  1. Not sure of 'intimidation factor' for infantry if they observe AFVs, but at least halftracks and other lighter vehicles will try to smoke and reverse if they spot an enemy tank. Tanks in decent positions and with proper infantry support aren't easy at all for infantry to come close to. Infantry close attacking tanks only really works good if the tanks are close to or inside complex terrain (for example in urban environment or in a forest), or if there is a covered route for the infantry available to get close to the tanks. Infantry close attacking armor with grenades are a bit abstracted, as they don't model individual AT-grenades / grenade bundles / etc whatever regular infantry might be carrying; all are displayed as 'grenades'. Pz Schrecks / bazooka's, fausts etc are more dangerous imo, as they don't require your infantry to move real close to the enemy tank.
  2. If he can't see your file, he's probably on a different version. (It's all good that the first file exchanged is password only, no problems there).
  3. I just copy/pasted the links to the images and saw them in another browser tab. The night blast is quite nice looking, think I gave the like. However I tried them again now and one of the links seem broken (the first is now image unvailable, second is the night blast). It seems the [img] tags are not working for some reason. Do they need to be in CAPITAL? or perhaps the way to embed images has changed?
  4. My schedule is a bit full atm, but http://thefewgoodmen.com should give you plenty of mp games
  5. US still retains plenty of tanks in the Army. The UK probably has funding issues with two new supercarriers among other political endeavors, while their direct security situation doesn't really need tanks. Who's going to invade the ol' Island anyway? The 1st EU Army with operation Sealion 2 and Merkel leading the Leopard 3's? Lol I guess the wars.operations the Marines or British expect/wish to participate in don't require capabilities that favor tanks perse.
  6. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/15_cm_sIG_33 Says there was a 'Hollow Charge' round.
  7. Lol, it seems that you have been waking up on the wrong side of the bed for quite some time. I just called your dropbox idea lame because it won't work the way you explained it, while the tone you were giving the advice was such that it was lame on BFC side not to implement your idea. Don't know why you are combining this with bad rep of BFC or whatever forum. I'm a regular on this forum, I don't see it as a bad forum or bad rep or whatever. Guess my glass is a bit more half full. And with all respect, don't see what your family setting up some stuff on their phone has to do with all of this. BFC could probably setup some site where people can upload stuff. However, I don't see the reason for getting all worked up about it if they haven't. Plus your dropbox advice wouldn't even work to begin with. Chill out, weekend is near!
  8. And another thing I thought of, did you install the 2.04 patch? Not sure if that makes a difference, but I did install it.
  9. Strange.. Some more ideas, just speculating: * Do you have the British module activated? * Try removing other campaigns from the folder and see if they also get removed from the game, just to make sure that folder is actually also the folder where the game looks for it's campaigns. Other than that I wouldn't know what it could be. The only thing I did different is that I chose to overwrite the old .cam file. But as file replacement is on OS level, that shouldn't be of any influence to CM: it just sees the files that are there at that moment.
  10. Perhaps a corrupt download? If the other campaigns in that folder work, I'd try to download again. I did same as you and worked fine.
  11. Strange, worked for me. Could it be you also have steam version installed? Not sure where that get's its scenario's etc from, but probably in the /steamapps folder somwhere.
  12. Place them in the /documents/battlefront/combat mission/CMSF2/game files/campaigns/ folder. Did a quick test and worked for me.
  13. Thanks! That beta is indeed the one I have installed. I did like the H&E sounds and recently stumbled on you mentioning the separate standalone sounscape mod somewhere. AKDSM is indeed also a nice mod, that was the one I used with CMSF1 iirc and still have it installed for some WW2 games (the Z_BASE_AKDSM variant). I did a quick compare recently between some soundmods recently and thought the Soundscape one is the best overall. The HQS sounds are nice, but mainly / only when zoomed in on my system. There seems to be little difference between sounds depending on the range. Plus in a firefight with a couple of platoons exchanging shots, there is not much to distinguish anymore at all. While imo the dyanmic range, bullet snaps, etc, gives a lot of immersion. Perhaps even more with a 5.1 system. The sound in the youtube link of Wikkheiser are great too indeed! I'll have another look at AKDSM with all the options. One thing that I'll have to compromise is that I really enjoy Mords vehicle chatter mod, but those are based off the vanilla vehicle sounds. So either I'll lose the vehicle chatter, or the modded vehicle sounds. Anyway, thanks for the great effort!
