    The weathered vehicles really do give a better sense of how vehicles actually look in the field. The best part is you don't have to clean them with the rest of the gear when back at base
     
    All gives more atmosphere to the game. Everything looks great Kieme! Thinking you should change your display name to "Modding Madman Machine"

    A quick and simple mod dedicated to russian uniforms.
    I kept the base files but changed the saturation of the colors and corrected a bug about missing texture near the top shoulders.

    Another try, this time I also added one layer of light brownish mud on the lower parts, 1 layer of frsh mud sprinkles and 1 layer of small rusty scratches all over the vehicle.
     
    I also started experimenting with the normal maps on vehicles, and forcing them to be a bit extreme you can effectively perceive the difference in game... standard normal maps are quite "conservative" so to say, if you make them deeper and enhance the effect you can get quite strong results...

    Modding vehicles takes a lot of time, because each must be tailored with care.
     
    BTR, if you release a mod of yours I might try to add weathering, unless you do some already. Because I personally like the effect on CM vehicles.
     
     
    First attempt on a T-64BV, very few layers, just some rain stains and light dusts. 
     
    What's your opinion? Should the vehicles display more weathering? less weathering? What kind of?

    My first try at a mod. I have long wanted updated fire support and air support radio chatter and so I took it upon myself to try out a mod.  It's nothing too fancy but it does change it up a bit.

    Finally working on this mod. Was delayed due to holding up the CMBS release date doing textures.
     
    It has turned out to be a full rebuild of the CMSF version, due to different sized tiles, and also due to my finding that I couldn't understand my own mod without the reference sheet. *FAIL*
    I have all the vehicle tiles done in bglow and plain-bglow, so I'll put them up for review - hopefully to find any necessary corrections before I generate all the other versions. (In the mean time I'm working on the gun silhouettes.)
     
    All values are estimates. My estimates may vary from yours ( or BFC's ).
     
    Armour estimates used where data is unavailable:
    Turret side = Turret front / 2.5
    Hull side = Glacis / 3
    Lower Hull front = Glacis / 2
    1st gen ERA = +250mm CE  +100mm KE
    2nd gen ERA = +400mm CE  +200mm KE
    3rd gen ERA = +600mm CE  +300mm KE
    Bar armour = +150mm CE

    Kieme CMBS modular roofs pt. 1 mod
     
    After a test I noticed that doubling the resolution was not giving much visual impact, that's why I decided to go with the standard definition version, therefore this mod does not affect game performance.
    I will surely make a standard definition version for the modular buildings mod too as soon as the roofs are finished.
    This mod covers the "high angle" roofs in game, lower angle ones will come in part 2 (flat roofs covered by buildings mod already)

    Thanks Fizou. I double checked and I missed the gathering the AK74 with grenade launcher, and one of the RPG yellows from their perspective weapon folders in the game. I will change the file in post #1 with the corrections. Also the mod will be part of the "Easy Vis UI" package, so I am glad those was caught before I upload that one. Beyond that I am not seeing any other errors. Are there anymore?
     
    One thing I can say is this new forum attachment capability works great in being able to swap out files. Also, better to find and fix errors here rather than after posting to repository. Sorry for the errors, but the pros do it too. That is why there is not just one beta version when going through development. Even after the final version I found an error with one of the Russian weapon "yellows". I fixed it in my mod, but those who do not have the mod will find one of the 'yellows' to be a bright orange rather than the muted shade the developers decided to go with. There are MANY files in this game, and it is easy to miss something.

    I'm pleased to release my floating icons for CM Black Sea. You may download the file here until the repository is available.  This mod replaces the default floating icons in Combat Mission: Black Sea (CMBS).  These new stylized icons are based on the U.S. Department of Defense Interface Standard (MIL-STD-2525C) and supplemented with NATO’s Military Symbols for Land Based Systems.  The icons have a slightly three-dimensional appearance so that they look like counters from traditional board-based war games.  And, when the icon blinks (i.e., the unit is selected or wounded), the unit’s national flag is displayed. Pretty cool!

    I'm not sure about this.  I think the 2D editor allows for better editing of very large maps.
     
     
    Yes, there's an automatic road helper.  You just click the button (looks like a diagonal, two-ended arrow) and then click your two endpoints.  We fill in the road between.  It's not perfect but it helps.

    It's an interesting idea.  I can't imagine how it would work, though.

    Important !!! this mod does not change any file of the game, it simply ADDs 4 new modular buildings types you can choose from the editor while making a completely new map.

    -the roll up doors in building no.12 do not work in game, they are just aesthetics
    -the windows seen on middle facades of buildings 9 and 10 don't work in game, but you can use the long windows + balconies) to match the facade and make it servicable -and yet visually pleasant- in game, see this example:

    To illustrate waclaw's response a little bit more succinctly, if you say, have a brz or folder named "waclaw's Sounds" and one named "akd's sounds", the one that is furthest down the alphabet chain takes precedent. The game reads the folders/ brz files sequentially. So, whatever files waclaw has that are duplicates of akd's will overwrite akd's because "w" (waclaw) is further down the alphabet chain than "a" (akd). If waclaw only has one sound for a 50. cal and akd has three, waclaw's 50. cal will only overwrite the files that have the same exact name. The beauty of CMX2 sounds (at least as far as weapons effects go) is that it isn't an all or nothing deal. If you like all of akd's stuff and all of waclaw's stuff you could just rename all of the files to play together. In the example above he showed the m4 gun 5 0, m4 gun 5 1, well, you could just rename all of them sequentially and use both mods together if you wanted (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.). Or pick the best of each. It's set up to be definable by taste. As an example; my old CMSF sound files are a mix of every single sound mod that was ever released for the title.

    some sounds will be replaced, while others will be mirrored - it is best to simply replace by "copy paste"   I give this example   AKD has marked sounds     "m4 gun 5 0" "m4 gun 5 1"   I have   "m4 gun 5 0" "m4 gun 5 1" "m4 gun 5 2" "m4 gun 5 3"     when will m4 rifle shots - the game will start my sounds and AKD - will sound terrible   Saferight   thanks a lot - immodestly write that it worked out great;)

    Yep. I knew what you meant. My point was if you'd seen those movies enough those particular files would probably draw your ear. The second you hear the wav you are gonna go "Hey, that was such and such, from such and such movie, the scene where this and that happens" which in my opinion would take you out of the moment. The other problem would be getting clean versions without music and movie sounds being part of the clip.  And then there's the recording quality compared to other files. Mine, for example, aren't as clean sounding as some clips taken from other games. Like I said, it's all personal preference—what your ears enjoy. Someone could give it a try and see how well it sounds. Madmatt did an SPR mod for CMBO and it was so-so because of a lot of what I listed.
