  1. Glad to hear it. I went looking for the manual thinking they are available pre release on the home page but can't find it. I did find a whole wack of new game pictures tho I didn't see before. Nice work.
  2. Cliff hanger. That was exciting. Look forward to the continuation.
  3. Related to mouse lag in my experience, not related to the game. I went back to a wired mouse and keyboard. I was getting lag with my wireless set up. Control is back to normal now. And maybe the OP is not wireless so sorry if irrelevant.
  4. Not quite getting why ppl have a hard time understanding the concept of same game different setting. Like its a new thing or something. I played Warhammer to death, and then the same developers came out with Company of Heroes. It was the exact same game, same engine, just the hover tanks were now Shermans, the space marines were modelled as WW2 GI's. Nobody complained. Those who liked the engine stayed with it . It was what it was. Sorry to bring up another game title, but I'm just trying to point out if you like CMRT like me, then you'll probably like CMFB. Same game, different setting, different time, different place... This is pretty typical in computer gaming land.
  5. The horror! I so wanna play with one of those and destroy things. How are they against tanks. Nice comic pics BTW.
  6. hah, old post. Still if anyone is lurking, Jagged Alliance Back in Action, is my all-time favourite. Not that old: 2010. Dirt Cheap now. I still play it over and over.
  7. I wonder if these are controlled by the ai much the same as the rear facing mg on the ww2 halftracks or Soviet heavy tanks. I would never think to give a target light command for the use of these weapons as they are pretty much at the mercy of when the ai uses them. And that has a lot to do with if the crew is looking rear and spotting. Not saying it shouldn't be refined or changed though or even if that is the case.
  8. Been a while. Seem to recall I took a malling and still acheived a lesser victory because I was able to get my last oberserver team on top of that goose egg hill. I couldn't get the tungies on the right flank and left them. Had 3 bmp left, a fair bit of ground troops reformed tho. I distracted one AA with a couple squads just as the airstrike was making its run. And I was down 2 or 3 aircraft by then. It was rewarding to hear that bridge crash and crumble. Still had a bit a fight with the ground troops after that. I think I'll play this one again sometime.
  9. In my defense I was talking Operation Hooper only, because it an Angola game so blame Steiner
  10. You have heard of APOS Operation Hooper right? If not it might be up your alley. Still, CM would do it better I bet.
  11. I think you present a fair case that could warrant an off topic discussion as long as it is constructive. I play alot of different games so I have a good basis of comparison. You have brought up issues relating to graphics for the most part. I don't want to do alot of side by side comparison to other games. But CMBS unit models, tanks and soldiers are really good, better than the other game that gets used as a comparison. And animations have changed since CMBN. I picked up on this, troops with more postures, that sort of thing. True, the distant ground for maps is a painted in the corner situation that probably won't change . There are games out there with great graphics CM could aspire to, but those games either have poor unit control, or lousy game play, or maybe good terrain graphics with lousy models. OK so I basically stated CM holds its own and has improved somewhat. But like you I do get concerned if an evolutionary leap will occur anytime in the future. That would be great. While knowing the whole nature of computing is changing so fast, and what this means to this niche game is an unknown.
  12. Oh no you got sucked into men of war Yeah that game sure is pretty. Back on Subject... TOW2 is a good game but flawed as you mentioned. TOW3 has slicks. The helicopters are implemented well. But the max map size I think in 2X2k so helos get kinda hemmed in. But the helicopter idea I like. Too bad Tow never got massaged a bit for a larger and more refined TOW4.
  13. Stumbled upon 3 episodes of this kickstarter series. I am amazed a low budget, volunteer guild of professional 2nd rate actors and producers could pull off even 3 episodes... but they did. Complete with easter eggs ( James Doohan's son plays Scotty, the original Apollo guy does an episode, guest stars Lou Ferrigno, Fiona Vroom (I said 2nd rate). They nailed the original 1967 series to a tee so well that at first I thought I was watching one of those parodies. But no it was an all serious episode in the tradition of the original Star Trek. The sets look identical to the original, sound effects and instrumentation same same. I have to say, although I like modern CGI effects, the new Star Trek movies are awful, Chris Pine sheesh, along with the totally rewritten ST universe which is no longer relevant to the franchise name anymore. Obviously someone felt disgruntled enough to come up with this Star Trek Continues project. I caught them on Genesis streams. I hope they come out with more episodes and hopefully more sets. Good Effort. http://startrekcontinues.com/aboutus.html
  14. Remember the old twilight 2000 games from the 80's. Post apocalyptic american mech forces fighting in poland. Make it something like that. Everything gets a very worn rag tag look. Lots of dents rips tears on the textures. No clean buildings. Terrain is very arid. Cities of rubble and graffiti. Basically its just face lift. The fighting would be between local factions using equipment in the game.
  15. He said on SNL he wasn't there to teach warm ups, but to pump you up. I guess he did.
  16. don't mean to Shanghai the thread but since its about smoke mods is it possible to mod hand held smoke grenade smoke differently from canon and vehicle launched smoke? Or is it all the same seed.
  17. I recently discovered after a 10 year hiatus there was a series 9 Red Dwarf in 2009 and a series 10 created in 2012. I watched them all in one day on Genesis, and in HD. The prior older series were never in HD. The changes in appearance since the series came out in 1988 were apparent, Kryten is a pudgy mechanoid now, and Arnold J Rimmer proves that holograms do age, but they are every bit as funny. The cat kinda looked the same tho.
  18. Of course you are correct. I play only single unit and squad games pretty much on fields that measure in yards to a few miles. So when I come across a game which scopes an AO of 100 miles, to me this is grand strategy Would love to see a simple strategy layer for combat mission, and VN65 is extremely light in complexity.
  19. So I bought this new $10 game for my PC called Viet Nam '65. I'm not here to plug the game or spam it. Only to say its small scale and limited complexity would be absolutely ideal if the troop combat took place in the CM2 universe. You basically chopper a handful of platoons, around a limited map, patrol and keep them supplied using said hueys, while earning political points. These points can buy a battery, mechanized infantry platoon, M48's, Arvn yada yada. You get, and can buy more engineer coys to build forward operating bases for your SF units which you move around as a unit as well. Search and destroy NVA units, there's too much to go into. But the entire game only takes about 2 or 3 hours to play on a random generated map. The the scale of the game world would be the perfect grand strategy level for a CM campaign.
  20. Put in a search for Gboxcanada and read their blurb, at least for the info. They deliver to US. Quite legit. From there you can search Amazon for a US equivalent. There are youtube demos. You won't be sorry.
  21. There is another way to get your Red Dwarf fix. I was a fan in the 90's and recently went back to watch them again. Good times. Just buy a Star Stream X 4 box. See all the Red Dwarf you want. They have been around where I am for quite some time. You just need unlimited internet access.
  22. Played Operation Hooper, and enjoyed it. T55 against Centurions. Graphics have come a long way since Op Star. Nice to have the option to move vehicles by road or as the crow flies. Watching dragon flies come in to drop a couple 250 pounders is spectacular. There are plus and minus to both games. CM2 is the better game but I will always play both series.
  23. FWIW, Im probably an exception here as a play a lot of games. If Steam was a casino they would give me a free VIP room. Different games, and at the same time. Well not simultaneously, but you know. So I'm playing lets say Wasteland for hours on end, get bored and play a couple hours of CMBS. Then back to COH, Warhammer, then back to Black Sea. Well my point is the models, vehicles, and troops look really good in Black Sea. Compared to other games they are right up there. Even better than the other games I am playing. I play on max resolution for everything. I think maybe the terrain could do with a face lift only thing. But even that's ok for me.
  24. Are all the Russian Ukraine 125mm guns the same used in their different tank models?
