Been done before - I'm sure there's a meme/quote about studying history and learning from it ...

Combatintman got a reaction from Lethaface in How the Iraqi Republican Guard serves as a good proxy for how the East German Army could have performed in a hypothetical '89 module.
Disagree entirely - as we're seeing in the current Ukraine unpleasantness, analysts who focus on quantitative data come up short. The NVA would have brought a better ability to command and coordinate high tempo manoeuvre operations to the party. The Iraqis certainly never did much of that in the mainly positional conflict with Iran or in any other conflict since then.

And used a woodshed for cover ....
Anyway - it would appear that CM's spotting model for Russian tanks is bang on the money and not nerfed as many, who have disappeared from the forums in the last fortnight, have been alleging.

Bit of quick and dirty Google Earth imagery analysis with plots of the MRLs, the fire and two of the vehicle groups attached.

It may connote very sleepy, or very afraid of friendly-fire. Or, a combination of the two.

Combatintman got a reaction from CMFDR in Free Whisky Video AAR
Great video mate - I rarely get further than 5 minutes into these but yours drew me in with a succinct explanation of the ground, objectives and plan. You followed up during execute with some great vignettes of the battle which were easy to place within the overall situation and some great cinematography. All in under half an hour - definitely one of the best video AARs I've seen - have a like.

I agree with this. Unless you personally feel that you neccesarely have to use the stock templates for briefing graphics...Forgett about it ! nobody else cares if you are using your own graphics in the briefing maps, pictures etc...
As long as they provide the neccesary information.
Personally i have never used anything other then windows paint when designing these map...Never had a complaint so far...

I can't find previous similar posts I've made on the various threads of this nature over the years but every time somebody mentions this I say something along the lines of - forget pi$$ing about in Photoshop or anything like that. PowerPoint and Paint do it for me - see below for examples of graphics produced using this method across three CM game titles:

Combatintman got a reaction from A Canadian Cat in Time to dig in?
Beaten to it - but FWIW here's what a US pamphlet has to say about it:
Further to @The_Capt's point about sandbags - you've also got to fill the damn things in the first place.
Digging in is epic - of course if you really want to know ... get a shovel out and dig a hole in your back garden.
The full manual that the image comes from, for those that want to know the nuances of the various described positions is here:
