So here's the first of a few mods of weathered vehicles for the Downfall module. Don't know how many I am going to make, but it certainly won't be all the new Downfall units.

In action

I've played the US version as US  vs AI - and had lots of fun. But it is clearly balanced for H2H - much too easy when playing against the AI.

The two variants of Metal on metal are of course 'ahistorical' meeting engagements with fairly balanced forces even though they don't specifically mention H2H.

I've updated/created a couple of vehicle dealerships for Downfall to the best of my abilities. That is:

The existing German dealership - with the new Downfall units.

A new UK dealership - plus a few Canadian vehicles that I couldn't find in the British TOE. No Polish forces, at they don't seem to contain other units than the British.

I think I have found all units available in the dealerships, but I'm not sure.

I haven't updated the US dealership yet -  but might do so later.

Dont know if you are aware, but there is a collection of "dealership scenarios" for the CMFB base game. When you load them, they should show you all the vehicles in the game. I'll attach them here, but be aware that they are not official, so some vehicles might be missing. And the one called "Downfall" is my own incomplete attempt to update the german vehicles.

Alas, I can remember who made the Dealerships originally.

This really.  We can argue til the cows come home about the best computer wargame out there, but only CM provides those three things.  I would say that makes it subjectively my favourite, but I wouldn't presume to say objectively the best.

Here's a thought. After BF has finally closed business (and long mey they rule), NO ONE will ever produce this kind of complicated and labour intensive wargames anymore. So let's praise ourselves lucky we've already got his much.

I guess you did an actual poll, market research or similar about that?
So maybe this works with a mostly US based audience. For me personally Downfall and also to a lesser degree Fire & Rubble feels like the Allies get an extension of timeline so they can play around with their shiney toys. But that really feels like the only reason for me because contrary to, say, the Bulge, historically the whole fighting by that point was totally pointless. And tactically I don't see what it reall adds.
This is very subjective on my side and it may be because I'm German. Don't get me wrong, this is not about me being butthurt here.
I'd much rather see France 1940, not because Germany won this time but because it would add so many new tactical challenges (armor and gun wise inferior German tanks but with better mobility for example, instead of unicorn tanks for late war battles).

CM 1939-40 would be very fun, but I don't see any reason to doubt BFC's assessment that it's not the profitable option, so the debating feels fairly pointless: it's unlikely to change anything, the arguments against it have been repeated over and over and there's no reason to question them.

A combination of cancer treatment, and then needing to buy a new PC, means that I have built up a backlog of stuff to play. But, I will certainly buy this at sometime. Having been to Kleve for a meal once, and seeing how lovely it is, I might feel a pang of guilt if I have to pound it to bits. Ho hum.

I don't think we will ever get that ability in the general game. I could be wrong of course since I don't speak for CM. I have no idea if Steve will drop in and comment. His previous stated stance - from my memory so forgive any mistakes I might make - is that he has no desire to do that for two reasons:
- the game is a historically accurate simulation so allowing people to uber their favour tank for nerf the "bad" guys' rifles etc is not a good idea
- the multi player community would be come fractured and or be exposed to cheating because only people with the same capability mods could play against each other and the development effort required to ensure that works without cheating is huge

I found this game by accident, searching for "Star Wars Battlefront" in a Google search. I don't know how many hours I have clocked in, but as a WW2 history fanatic, nothing comes close.
