  1. This seriously underestimates the well-documented Russian paranoia about the West. According to current propaganda, the West/NATO are itching to invade right now ( and have been for decades ). If NATO boots actually crossed the border, even if we know it's a limited operation, that doesn't mean that's how it will be perceived (or reported) by the opposition.
  2. No one has to claim anything. The laws of Physics prevent it. It doesn't get less propagandistic than that.
  3. So both of you are saying that if the government of a neighbouring country falls, it's totally ok to just send in your troops and carve chunks off it ( ie. Crimea ) and/or foment a rebellion ( Donbas ) ?
  4. And you seriously think that a nuclear strike by anyone ( insane jihadists aside ) is likely ? I mean, not just on Russia, but on anyone ? Total strikes are more appealing and therefore probable ? To who ? We don't even have vastly different and competing ideologies anymore like in the Cold War days.
  5. Sounds/looks good mate. I'm normally an Axis player, but I look forward to giving this a whirl. Cheers
  6. Never understood the international communities' approach to this sort of thing - cf. Balkan conflict where an arms embargo was slapped on to the participants, severely hampering the attacked nations' ability to defend themselves while barely bothering the aggressors ( caveat : I'm no expert, but that's certainly what it looked like to me as a layman ) Also cannot see why Russia's methods can't be used against it - "what weapons ? Certainly didn't come from us. On vacation maybe ?"
  7. I'm on Windows 7, but CMH usually doesn't even need to be "installed". I just unzip it and create a shortcut to the exe. Voila, it works. Don't run more than one version at the same time and you'll be fine.
  8. In my experience, the version of CMH has never had any effect on its function - ie. the basic "move turns back and forth" always works, it just may have other bugs or features added and removed. I would not worry about it. But similarly, using an "out of date" version will also not be a problem - the non-CMFB-supporting version worked fine for my AAR with Bil and c3k, but it had a little icon telling me it didn't know wtf that game was Just grab the latest non-beta one you see and go
  9. Wait - they KO the first Panther with a unobserved guesstimated indirect fire shot ? I want to be able to do that in game !
  10. It IS for the Light Mortar. They are only in ( I think ) the Infantry Battalion '43. Or you can buy a "specialist team" of them.
  11. I mostly play the Axis, so I'm used to seeing the MG42 in someone's hands in an HMG squad - but this might be because they can still fire it undeployed, so it needs to be shown. Allied HMG's - I can't say, but I think you're right, it's not shown. Probably an early design decision to save rendering ( why show something that can't be used ? ) much like mortar tubes are only seen when deployed.
  12. I admit to being surprised at the number of rear hits that Panther survived - normally a side or rear penetration is game over. But without the Hit Text on, we can't know if it was Penetrated at all - I would think that in real life, just being hit is likely to galvanise the crew ( to either bail or fight back ).
  13. See also Page 7 of my Beta AAR battle with Bil - there's a ground-level screenshot I posted to show how the enemy were targeting me in/through the woods.
  14. This was going to be my question too - if they're close together, they may feel that the shot that hit one of them was "themselves being fired upon" - since Hunt will still be cancelled by "nearby fire" or "a miss".
  15. I seriously doubt that dragging a wooden box across the ground ( only one end actually in contact with the ground ) will damage or deform the shells inside which even in the model picture have a wooden former to hold them motionless inside. Besides, didn't tank crews sometimes have shells loose on the floor ( at least, earlier in the war ) ?
  16. Thing is, anything like this is going to be a 2 step process - (1) move the gun (2) move the ammo. Why would you try to do both simultaneously especially when (2) will clearly slow you down ? Logically you would move the gun ( possibly with one shell loaded ) and then send (most of) the crew back for the other gubbins - including their own kit ( why would you carry that while pushing either ? ) In any case, in all the clips of actual WWII footage of ATG's being manhandled I've seen, the guys pushing are carrying nothing. They don't look dug-in at all - they look like they're in a few centimetres at most.
  17. Just use WinRAR to extract the first file - it will unpack all 3 into one brz file ( same as multiple volume zip files etc. ) Edit : yes, PC too. No idea why they are coming down from cmmods as .man files though.
  18. @Erwin Seems a bit odd that they download as .man files ( which they did for me too ), but I can confirm that if you rename them to .rar, they will unpack successfully. Weird
  19. Seems a bit odd - when I go to download these at cmmodsiii, when I mouse over the link, it says it is HQS2.5.part1_.rar When I actually click it, it is trying to download HQS2.5.part1_.man No idea where the .man is coming from - hard to tell as it's (supposedly) a UNIX extension. Maybe it's just a wrinkle the site is doing ? Erwin, if you just rename them to .rar, do they work ? ( can't check myself for a few more hours )
  20. Great stuff man ! I love those dinky little AC's
  21. Great stuff, thanks ! ( One looks away for a day and 2 packs appear. You're a machine ! )
  22. I believe he's referring to eliminating tanks' abilities to react instantly rather than requiring assumed communication between TC and driver/gunner which would add a couple of seconds of reaction time.
  23. I think this tends to reflect the game tendency for troops to shoot at "centre of mass". Thus the Kubel takes a pounding, but no one is aiming at the driver. Only once the vehicle is KO'd and the riders get out are they direct targets. Note how quickly the driver gets nailed once he's out. Gamey jeep rushes with 3-4 guys armed with Tommy guns and the like can be much more successful ( versus infantry only ) than you'd expect despite the passengers being totally exposed, for this reason ( note: only my opinion ).
  24. That light was introduced in CMRT I think and it tells you that that unit has previously been broken and rallied, so it is "brittle" and likely to rout again from (any) incoming fire.
