotten far behind in my studies in modern tank design. What is the impetuous behind the sophisticated hydraulics required for this kind of performance? I well understand the desirability of stabilizing the gun platform. I don't understand the cost-benefits for the suspension's multi-axial tilt capabilities.
  20. Consider posting to The Proving Grounds at URL = http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tpg2/ The "Upload A File for Testing" option is on the top menu bar. It will take you to the place where you can upload your test scenario at URL = http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tpg2/upload-a-file-for-testing/ This should broaden your exposure to other regular testers. Thank you for your efforts. Good luck and good gaming!
  21. @Bil, do you want comments here or there (on your blog)?

  23. Take a look at these posts and see if they help. Welcome to CMBN. Good luck and good gaming!
  24. Fine by me as long as you make of them sound tactical exercises. There are many situations where battles didn't quite happen. There are many tactical problems worth trying to solve. I just ask that you make each scenario worth playing; a plausible situation where victory is honestly won or defeat is well deserved. Kudos to you for wanting to give this a go. Thank you.
