  1. I had a forward observer team leader that picked up the rad op's radio and they stayed in comms alright. Kinda the same with team B mortar round bearers. You can put them next to another mortar tube but they don't like to share? I tried to test this and I'm pretty sure the tube didn't benefit from extra rounds even though the A tube was knocked out.
  2. How or do you create a destroyed building on a map in the scenario editor. I know the control key can knock the walls out but isn't there a destoyed rubble building with no roof?
  3. Will the Coy Hq adopt the mortars then for morale? If so that is a good solution.
  4. I think BFC will keep the same engine for all upcoming modules and theatres. And when they are all done with that, they will re-release Normandy and call it Last Stand Normandy.
  5. It will be the chosen theatre of operation for the new engine....just guessen
  6. Virtualy every assault rifle today has an HB variant, or heavy barrel and Bipod. FN FAL had the 30 round clip with Bipod, FNC2 as the squad support weapon, Steyr Aug HBAR-T, Enfield with that L86 pictured above. Are these LMG's, Automatic rifles, or more commonly a squad support weapon. Difficult to label.
  7. My theory, The Schreck Guy has a pistol so I think he defaults to his AT weapon at longer ranges. This doesn't happen so much to the zook guy who has a carbine. The solution may be to give a k98 to the schrecker.
  8. I am/was a big fan of TOW2. But have to say CMBN is the better game. The individual infantry soldier AI is so much smarter in CMBN. In TOW2 you have to move the squad using precooked formations and then tidy it up by moving and nudging individual soldiers. CMBN for the most part the soldiers get it right and adopt placement and formation naturally. And they live longer for it. The only aspect where TOW2 comes out slightly ahead is that it is very pretty. Beautiful backgrounds and terrain shading, and water. Pleasing to look at, graphically it is slightly better than CMBN.
  9. When artillery is totally way off target. Usually due to a bad spotter or a spotter under duress, I tried using the adjust fire hoping it would correct the coordinates. But it never seems to work that way and the fire mission continues until all rounds are expended. Better off calling a check fire and save ammo.
  10. Maybe it was dead either way. Reversing is the right move. Better to shoot and hope to rattle the crew or crack a prism while reversing. However if the HT was not spotted then I see the point of why give away a position. Was it spotted by the tank?
  11. There are a few common pics around from poland showing SS officers with their smocks rolled up at the waist to expose their waistbelt and holster under their smocks. Looks kinda funny. On another note: Hey that King Tiger tank commander on the bridge is an infantry soldier? Did we towitize the rules and now we can send an infanteer to crew a tank?
  12. I had to look twice. For a second I though I was on the Civilization V forum. No seriously, nothing wrong with "what if" campaigns. Sea lion with Brit ports would be very entertaining. There are just so many untapped historical scenarios to recreate. When we have 2 different branches of Germans available to mod, and winter scenery I would like see to the Lapland war, recreated.
  13. They are good for drive-byes, especially if you got 3 passengers with SMG's like a scout team firing.
  14. Well do you want the Sgt Schultz Hide command: "I see nothing..... I hear nothing." Or do you want the Arte Johnson Hide command: German observing intently from behind the bush and says " verrry interrrestink"
  15. Shouldn't forward observers be able to spot and be hidden at the same time. Sort of the requirement of the job. Same with snipers too. I don't want to take this too far tho, next thing people will say yeah and how 'bout scout teams.
  16. The tac AI of the individual soldier, and squad on the move is pretty good compared to similar games. The soldier as an individual has a good survival instinct and usually plays the terrain correctly while popping shots off, and other appropriate actions... scrounging, bazooka shots at vehicles and such. Squads move appropriately without having to can a formation; There's always an exception. But for the most part it is correct. I wish there were quick arcs tho for quickly setting a range by dropping a premade 180 arc, but I wouldn't want to lose the present method of dragging directional ranges and arcs of fire either.
  17. Yes, from a free online Download. Really good resource. http://www.scribd.com/doc/48462326/The-Lorraine-Campaign .
  18. During the Lorraine campaign in September 1944, the German 5th Panzer Corps massed the largest concentration of German tanks seen since the battles at Caen and Mortain in July 1944. This counterattack force included over 300 tanks, with the majority being new Panther tanks. Their opponent was the 4th Armoured Division, known as "Patton's Best", a well trained, well-led division which had become battle hardened since the fighting for Coutances in July 1944. From 19 to 22 September 1944, the 4th Armored Division broke the back of the German counteroffensive near Arracourt, destroying 107 tanks and 30 assault guns for the loss of only 14 M4 tanks and 7 M5A1 light tanks. The tank destroyers quickly deployed in a shallow depression and opened fire at about 150 yards. In the short fight that followed, three of the four American tank destroyers were lost, but not until they had destroyed seven enemy tanks. ......Lots of examples of tank battles well within the typical battlemap size. And I don't mean 4km. As for recon vehicles, contact or break-out would not be unplausable for smaller scenarios.
  19. In a scene out of blackhawk down, nobody wants to re-man the 50cal. Where's Hoot when you need him. Instead of a Humvee its an M20 in this case. I'm assuming you mean only the driver is left of the original crew. This was mentioned a while ago. Requires to be fixed I think too but its rare that M20's are featured and even passengered so likely bottom of the totum pole.
  20. I feel the right mouse button and scroll wheel is under utilized for sub-menu selection. So maybe giving orders IMO? But that's because I play alot of games that use such a system. Back on topic.... the whole article really needed to sum up what a great game this is for getting so many things right.
  21. Great Idea! lets include Juno and Sword, but not Omaha Yeah we all know the history I said "to" Falaise, not "from". One may say the culmination of the Normandy campaign was Falaise, but please spare me from a debate on this, I laughed enough already.
  22. Just an observation, but shell holes, or artillery impacted ground seems to be a shallow depression below ground level. This would make a very appealing fox hole, or motar pit if ringed with a layer of sand bags. Maybe the physics isn't there. Just wondering why it wasn't exploited for defence design.
