AkumaSD reacted to Nidan1 in ISIS vs Iraqi Army in Ramadi
Now John, is this topic really valid for the CMSF Forum?

I have a link to a story on how Doctors at the Mayo Clinic are using re-engineered AIDS virus cells to kill Leukemia cells in children and adults, with a 90% full remission rate. This story is far more uplifting and shows how hard we are working to alleviate human suffering, while ISIS continues to ravage the Middle East in its attempt to turn back the clock 800 years.

    Which would you rather read?

This is a game forum not a world events forum, John please learn the difference.

Well, that whole statement is, to borrow a phrase, deeply hypocritical.

"Good" Arab countries - what does that even mean? The ones that'll meekly do your bidding? The ones that'll provide resources at rock bottom prices? The ones that'll shaft their own population in order to get a cut of the profits made from allowing multinationals to run amok without regulation?

You're just playing this for the lulz, right?

CMSF Tutotrial on how to assault a building:

    http://community.battlefront.com/topic/82077-assaulting-a-building-fierce-and-agille/

The same things still apply to CMBS.

A few thoughts on you post:

If possible, dont enter a building you expect to be filled with bad guys. My tactic for taking a building i expect to be occupied is to first recon by fire. A 3 man infantry team gets an order to fire a Target Briefly mission for 30 secs and then, if anything fires back, i hit the building with something HE-ish. A few bursts of 30mm will do the job nicely. In general it's a good idea to properly prepare buildings with 30mm if you want to assault them. Then i send in my guys to check out the corpses. If that is not an option, i order at least a platoon of infantry to fire a Target Light mission on the whole building i want to occupy. Then i send in an assault team (you can split the team off the squad using the Assault button under the Administrative tab). The assault team gets the oder to enter the room and then immediatly supress the adjunct room with a 30 secs Target Briefly order. This is to make sure that anything in the adjunct room is immedialtly supressed and/or killed. For maneuvering inside a building i usually use 2 assault teams with quick commands and 15-30 second pauses between each move. It takes a bit of exercise to get the timings for a proper bounding overwatch right, but it it is possible and it works well for me. The most important thing is though to ensure that at all times there is a significant overwatch element outside the building that can immediatley kill any ambushers your assault teams might run into .

Also, i dont use smoke when in am assaulting a building. The reason is that the smoke will obscure the view of the overwatch elements and my assault team will be on its own once it has entered the building, and that is pretty much a death sentence if they run into an ambush. I also dont use the hunt command in buildings for the reason you mentioned in your post.

    EDIT:
Human opponents will make excessive use of short covered arcs and ambushes in MOUT terrain, a tactic at which the AI isnt particularily good at. I also agreee with c3ks line:

You WILL lose men in MOUT. No competent enemy will let anything else happen. Since there interior of buildings are abstracted, you should expect enemy to survive your cover fire/grenading when you enter. So, even if you follow the procedures I've written, men will die. This just minimizes it. Hopefully.

You will lose men in MOUT. There is no way around it. Dont be bothered too much by casualties, as long as you complete the mission, you have done a good job.

    EDIT2:

On a side note, due to beeing fully equipped with modern body armor, US & Russian infantry in CMBS is much more resistent to 20-30mm HE than the Syrian infantry in CMSF. You should keep that in mind when preparing a building for an assault.

Sorry if this was already posted but I did not have time to look through all 60 pages.  Apparently during that "Dog and Pony" show a T-14 crapped out and needed to be towed away.

Instead of (again) being a troll, at least play the game with the new patch when it comes out for a couple of days before making a comment like that.

The forum has rules.  Please familiarise yourself with them.  The abusive personalities section might interest you most:

    7. Baiter - someone who purposefully goads another Member into a violation. People who make a habit of trying to needle someone into doing something they ordinarily wouldn't do are a detriment to the sense of community and therefore will be held accountable for their actions. That being said, Members are still responsible for how they respond to a Baiter, therefore it is possible that both parties will find themselves banned (though perhaps for different durations).

AkumaSD reacted to sburke in How much would you pay for an improved AI upgrade
The description above is an interesting glance at just the most rudimentary AI and essentially not far removed from what is already in the QB AI configuration, but then look at how the suggestion breaks down unit "types". In only the most rudimentary form does that exist now. Vehicles and infantry. The suggestion is first to create group types that do not exist and then assign patterns of behavior to them. BF's programmers are not lazy. Take a look at the effort to introduce UAVs. It is cool they are in, but there is a lot given up in their implementation that runs counter to most everything else in CM. Adding different unit types and behavior and then applying AI behavior specific is far from simplistic. Just the work to alter AT and Inf gun behavior has been a difficult process and they still do not function at all in an attack formation, just one of the many weaknesses in QB behavior.

Anyone who thinks that this effort to produce even an incrementally better AI wouldn't bankrupt BF is just not facing reality. BF is not going to go years without income to add something that from what little the poll shows wouldnt even net the same amount as a base game for a new family.

Contrary to expectations, the BF team does have their own bills to pay, expenses of raising families etc etc. Our wish lists are not ever going to trump that.

AkumaSD reacted to agusto in Is it possible to do a CPU vs CPU battle?
helloheywhatsnew, according to several polls we had over the past couple of years, the average age of the community is approximately 40 years. Also this:

is by far the most agressive and disrespectful comment anyone in this thread has made yet. It is disrespectful because it generally devalueates the opinions of all people older than you as crap and it incorrectly makes the generalized assumption that people older than you are incapable of keeping pace with technological developments. Furthermore you seem to confuse your own personal taste with knowledge, disproportionally even calling it "education" to tell people what you think they should like. I am genuinely sorry that you have MS, but trying to invoke pity in order to discourage people from stateing opinions that disagree with yours is quite a dishonourable and weak rethorical tactic.

Basically that is why i dont think it would be interesting (or, with other words, not worth the effort it would take to implement the feature). You can just take a look at the AI plans in the editor if you want to how it works and reacts. But watching a scripted AI fight itself is really just like c3k said it: two blind men with bulldozers fighting eachother.
