Need weapon retreiving abstraction
Magpie_Oz replied to Vinnart's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
I guess you could get the team that doesn't have a SAW to go and do the retrieval? You could also run into the problem where a squad ends up picking up numerous weapons from the battlefield, take an extreme case you might end up with a squad that picks up a whole heap of "superior" SMAAW's and then find it cannot defend itself as it has no small arms. Maybe something like this could be good but the amount of coding to make it workable might be prohibitive? -
Are you allowed to preview other companies games on the BF Forums ?
-
Yeh I tend to agree, I also think that a field strewn with the dead would take the shine of the game for me. Put it in I guess but let me toggle it off, if for no other reason than slowing down the game because of all the extra detail.

So who is the idiot? the Idiot in charge or the idiot who put the idiot in charge ?

Engineers vs Hedgehogs
Magpie_Oz replied to gunnersman's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I would suggest listening closely to advice on hedgehogs given by a Womble, more or less the same thing. -

What facts? We do nothing with shrimps, that is just a translation so Seppos don't get all confused when we say Prawn.

Inbred ? While it may be normal for a Southern Good Ol' Baw to have a furry arse, despite all our alchohlic and unlawful past, it is considered a severe deformity in the land of Oz and none of us under any circumstances would kiss one.

Oh man! We need PBEMH style support!
Magpie_Oz replied to GreenAsJade's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Open windows Explorer and right click on "Libraries". New -> Library Create a new library , I call mine CMSF. Right click on the CMSF (CMBN or whatever you called it) Library and the go to "Include Folder" and add the folders that you want to have in the list. This gives you quick access to each folder (Incoming Email and Outgoing Email) and also you can see all of the files within in one view. To my mind this is the best new feature in Win 7, I use it a lot for work where you can easily find files within a complex folder system. I can have a project folder with a whole heap of sub-folders for each job that contains more sub folders for PDF, DOC and Autocad etc files. In the library list I can set it up so I list my files by type or job etc. -
LOL and so after months of debate in regards of the graphics in the new game we see finally what is really important to we sorry few !

Oh man! We need PBEMH style support!
Magpie_Oz replied to GreenAsJade's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I really don't find it all that hard, I use the Win7 Library thing like pixie and then upload through Skydrive. What I could do too is synchronise the outgoing email folder to a Skydrive folder but I prefer to have more control over it that that. I have also set CMSF to be the default program that opens *.ema files but it only opens the program it will not autoload the game. -
Combat Mission feature missing
Magpie_Oz replied to jonp's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Are the Pixeltruppen smart enough to hide in the best cover in a tile? E.g. crawl into a dip rather than stand in the open Are they even smarter still and will move a tile either way to better cover? E.g. stand in the middle of the road or move off it into the drain ? -
Go thru the gate ? The farmer will be much happier

Perhaps the real question is "Why did I spend anything more than tuppence on a Mac "

Track Damage from Terrain
Magpie_Oz replied to eniced73's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I think it is also an example of cumulative track damage? You lost some centre guides on one thing which weakened the track so had you done a similar thing again it might have shed the track easier because of the previous damage? -
Real-time and pause are sort of contradictory and mutually exclusive aren't they? So it is No for me

improvements carry over from CMBN?
Magpie_Oz replied to MikeGER's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
-sigh- well I still pine for a game that I buy initially and then upgrade it as the years go by, rather than having to wait 5? 10? 15? years until the next evolution of CM:SF comes about which is what I really think how long we will be waiting -
So what's the plan for other titles??
Magpie_Oz replied to Capt Cliff's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
AHEM ! "Colonial Minors" ? WTF is that supposed to mean? 1,000,000 Australians, 2,500,000 Indians, 200,000 New Zealanders and 300,000 South Africans is hardly "minor". -
Well at the risk of things turning political I do wonder if the Iranians would be silly enough to threaten firing missiles at the United States given the response they would get to an unprovoked attack. On the other hand of course one could point out that the stationing of a mere 19 missiles within range of the United States could be just a means of deterring an American strike on Iran itself, particularly when you consider that there are hundreds of cruise missiles arrayed around their country day and night on board the US 5th Fleet.

This is an Ozzie site, might be worth asking them if they will export if you are keen http://www.justworkwear.com.au/MONGREL-Boots-Black-Elastic-Sided-Boot-240011-p/mongrel-boots-240011.htm

Track Damage from Terrain
Magpie_Oz replied to eniced73's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I've seen bulldozers shed a track if you are try too hard to get over uneven terrain. maybe the "yellowing" is a mechanism to represent the ruggedness of the Bocage that might lead to a shed track ? -
A Couple of Mapmaking Questions
Magpie_Oz replied to Rake's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
A question I did ask once before I think but is there a way to actually write the file itself, I mean is a map file a matrix of terrain values of something like that? I am asking as I do a lot of vector mapping and it would be a snap to do heaps of maps really quickly if there was a way to convert my vector maps into Combat Mission Maps. -
So now you just walk down the hill and f /censor/ deep and meaningful relationship based on commitment and mutual respect /censor/ them all ?

Just a small thread of gratitude
Magpie_Oz replied to Eagle2's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I wept the day I found Combat Mission 11 years ago, as I knew I had finally found what I had been looking for. Nothing since that time has changed my opinion. Well done lads.
