  1. Juju's work is good, but I wouldn't want it to be the default UI graphics for the game.
  2. Where did Battlefront read that the M1891/30 was also called the M1930? All of the original Russian documentation I have seen and read (and the scope on my PU sniper) calls it either the 91/30 or 1891/30. I have never, ever heard of it being called the M1930.
  3. Yep, sounds about right. The shell they were using looked like a very large blank, so naturally all of that propellant is going to be vented out of the gun differently than a normal shell would.
  4. Very nice to see the way the player can call multiple artillery assets now with the Shift-Click method.
  5. Doubtful, since the 3D model in CMFI is different.
  6. Believed to be the only live-firing Pak40 in the U.S. Awesome!
  7. That's what I'm trying to do this time around. So far my plan has been working OK this third time around, but I've still a long ways to go.
  8. If that was the case, it would never have been modeled for CMx1.
  9. First off, the audio files CMx2 uses are hardly taxing on even low-end computers. We're talking about very small audio files here that the game is using. Secondly, players shouldn't have to add to the game (varying weapon sounds) what BF should be adding to the game themselves. The audio files are already there, so it boggles me why BF is content to have every rifle and every SMG sound the same.
  10. Something that, by its inherent design, has very little or no lasting value to the consumer.
  11. We could have further increased draw distances even now, but there's this subset of people here that would complain that their 7-year old desktop or laptop would not be able to run the game any more.
  12. Thanks, benpark. I'd appreciate that. I don't think the map is a puzzle, for sure, but it seems like certain routes are absolute no-gos if the player wants to keep their infantry in order. ***SPOILERS*** My last attempt was to try to ford the river on the left-hand side. I made it to the crossing OK, but as soon as I got there some of my men were chopped up by a 2cm flakvierling. Still, I was able to get my men into the vineyards, where they were met by an MG42 HMG that is sited on a reverse slope adjacent to the monastery. At the this same time, what I thought was the flakvierling responsible for killing my men was finally spotted, and so I took it out with my mortars. That's when I found out there was a second flak gun overlooking the ford, and that took out my Stuart. All the while, I got some men to the top of hill adjacent to the Samnite Tombs, only to find there was an MG42 and a bunch of other infantry waiting there. Oh, and all the while my men were being chipped apart by mortar and infantry gun fire. It was at that point I realized that plan was not gonna work.
  13. Of course they can, and they've always been able to do that in CMx2.
  14. Too much of a gimmick, sorry. The feature works in Silent Hunter, because torpedoes obviously move a lot slower than a shell does.
  15. So, what's the key to this scenario? I'm a big 0 for 2 on it right now, and looking at the disposition of German forces after hitting Cease Fire, it really makes me wonder how the player is supposed to win with such a lightly-armed American force. ***SPOILER*** Aside from the fact that I think there are far too many German troops at the Crack skill level and/or that have +2 morale ratings. I know the Fallschirmjaeger were very good, but they were not SS-fanatically brave.
  16. And that's just not going to happen. The accuracy of the machine guns now represent their real-world effectiveness far, far better than they did in the past.
  17. How are Vasily Grossman's works? I have two of his books on my Amazon wish list.
  18. Well, like it or not, graphics are part of the enjoyment of a game. This isn't the 90s and the era of 1024 resolution anymore. I'm not saying that CMSF looks bad, but it is lagging quite a bit now when compared to the more recent titles in the family. That, and I find it a touch ironic that you of all people - who's constantly chasing down graphics mods - would make such a statement. If graphics don't mean all that much to you, it would stand to reason that you wouldn't care all that much about trying to make the game look better.
  19. All of the hotkeys can be found via the main game interface.
  20. Geez, I guess I'm also a fool for liking The Forgotten Soldier, and on that note I'll just keep my list of favorite Eastern Front books to myself, in case they don't pass the muster of our more esteemed members here.
  21. I know it's not strictly Eastern Front, but given that I collect Mosins (including an original PU in my collection), I picked up a copy of these recently from Paladin Press:
  22. All machine guns - deployed or not - were affected.
  23. Man, some of those models really need a facelift.