  14. Free for several GBs, so 35mb won't make a dent in it. Plus what you suggest isn't even possible afaik, they'd have to indiviually share that folder with every user, who would need to have a dropbox acount anyway to begin wit, to be able to upload something in it. So, your suggestion is a bit lame.
  15. From the readme: A zip file containing * Scenario loading screen mod, showing the front line in North West Europe on a day-by-day basis from 6 June through to the end of September * Topographical maps and aerial photos for scenarios, used for the creation of the scenarios in Battle Pack 1, and usable as planning tools while playing * PDF copy of The story of the 23rd Hussars, 1940-1946 unit history The .brz goes into mods or /data/Z folder. The map overlays can be used with the editor I think, but never tried such things. There is also a blank map (.btt)which can be used in the editor (put anywhere in /scenario's or /qb's I guess). The .kmz file is something for Google Earth I just found out. The .zip file is called The Great Swan BP1 extras. The download link in the readme doesn't seem to work anymore though.
  16. BTW I recently found your sound mod (also included in H&E I think?) and really enjoying it! It's now my default soundmod for CMSF2. Other soudmods are often much too loud on my 5.1 and or don't scale for larger battles.
  17. Nice threat indeed. I always liked to play risk and stratego when I was a kid (although even for that it was hard to find opponents willing to play more than once ). Was also intrigued by board wargames, especially with toy soldiers and cannons etc, on a large table. But in the end never really played board wargame stuff, instead I bought C&C for a bloody hefty 50 (?) guilders back in the day (I must have been around 14 years old or so). Must have picked up quite some empty beercrates at the backdoor of the supermarket only to bring them in again for the deposit I do still play boardgames with family sometimes, but I think it will be difficult to convince them into playing a wargame especially if there are such complex rules (probably I was too fanatic with Risk when I was young hehe). My younger brother was more successful in luring the family into his dragon / monster table top games. Those also work with cards and some dices for attacks iirc. I do enjoy the social aspect of boardgames with family/friends. Some of the games posted here look quite interesting, but don't really see myself having the time and or energy to pick something like this up for solo play. Especially with all the CMx2 battles I still plan to play along with a vast steam library full of barely played games. Personally still have much fun with CM and probably because I've never played those older games can't seem to grasp why people would prefer hex grids etc. However, each to his own and I recently came across this announced Micropose title, 'Second Front'. The gameplay seemed quite deep and interesting to me (even though hexes), thought it might be to your liking based on your post.
  18. No specialist but know a little / looked a few sources up. During the war many cattle and grassland was converted into crops to become self sufficient. Grain is currently mostly (winter)wheat, presumably not much different back then. During the war I read there were a lot of potatoes and various vegetables ( beets, cabbages, sprouts, etc). There is a lot of maize now, not sure back then. I did read about rapeseed being subsidized during the war as a crop because some fats could be gained from it.
  19. I sure have observed such behavior recently, although not 100% sure since the latest patch. During a CMFI PBEM I brought back scout teams to another Plt HQ upon which they shared their spotting contacts. I did get a few glitches with c2 icons disappearing and reappearing in CMFI:R2V, when c2 sharing is taking place. But that would even lead a unit who had the contact icon losing it again, until the spotter moved from it's place and broke LOS at which point it would share it. I probably should have made a report on it, but it was a very vague thing to even describe. I might have made a save of it though somewhere.
  20. Me thinks too. @Erwin if what you describe is indeed not a coincidence in a particular situation, but more general I think indeed something isn't right. Haven't checked it myself or have much time to check. But a save from where someone just has to advance turns is a good way to start a case which someone can pickup from.
  21. I think Bulletpoint is right, although close c2 means that they will also share spotting contacts with the sniper team.
