  1. Simply great! The x-mas stocking will be full. Any other features of the engine?
  2. Will Volksgrenadiers ever have the option of being of higher quality than veteran (or even that) given their poor training?
  3. But don't you want your CM-games to look as good as possible too I know that it is more expensive, but a monitor that produces great color, contrast and a dynamic range is IMO worth it, considering the amout of time spent in front of a computer these days. The review I saw was for the Spyder5.
  4. Thanks. Great resource. Will come in handy in time.
  5. We're getting off topic - so one final post. True Vanir, but what I meant is shade and no direct sunlight coming in - like in a forest with little direct sunlight. White balance problems is caused by color temperature which our brain/eyes compensate for but the camera doesn't. Like a pic indoors at X-mas with candels will look orange. One taken in artificial lighting might make white surfaces look greenish. Like this:
  6. Calibration is usually worth the money, but don't buy the cheapest one. If you can afford like 150 USD it will probably be worth it. I saw a review of one the other day. I will look it up if you are interested.
  7. You need a new cat pic, that one didn't work before. How about:
  8. I do photography a lot, and the "paradox" of photgraphing snow that is very bright is that the camera usuallt underexposes the pic, turning it grey and murky. This is due to the optics/sensor exposing as if everything in the frame reflects 18% of the light, which is a certain shade of grey. Anything brighter than that, and hey presto, an underexposed pic. And then we have the whole business of white balance that can make snow look blue in the shade, but I'll stay away from that now.
  9. Good idea. Will do. Basing a map on real elevation changes and terrain features is very hard to replicate. Too bad Google Earth doesn't include topographical contours (yet at least). It would make map making even more of a delight. I know there are work arounds, but still.
  10. That's great. Snow in full sunlight can be positively blinding. But I still think that the snow in cloudy/dark weather/time is too grey. Not by much, but still. Take this from a Swede who is quite used to what snow look like. The grey scale snow is what you usually see along roads or in populated areas where dirt is mixed up with the snow. In rural areas not so much. But this is just my humble opinion. Not like it is a game breaker or so.
  11. Looking forward to following this closely Excited that the game is about to be released. On a side note: something I felt about snow in CMFI as well - granted overcast weather, but IMHO it is too much on the grey side. And snow (at least in CMFI) can't be modded to change that.
  12. OK Bud, you said look for details so I "assume" this will be in CMFB: New background sound in windy conditionsWeather changing during battle and the accumulation of snow on the groundTopographical overlay in editor (yay!)Pixeltruppen can start battles with a "yellow" trench foot injury/partial casualtyPlease verify I'll keep my eyes peeled for more to come. Nice way to introduce the new game. PS Since you're into comic books, have you read Wayne Vansant's Bulge book?
  13. In a book I read about Bulge it said that Shermans often slid of icy roads due to their comparatly narrow tracks/treads.
  14. Regarding tracks in snow, at least it should be possible than units that move through snow kick up flecks of snow, much like dust/smoke in other settings.
  15. Looks like a new snow effect with pixeltruppen and tanks being submerged in the snow. Looks very promising. Kohl, you sure have something to compete with. Can't wait any longer for Bulge - torture .... Edit: and at closer inspection, snow that nestles up to the foundation of the house.
  16. I like they way TPG looks now. Perhaps there should (if possible) be some kind of "new additions" headline or under each game. Otherwise, there is no way of knowing (unless you subscribe) if there is something new for you to test. Thanks for all the good work Bootie.
  17. I wonder if it would happen with another unit carrying a large load. Unfortunately there is now way to know how much they carry. Thanks for figuring it out Ken.
  18. My example from the beginning of the thread is in woods so that can't be the reason. Perhaps the quality of the unit, a more experienced one takes pauses to preserve strength?
  19. What a scare for both you and your family. Glad you came out the other end more or less intact. Amazing what doctors can do, rerouting blood vessels and so on. You must be sore from being cracked open for open heart surgery. We all know your enthusiasm for CM, but pace yourself and get as much rest as possible for the Bulge-release. We know how much you anticipate it. We want your ticker to tick for a long time ahead so get back into action gradually. Take care.
